The Orange Box Movies See The PS3 Version In Action
23
IGN: "Once again players assume the role of Gordon Freeman, a scientist destined to save the Earth from hordes of gruesome alien attackers. Valve has created a fully realized world in Half-Life 2, with objects and characters that feature accurate physics properties, behaving with the appropriate mass, density, and physical properties of their real-life counterparts. Extremely intelligent computer AI result in enemies that plan, adapt, and respond to the player's actions.
The next-gen console version comes packed with bonuses in addition to the genre-expanding original Half-Life 2 game. Half-Life 2: Episode One and Episode Two add-on levels are also on the disc, as are the stunningly complex puzzle game Portal and the online phenomenon Team Fortress 2".

I agree with you, though I'm not too sure 2K deserves such praise yet since it hasn't given much cross platformers except some sports games.
I'm not saying people shouldn't buy this game, I mean some might not mind the occasion framerate dip (in the preview at least) in exchange for not having to upgrade their PC for good visuals. But being a smart consumer means knowing what products and brands to support. For example, I've been avoiding Starbucks due to their anti-labor practices.
This isn't as severe as that, but I think the way to ensure we get better games for the PS3 is to keep on buying games while avoiding the ones that are not up to a certain standard we should expect. When developers see PS3 owners buying games but avoiding theirs, they might finally take some more drastic measures to ensure their quality in the future. This goes for all developers who have recently been too eager on cashing in on the blooming gaming industry.

"When developers"
WTF???
This is nothing more than a crappy pc developer who can't handle real next gen graphics hardware like the PS3 trying to milk some extra cash out of a few PS3 gullible owners by dumping their crappy old x86/DirectX code on some second rate dev team at EA and sending the crap out the door.

"60dollars for what?" how about a great value for money games pack.
I can't remember a game that has ever amazed me as much as Portal - it totally turns the usual game thought process on it's head.
TF2 is fun hellafun online and "boring" is the last word I would use to describe it.
Lots of console users won't have played HL2 yet simply because it is old - that doesn't make them a tard. Also for an old game it holds up pretty well to modern shooters.
PS lots of other people enjoy this game as well - why do you care if they buy it or not?

My point is that it could have been running better if Valve didn't outsource it to another developer to reduce development cost for themselves. I mean if they see that PS3 owners don't care about getting a delayed game that is not performing better to justify the delay, I don't see what will stop them from doing so again.

I've played Half life for 2 years now, or more... Hell, I lost track. I'll pass. I'm playing Half Life 2 at full speed and it looks 3x that of the xbox 360 version and probably 4x's that of the ps3 version. I'm not paying for it again. I'll pass all together. Unreal 3 is where my money is. An honest job well done to Epic. It better be good to pull me away from Warhawk and Resistance, though. "ha"

10 - Maybe
some developers don't want to go down the road of the new way of programming yet, meaning the ps3, because with games like this there is no need, the current hardware and software gets them to the same level they want to reach.
Maybe the Cell is too far ahead of it'd time for it's own good in this generation.

Doesn`t look at as bad as 1up made out, however there was no open world parts shown in those videos or Vehicle parts, so we`ll just have to wait and see if EA has managed a good port....
....Still won`t buy it though as a played it years ago, episode 2 doesn`t interest me nor does TF2. *Hugs COD 4*

13 - Demo
EA should consider releasing a demo on to PSN for people to try out.
Of course, that could be a double edged sword.
They could release a demo of a level that runs really well, luring gamers in to believing the game doesn't have the problems it's claimed to be plagued by.
On the other hand they could release an honest what-you-play-is-what-you'll-g et demo and see sales do even worse than it seems they're already going to be.
That aside, I'd like a demo anyway.

lets face it, hl2 was never texture heavy, a few shaders here and there, nothing new.
Its a good game, i played it on pc. On my older system, lol 6800gt, and it ran fine with a athlon64 3500.
My newer one just crushes it. and then some.
The vids look fine, and tbh this game should run on any new console(wii, thats a no no) at 1920x1080p@ 60fps if you ask me.

says the guy w/ a halo spartan and 'xbo' at the beginning of his name...
how did halo revolutionize things bud?
it didn't
it didn't even get a new engine.. h3 is still on the same engine as its predecessors
then again half life 2 is also on an older engine, non optimized for parallel processing
gl hf w/ your xbox buddy... i'll see you when xbox 720 comes out 1 year from now

17 - actually looked good
I couldn't download the highdef clips, so It was kind of hard to tell. It looked to be running and looking good from those vids. Who knows...maybe the EA Europe Dev team pulled it off. I just hope they add rumble support for the DS:3 controller.
