no game should ever receive a perfect score. This is because opinion is relative. As well being perfect means theres no aspect of the game that could be improved, which in all cases is impossible.

Sure it is a golden age for retailers and newbies. But it's the dark ages for old-time players and people who've actually grown up playing and become mentally adult. The industry hasn't been able to provide substantial games to those who now look for more than just a thrill. Shooting has become a repetitive action included in most videogames. Where is the intricacy and true artistic nature in games? Am I the only one concerned with these pertinent questions?

This industry was given enough time and means to become more mature.

This is no Golden Age. This is an age of mediocrity. I've never seen such a flooded market in terms of minor products since, well… since the VCS days. And back then there was room for forgiveness, as those were the first years. It's amazing how it all become about shooters - first person, third person, RPG with shooting sequences! To see the consumer go for the worst games is common - it's all a question of lack of information and of mainstream tastes. The videogame population has increased to a point where games have become like any other pop art... people go for the popular stuff, not the quality products. No demand for quality products, hence the fact that many a great videogame studios closed and some of the best designers and creators are inactive. Take Yu Suzuki, for instance, or the defunct Clover Studios.

What concerns me the most is that even the reviewers and so-called videogame experts seem to be less and less demanding, hence this maximum score spree. I remember the days when the maximum score was only available to very specific games. Ou sont les incorruptibles du jeux video?

The videogame specialists of today are, much like the market itself, composed of common people, most of them lacking knowledge and true videogame culture. Sure they know all the technical terms, the latest releases and gossip, that's the easiest part: do they know anything about art, and communication mediums? They speak of videogames as if they were sports. Pick your team and defend it to the death. How can the reviews and opinions be impartial or neutral if this is so? Someone is paying a very large sum of money for a bunch of kids to play these games, give them a numerical score and write a small text around it that no one will actually read. It's the number that counts, and the number is easy to come up with, especially with the right incentive.

Edge is way over the line. I know they are a reference, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t changed or gotten worse. Doesn’t anyone else think most videogames are playing it safe now? What was the last DARING project that had both critical and public recognition? The end up being Cult Games for specific followers or dismissed as indie games. Again, what is so golden about our videogame age?

as long as you bear in mind it a 10/10 Relative to todays standards and equipment, not obviously a perfect score in an absolute sense.No game can be absolutely perfect.
