Rumor Mill: Crysis Coming to 360 in November?

January 2nd, 2008 -- Gaming Today reports that an electronic store in Austria, GamesOnly.at, has among its various listings of Crysis for PC a couple of listings of Crysis for the Xbox 360. I could see this happening, after all 360 does have what many call DX9.5, and the 360s attach rate is tempting to a lot of developers, there is a lot of money in 360 development right now. It would be a quick and easy cheap port, money in the bank. PS3 on the other hand, now that is not likely to happen.

6 - easy PC porting

huge advantage for xbox360. Hope PS3 can get the porting thing down soon as well. But honestly, with killzone 2 and socom coming, i really dont care anymore about shooters.

there are way too many already. It might sell on the Xbox360 though, but I really am looking forward to a worthwhile KH or FF RPG game. All these shooters are all the same to me.

One because your a Droid and everyone seen though the BS, two you said "fresh and new" while talking about Killzone 2 and SOCOM which are sequals. <--- How can they be fresh and new? Crysis is fresh and new because it's a new IP. Now head on back over to the PS3 side you PS3rd Droid, your last place console is calling and that old B&W war movie Killzone 2 needs someone to add color to it :)

That's because nobody has a PC that can run the game at full spec. The current generation of consoles can probably do an excellent job with the game. My opinion of that "not possible on consoles" line is that it was it was pure marketing spin.

EA would just lower the settings on the 360 port. It would also make sense bc porting things from PC to 360 is a fairly quick and inexpensive process.

Not to mention Crysis hasn't been selling that well. So EA will want to recoup investment costs.

agreed, but people who are saying it wont be as pretty as on PC although im agreeing with you im not saying it wont look good as when developing for a PC you have to remember the devs know exactly what hardware people are using so the codes will be tight whereas with PCs they have to offer something to users with PCs which are not top of the range. so yeah this is a thought.

i think it will get ported simply because of the poor sales (due to not many people having competent enough pc's) and the publisher behind it- EA and badly-selling exclusive really dont go well together also crytek have said that the consoles can run it without any major reductions in quality

This most likely will come to the 360, DX9 and low detailed graphics. Crysis didn't sell too well on PC, they need to make up their losses by doing a port.

The Xbox 360 could easily handle this game. Of course, not on the highest settings, which even PCs cant handle, but at medium it would run and look very good. You know why? Because it's basically a 3.2 Ghz PC with basically the same coding. ZOMG, imagine that.

The real question is how many frames of animation would the PS3 version lose? Orange box, anyone?

The PS3 wouldnt do any better handling of crysis than 360, they both have an asbysmal amount of RAM available and their graphics cards are poor, crysis is already optimised to run over multicore processors, so porting to the 360 would be relatively painless...although it wouldnt run well, pushing low- medium settings on a low res with a poor frame rate. The more likely option is the crysis : instincts would come to the 360/ps3, a more linear game, spin off maybe.

18 - I recall gamer saying that Far Cry would not come to consoles.

In 2004 Far cry was on my Original XBOX. This may be a rumor but I think Crisis is possible on a console with 3 cores like the 360.

That was a spin-off, and was really nothing like the original Far Cry. The levels were linear, the graphics had a different style, and the gameplay was more run-n-gun.

If you ask me I can see Sony & Microsoft agreeing on something like Final Fantasy & Metal Gear Solid 4 goes to the 360 & Mass Effect & Bioshock goes to the PS3 almost a year later from original release dates. Because in the end everybody would win. The time of exclusives are over if you ask me.

There will always be exclusives as long as the console makers have their own game developers like Microsoft Game Studios. Also it doesn't make sense that Sony and MS would make a deal like that. Sony dont own the rights to MGS4 they dont own the studio that makes it so they cant make any decisions like what console its gonna come out etc.
