I'm assuming you mean gaming laptops, or else you're just being stupid. Plus gaming laptops from a year ago had a 7970m or a 680m. Some really high end ones had sli or crossfire x. The ps4 is a more powerful system that the ones with the single 7970m or the 680m. Yes, the 7970m has higher TFLOPs than the PS4 gpu, but the ps4 gpu is part of an APU, so a higher performance output can be achieved.

You guys are putting way too much hype into the GPU. The GPU is half of the CPU/GPU combo chip. The CPU in the XboxOne and PS4 are budget processors designed for tablets/mobile devices. A gaming laptop from last year not only has a high end GPU, but a quad or six core i7 CPU that is much, much more powerful. Bad comparison if you want the console to "win". Yes, you pay more for the laptop, but it can do much more than play games.

Then you also have to consider that games are cheaper on PC and you don't have to pay to play online.

you're missing the point in the "price" argument...the reason price is brought up is because any time there is an article about the power of the PS4 (or Xbone for that matter)...PC nuts come running into the comments section with their hair on fire talking about how some GPU from last you lays absolute waste to the PS4 but costs $600 all on its own while the PS4 is a complete system that will sell for $400...

you CANNOT at this time build a complete box that matches the specs of the PS4 for $400...you simply cannot...

im not saying that is a BAD thing...im not saying that as a slight against the PC gaming crowd...its just true...

however for a few hundred more you will probably be able to easily beat the PS4...and with $1000 you would be able to build a PC that is certainly MUCH more powerful than a PS4...

That didn't and doesn't usually happen it's all in your imagination. Also at Starchild if they were saying that Wii U cannot match it's performance they'd be right it can't. It's running several years old tech that was out of date for a new gaming console probiably by 2010 at least. If they point out that the Xbox one has a slightly less powerful GPU they'd be right-although why they'd bother as it's unlikely to have much/any effect on most games. Also there's a difference between this and say an xbox exec who doesn't actually make games etc he just does sales and PR etc telling people as an example that 3 xbox ones will be available in the cloud and it'll improve graphics etc which is total crap then yeah I can see why people would call them out or when they directly attack another console in the argumnt by mentioning it by name or heavily implying stuff I can't say I blame people for wanting to set that straight.

In a vacuum, it's close to a 7850. However, they are not used in a vacuum, they are used in different PC and console environments. A GPU will get considerably stronger hardware utilization in a more specialized architecture in a console. You're not going to see some pretty amazing looking games from what might seem like a modest GPU were it in a PC, such as the latest edition Killzone and inFamous, as a result. Without the burden of Windows and numerous general purpose functionality, there is quite a bit more efficiency regarding what you can do with it.

BTW, I have 2 EVGA GTX 670 4GB cards.

On Topic: What I find interesting is that Warframe is allowing for cross-play but Planetside 2 isn't. The reason behind Planetside 2 is that it's because of the fact that patches require certification from Sony and keeping the PS4 version up with the PC version, patch wise, is impossible because of that.

This is made even more interesting by the fact that Planetside 2 is developed and published BY Sony Online Entertainment, essentially making it first party, and Warframe is developed by Digital Extremes but published by SCE.

So a first party MMOFPS won't be cross-play because of certification problems but a third party, free-to-play, third person co-op shooter IS going to be cross-play? Wtf? How did the Warframe devs get around their own patch issues?

It does seem like a strangely generalised thing to say coming from a PC dev that would be used to even mid range graphics cards being considerably more powerful. I guess in the context of a console it is the most powerful GPU ever used in a console and many times the potency of what we have in the current gen, and in the fixed platform there must be a massive amount of performance available.

This is definitely great news. I was a little disappointed during our last chat when you mentioned that during their last live stream they were considering a one-time only account transfer. So I'm really glad they were able to resolve this. I know I'm going to want to play with both groups on PC and PS4. Plus, I now have almost all the available Warframes built, most of them maxed out, and I really wouldn't want to have to go through all that again.

Sorry that isnt correct. I bought a pretty good gaming laptop in 2005 im in the armed forces so thought it would be good for travelling. It was and i was playing games like Ghost recon on full setting and loving it. Around 2 years later it started to strugle so i started reducing settings, but when it got to a point where i was reducing settings that much that games looked better on my ps3 i reallised what a huge waste of money it was. After that I travelled with a psp and ds not nearly as powerful but miles more fun, less hassle and a lot cheaper.

1. issue: Gaming laptops are bullshit. They are optimized to use as little power as possible, they usually have special (mobile) graphics chips which are way slower than regular desktop cards. You can't compare a mobile device with a home console or desktop PC, different philosophy.

2. issue: Optimization and ports. a PC example first: Crysis came out in 2007. NO way could the xbox360 or ps3 play that game with similar settings, while gaming PCs in 2007 already ran the game in 1080p with higher settings than the xbox360 version.
-->Crysis was one of the last games written for PC and the best example on how the consoles held graphics and especially the size of the worlds back in the last few years. Crysis looked about as good as crysis 3, but it had way bigger levels (utilizing the bigger ram of the PC) it was almost open world-ish, awesome physics, great AI.
(sidenote: Another good example would be the first Halo. What Bungie had in mind was something like what they are doing now with Destiny! And it would have been possible on PC, but they had to cut and dumb it down for the xbox).

So why run some games really bad on PC? Because after ~2008 ALL the games got developed for ps3/360 and then ported to the PC. In most cases ported very poorly. That takes away alot of power because the code wasnt designed for that system. Best example would be GTA IV imho. Took them about a year to make it playable on PC... Not because PCs had not enough power on the contrary, but because the devs had problems with the optimization.

Long story short: A PS3 optimized game (TLOU for example) will not run as smooth on PC because it is written in a different language and the PC has to translate (figurativly speaking). Of course devs could optimize so any PS3 game would run perfectly 1080p/60fps even on current low cost PCs but that takes alot of effort. Ain't nobody got time fo dat.

3. PS4/XB1/PC are all x86. Finally all systems (except the WiiU) use the same architecture! Making a PS4 game run on PC will not require anywhere near the amount of effort it took to make a PS3 game run on PC. Because PS4/XB1 use PC architecture. We have a totally different situation now and the new consoles have totally different hardware concepts behind them compared to last gen (look for the Mark Cerny talk on PS4 hardware dev).
-->So if you think about that and take that into consideration, you can't compare the PS3/Xbox360/PC situation with the PS4/XB1/PC situation. It's very different.

smartphones/phablets/tablets are the future of every day computing...I rarely ever use my desktop anymore (and its a Mac not a PC loli use my MacBook much more than I use the desktop...

The emulation argument over legacy games good one there bud considering that has no negative effect on the experience with a PC gamer, hell not even the devs who developed it 10+ years ago. I've been playing on PC since wolfenstein 3D & got tired of
the never ending race of upgrades to make games work properly.
With time you even had to check updates on every goddamn

So the PS4 i think is the greatest Console out there and i think it`s time to get one. I started as an consolero with a atari 2600 and ended with the ps1.
Even when i get the ps4 now i will always be a pc gamer. The PC gives me more. It's a better graphic experience and i can do all my work with it.
