Seabass: "We thought about delaying PES 2008"

The man behind the Pro Evolution Soccer series, Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka has admitted that PES2008 wasn't up to the standards they hoped when it was released.

The game, plagued by problems ranging from lag to missing features, was released on time back in October, but Konami have since provoked rumours that a patch may be released to counter the game's problems, as previously reported.

Not better than fifa 08 at all. Been a hardcore pro man since day dot but have now switched this year. As have many people I know in the same boat... Maybe next year will be different and I'll go back but who knows? this wasn't the next gen pro I dreamed of for all these years. not even as good as 6, let alone 5.

Fifa 08 is the nuts (on ps3 and 360)

I also used to be a PES fan only since the ps1 era of winelven games. i waited and waited for the patch, but since it didnt come out on the 19th I just traded it in for FIFA 08, so far i am not regretting it one bit. so much more features,runs as smooth as silk, better graphics.. and good gameplay. When I played PES2008 it just felt half assed, I couldnt play online and most of the features of the previous games were gone.

9 - Not fit for drinks coasters

If they thought it wasnt up to the standard they wanted they shouldnt have released it ... simple as that. I took mine back the day after I bought it for a full refund..... This after playing PES itinerations for the last decade. They have a hell of a lot of catching up to do now, especially after FIFA have come up with the best football experience ever! (never thought i'd say that)

Personally i think that Konami have done an alright job. i know for sure that to create a football game is very diffficult - just think of the calculations that have to happen.

i would just like them to issue a formal statement with some sort of timetable for the update.

in the mean time stop playing online and play single player, that is fine for me at 720p

the real problem is that Konami as a studio DO NOT actively engage their communities - at least not until post launch when complaints come up - EA, bungie, Ubisoft, Epic have thier flaws but they make a greater effort to engage their fans (including being hyper active in their forums) and evolve even new editions of long standing franchises, maybe its a japanese thing dunno

they've been coding footy since God know when ISS hit, it's not the calculations, they obviously do not have the technical grasp of the new console architecture (never mind their second attempt on the 360)

it's also the bizarre non technical decisions they make to take out the good and add crap in it's place, such as the arcade fast pace of 2008 compared to the perfect pacing of PES5, or the new improved pansy sprint animation or taking away the edit and save replay feature from PES6 on 360 ...oh and diving
