Valve buys Left 4 Dead developer

Valve has acquired Turtle Rock Studios, the developer currently working on the ace-looking, Source-powered zombie shooter Left 4 Dead.

"Left 4 Dead fills a long-standing demand gamers have had for a co-op first-person action experience, and it will also help Valve's expansion into the console market," added Doug Lombardi, Valve's VP of marketing.

1 - Left for Dead

is the ONLY 360 game i care about in 2008.

it really looks great.

kinda like a Re4/deadrising thing, which is for me.

good co-op based multiplayer games are always good.

above an article about Left 4 Dead, They put it down as a multiplatform game. Meaning it is for the 360 and it's definately coming to the PS3.

Getting this game for my PC instead of Xbox 360. Its a good buy on Valves's part tbh, they can have another IP to add to the list and this company whos making Left 4 Dead also made some of the CSS maps.

Hopefully this means that Turtle Rock Studios can work on CSS and help the DoDS team as well.

8.2 - There will be plenty I think...

Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, Ninja Gaiden 2, Banjo Kazooie, Cry On, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements, Elveon, Theseis, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, Warhammer: Battle March. Now I don't know if all of these games will be great but none of them that I know of have to do with guns and none will be on the PS3 or Wii.

Can you name me any PS3 exclusives in 08 that don't include shooting guns? The only one I can think of is LBP.

Looks like Twinkees aren't enough to satisfy Gabe Newell's hunger, he also needs to eat up companies.

Plain and simple, I just can't stand the guy. He's an arrogant jerkoff who talks a bunch of sh!t. His Source engine is starting to get dated, and that's why Left 4 dead's graphics don't really look up to snuff. It's a great concept however, but it has now been tainted by the cheeto-stained fingers of Mr. newell. I may not buy it now, since it would violate my personal boycott of anything Valve-related.

Way to go, newell, you asshole.

Gabe has done some of the best games ever m8. Hes a great developer and makes games that matter. Who cares if he hates the ps3 hell theres already a huge line for that, I wouldn't hate him for it. People take these video games way too seriously please just try and remember its all fun and games.

Sure fire hit. This is a pre-order for a million+.

Looks great, exciting inventive gameplay. The LIVE gameplay and the opportunity to play as the bad-guys against people during their campaign (as opposed to a 4 vs. 4 scenario) is truely unique.

The Source engine is modable meaning that Valve can update with new tech say HDR (already added btw) to the engine without breaking other parts. Its also cost effective for a company like Valve which really isn't that big.
