CoD4 Topples Gears of War

That sure didn't take very long. Call of Duty 4 has passed over Gears of War as the second most played game on Xbox Live according to Major Nelson's latest top 10 list. Assassin's Creed debuted at #9

4 - About time...

...Gears of War, Like Halo 3, did not sit well with me in terms of on-line play. GOW was laggy as hell if you didn't have a top notch connection. I hate the physics with Halo 3 - all that jumping and jumping....and jumping.

COD4 is in one word...brilliant. It will be in the top 5 on-line games for the 360 for a long time yet.

I agree, it's good to see taste and gameplay prevail for once.

It hasn't ousted Halo, probably never will, but nonetheless, good to see it jump in the face of overzealous hype.

the word hype shouldnt be used if numbers back the game up.
#1 most played online game.

It's number one because it's not hype, It's actually fun. So i dont know where you get hype from. The only thing that was hyped was the launch.

Not suprising and for good reason. It's really good game, but wait for Gears of War 2 (GOW). It will surpass both. The first GOW increased XBL membersip by 50%. Then COD 5 will be on top and on and on.

8.1 - I disagree.

Gears of War is more tactical.
Gears of War online has better community than COD4. why? because there is no point in talking to your teamates when it's just shoot and clustered.

another reason why COD4 multi is inferior to other FPS, is that you really dont get recognized in that game, there is no talent in pwning anyone in COD4. It is basically just shoot the enemy before he shoots you.

Although I am not downplaying COD4. It's a good multiplayer no doubt. With all the crazy bullets flying everywhere,, it is WAR!!. But I just have to disagree that it's better than Gears.

Lmao Gears came out a year ago. This is such a duh statement. COD4 is such a great game though, leveling up is truly a brilliant idea. But epic ruined Gears online with their crappy game search, you wait more than you play. Games like Halo2/3/COD4 have the servers, where you click, find match, and bam your in a match. In Gears you find a match and wait and wait and wait some more til you exit and than just go play unranked for the sheer fact you can play without a full match and the fact the matches never end. Lol @ people who think cod4 is tactical online though. Being tactical gets your ass shot in the back, running like a madman is the way to get kills. In Gears you can work as a team against the opposing four players, talking about where the guys are, etc. COD4 consists of people talking to their friends about last nights event or school for the day.
