EA confident of becoming Christmas number one

Electronic Arts believes its forthcoming racing title Need for Speed ProStreet will win the race to become this year's Christmas number one video game.

"A Need for Speed game has been Christmas number one for four of the last five years, with FIFA only pipping it to the post last year in a debatable count back," said Steve Farrell, senior product manager at EA.

"We are confident the increased quality of the game this year – as well as our extensive marketing campaign, with support throughout the run-up to Christmas – will help to re-establish a Need For Speed game at number one."

NFS has been #1 for 4 out of the last 5 christmass?
I assume this is because non-gamers are trying to buy for their gamer kids, family, friends. I mean its never even the best racer on the consoles let alone the best game out right now.

7 - it wont happen this year.

With the Next-Gen push in full effect now, We have Mario for the Wii, Halo 3 will still be strong this holiday and maybe Mass Effect will get some love, PS3 has Ratchet and clank, and Drake fortune. Not to mention all the Multi-plats, like Call of Duty 4, Guitar Hero 3 and more. The only game that might be a runaway success is Rock Band, but that all depends on if people are ready to shallow 4/5 the price of the Wii for a game.

EA should consider renaming themselves, I've come up with a few suggestions:

EG = Electronic Garbage
EP = Electronic Ports
ER = Electronic Re-Hashes
ES = Electronic Sequels

I thought of doing all of the alphabets, but then decided not to out of respect for the alphabets...

What a joke. I can't believe NFS got Xmas number 1 for the whole 'last 4/5 years'. With pretty much 'The Best Year of Gaming' currently in full effect, I can't even believe NFS will get in the Top 10 games of Xmas.

Although now EA own Bioware maybe they will dominate this thing. EA need to look at their current licenses though and weep themselves to death

its not all bad, i just wish the burnout mini game was a bit easier. but the upgrading and the wind tunnel thing is really cool. and the damage is perfect. bring on the disagrees for my honesty. *sigh*

24 - Its easy to hate the biggest game software company in the world

If you guys are so awesome, why dont you make games? Truth is, you are all clueless, pathetic, and uneducated. Give them a freaking break. It takes larger companies to take action and change things, EA isnt quite as agile as smaller companies. They have released very nice games in the past, Fight Night, Madden(say what you want, the game sells MILLIONS every year), NFS, BF series(deved my DICE sure, but EA has a huge part in its success, and BF2 and 2142 were very successful), Black, Skate, the simpsons (probably the best movie game of the year with ease), etc... The list goes on. They have accomplished a lot for a gaming dev company, and are a huge reason games are so popular now. Give it a little time, the PS3 improvements will come.

Not sure about others, but I will not buy any EA Crap this year. Why should we pay just as much for games that are made for the 3fixme? and they can't get them to work right..IW send a team to EA, cause they are a buncha tards that work for the minimum wage of devs.

ProStreet is spectacularly awesome! Yes, I'm biased to the point of forgiving it all it's "sins" simply because it lets me climb behind the wheel of a GTI Mk V instead of forcing me to grit my teeth & pick from the traditional list of Japanese tuner cars (I hate those friggin' things!) My only complaint with ProStreet is that the "road frame" is missing from the GTI's "cøckpit" view, because it's what draws me into the road & compels me to multiply posted speed limits by 2 when I climb behind the wheel of the one parked in my driveway.
