Ubisoft sales up 52 per cent; Haze and Splinter Cell: Conviction delayed

Ubisoft has announced its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year, with sales up 52 per cent to 261.4 million euro.

Gross profits for H1 were 167.6 million euro, up from 102.2 million during the first half of the 2006-07 fiscal year. Net income was 30.6 million euro, compared to a loss of 20.5 million during the same period of the prior year.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, originally scheduled for a Q4 release, was moved to fiscal 2008-09. Haze, originally scheduled for a Q3 release, has been moved to Q4 which ends March 31, 2008.

Can't relate but I do feel bad for all the PS3 kids this year having very few choices for games. Better off asking Mom & Dad for a XBOX 360, save some money and sanity in the long run. Happy Holidays!

2 - With the Haze delay that will mean two things....

First off...Uncharted is going to dominate (uncontested) for the number 1 PS3 title this holiday.

Secondly, and more disappointing for Sony...this makes Drakes the only must have game for the PS3 for the holidays...and I am still not convinced it is going to move systems. So, Sony is going to have a holiday season with no real system seller...again. Not good for Sony.

2.2 - LOL...I did forget about R&C.

But then again...I dont see R&C as a big system seller either. But in the PS3's defense those are two very solid games (great scores/reviews) so it paints less of a bleak picture for the PS3 over the holiday than I first was invisioning.

didn't they just say like 3 days ago that Haze was ready for an early December launch?...

pretty strange...Ubisoft even made that unofficial PS3 commercial with the 40gig PS3 for Europe...in which the PS3 gets injected with "nectar" and the price keeps dropping all with "this christmas" mentioned several times...

oh well...I am used to this crap by now...put this up against KZ2 and Resistance 2 and see what happens...I like Free Radical, but not so much ubisoft...I have a feeling this is one of those financial moves more than anything, Free Radical has always stated the game will be ready this year "but what our Publisher does with it is out of our control"...

I am SO glad this got pushed due to some of the mixed reactions it's been getting. I've got enough to play this season on PS3 and other systems already. I just hope they take this time to polish the game up so it can truly shine.

Uncharted, Ratchet and UT3 for PS3 this year, although 2008 should have loads of great upcoming games for it, even though some of them too will probably be delayed, as it usually is with big titles hehe ;)

Either way I'm not really worried. I recently bought Mass Effect, Assasin's Creed, Mario Galaxy, Call of Duty 4, and Uncharted this month..I think I'm done for this year. I was curious to see how it would look, but I wasn't keeping the bar particularly high for this title...

What really irks me is that the game supposedly has already gone gold or was like completed but was being optimized and was heading to inspection. Hell, even gamestop has labeled their release date as December the 4th 2007.

So, what does this mean now? Possible January or February release? For God's sake Ubi....I'm one of the people who are having terrible issues with Assassin's Creed and now I get this news? It has better be for a damn good reason other than: "We already made enough money this year! You guys have to wait till next year so we can maximize profits!"

22.3 - Well, the reports are conflicting

Conflicting reports are coming in all over the place.

TnS found a Gamasutra site that also echoes the delay of HAZE, however the people at the HAZE website forum seem to say that the game is still on track for a December 2007 release.

I don't really know, but im watching this closely and I'm contacting Ubisoft to find out. More later...maybe.

EDIT: I don't know who's doing it but STOP TAKING MY BUBBLES. I'm one of the least biased people here and I've always tried to stay fair to the conversation and yet people keep popping my bubbles. For gods sakes people...people are silencing ME and people like ZHUK and MART still get to keep their bubbles?

in terms of fiscal quarters, ubisoft's fiscal 4th quarter ends at the end of march. so esentially, ubisoft's fiscal "q4" is january-march, so it could be out at any time during those months.
