Create a new local account on your Xbox360 if you just HAVE to play the game early... PLay the GTA IV early release (pirated or official...) until April 29, then start playing again with your regular gamertag.

As much as Microsoft would like to make you think that it will ban your IP address, that's simply not possible, or fair due to multi-user households. So the most extreme action they can take is to discredit your gamertag.

I don't understand as to why its such a federal offense all of a sudden to play a game early if you manage to get a copy early. Can someone please explain this to me...?

Hitman_Legend...everyone knows the rules, and since it was very clear to retailers that they were not supposed to sell it early then how did these people get it? These people probably stole a copy or work at a store and picked one up early or they have a pirated version. Any of those instances is worthy of being banned.

If you unlock an achievement in a game, your xbox still logs the date that you unlocked it. Once someone decided to re-connect to Xbox Live, it would be seen that they had played the game early. The only way to get away with playing early is by using an alternate account.

Or you just delete your progress before logging back in. Plus I would think they're just looking for people online playing it now. I highly doubt they're going to go back, and check all the achievements after it's been officially released.

360's don't have an internal clock, so when an achievement is unlock offline, a date is not stamped. Your achievement will be shown unlocked but it doesn't say when it was unlocked. You have to be completely disconnected from online (Not connected to the internet) in order for this to happen.

As for getting in trouble for buying or receiving this game early. There is nothing MS or RockStar can do to you as a customer, if this item was brought legally. The buyer can play this game when he/she feels like it. The issue is between MS/RockStar and the Retailer who sold the game earlier. Retailiers release games early all the time to customers who preordered. This should have been expected. The same thing happen to Halo3 and the samething will happen again when Gears of War2, Metal Gear4 and other high profile games being released later this year.

You're not going to stop a damn from leaking, if you do no stop the wholes that is causing to leak.

I can't believe that there are that many dummies on the net this days. These are European accounts and Rockstar already knows that they have the game already. They have gotten it from legit dealers where the street date was just broken by the store. Learn to read better.

I got some game early b/c of retailer (Toys R Us), i think it was Assassin's, don't remember... but if a RETAILER sold it early, it's THEIR fault, not the consumer's IMHO.

Besides, MP's gonna be a real drag when no one else has it...

if i was scared of being banned i wouldnt have modded it in the first place, cant comment on shooting as i havent got a gun yet in the game, combat system when you lock on to an opponent you use A to counter a punch B to punch Y to use alternative attack or something usualy an uppercut, and X to kick, the new layout of the controles was though to get used to so i switched it to classic and that made things 10x better, lovin the radio statios there back in all their crazyness and classic is the station i play most old school hip hop and breaks and turntablism good sh*t

That's what I'm most worried about, looking at early gameplay vids the cars look like they have super soft suspension & dont handle very well... i hope this isnt true...

Driving is bad. The cars have extra springs or something. Almost all cars i've jacked feel the same, cept for a sports car. But turning radius is big also no rumble when driving even on rough path or bumps. Sucks. Rest looks fine in my opinion hvn't played it for more than an hour or so.

I heard you can take off the lock on system so hopefully that applies to all aspects including combat. Lock on systems as the kiddies would say, "are for noobs."

driving was a b*tch till i changed the controlles the first car you get is a piece of crap and i wasnt feelin the driving till i put the buttons on classic after that it was all good, there is also handbreak cam , where when you do a massive handbreak it automaticly changes the camera view to a cinamatic one, the cars are very easy to flip when you clip a path or that and as in saints row if you crash head on chances are your going to take a nose dive through the windscreen, yea you can turn off the auto aim saw that in the options but in hand to hand combat i would reckon it stays on because if not locked on you dont get the option to kick and that

Yeah - it all depends on how the publisher feels about it. Generally it's probably in their best interest not to make a big deal about it if it's just people playing legit copies early, but they probably need to go after the piracy.

Honestly I don't think anything will happen to those people out there playing GTA IV on Xbox Live. I for one had almost every new release before launch date & played them before Live. Never once encountered a problem. I had Cod 4, Halo 3 and many others. Cod 4 was the best the only people online and playing were the developers themselves and they had no problem with people having it early. Who knows maybe with GTA IV it will change.

if you flash the drive microsoft can't tell if it is a backup and thus cannot ban you. I played Halo 3 four player co-op all the way through on the internet a week before launch, and guess what i'm not banned yet. I'm freely doing the same with GTA4 and its fun as hell. Disagree all you want but i'm right and reaping the benefits. Although i must apologize for the condescending nature of this post i'm tired of people talking about what they don't understand.

Actually there are some terms of agreement when you sign up for Xbox Live so if people are playing it online they do have some options for legal recourse.
