to be completely honest, i really hope the license ends. it was completely unfair for them to buy the title like that. i know its good economics, but we, the gamers, lose out on it. for 2 years, EA's shatted out a subpar game with numerous problems and if we want to play a football game, we're forced to buy it. (save 2k's offering)

granted, i don't play madden at all (soccer player for 11 years) but the vast majority of America deserves better..

I agree. This will give 2k the credit they deserve. EA screwed alot of gamers, especially PS3 owners with the lame version of Madden 08. It's ok but they cut corners on the PS3 version being lazy.

3 - That liscense exclusivity can't end fast enough for me

EA has been pumping out mediocre madden games for too long now. With them being the only OFFICIAL nfl game, they were able to get away with making TINY improvements because they new that we HAD to buy madden games if we wanted OFFICIAL nfl football.

If those 2k football games come back, then it will get EA to get off their butts and make a worthwhile football game. Because those 2k games were really getting good until that liscense bid crap happened.

i dont want to see another rehash of madden on any system from EA. GOD that game deserves to be burnt in hell. as a matter of fact that game is so broken that i dont know how in the world it escaped from hell's 8th inner circle. and whats worse is the freakin rehashes that EA drops every gets purchased by the fool, and idiot football junkies that cant find a better alternative for a football game. MADDEN SUCKS, PERIOD!!!! and should be condemned to hell along with it's designers for crafting such a horrid game. it totally does the sport no justice, with no improvement other than graphics. it not worth my money and it shouldn't be worth the smart people's money either

so we might have 2k football back that will be sweet idk i still pop in my old nfl 2k5 its just alot funner to me then madden and at its final game 2k5 vs madden 05 i perfered 2k5 cause it was fun to play madden just seemed so lifeless then e.a. bought the nfl rights i guess i never new about till this post hope 2k games is back

Yeah me too, maybe the best football game could sell better for once, even though i think Pro Evo needs to improve more than they have this last few years.

The license shouldn`t be able to have exclusively anyway. It would mean that Pro Evo would have to have better commentary and presentation too now, how they havn`t managed to improve that over the years, is a mystery to me.

What is failed to be seen here, is that the NFL licence makes tons of money for EA. The reason EA Chicago got closed is because it wasn't profitable, it had nothing to do with 2 out of 3 games being licensed, it did have to do with those particular games not selling well enough, regardless of being licensed. It could happen where the NFL decides to go back to allowing a free for all, but you have to remember that the NFL was the one that originally approached EA about buying exclusivity, and in Interviews the NFL is still pleased with the partnership so I wouldn't hold my breath.

11 - Finally...

I have never liked a Madden game. I have always bought 2K sports games since the days of the Dreamcast. Once this exclusivity expires, hopefully 2K will get back in their game and we will have some healthy competition to bring great football games back!

i see this room is full of madden haters!! if 2K sports football game is so much better why didnt you guys buy APF2K8. that game had horrible sales, an then it looked like an HD PS2 game. so until the 2K series can update its graphics an add some of the flare that madden has, 2K is ALWAYS gonna be at the bottom of the barrel!!

Agreed on all points, I found the new APF2K8 almost unplayable, you get sacked 3 out 5 times just trying to throw the ball, cause they dont break out of animations and play them all through. I will give presentation to 2K as Madden sucks at presentation, but Gameplay is what counts and I find Madden to play better, if that changes than so be it. But, as gnothe said, APF2K8 didn't even sell over 200k copies, and was reduced to 40 dollars like 2 weeks after release.

That is just the point though, if Madden is so much better, then why eliminate competition? The POINT is that there should be choice for gamers, this is not about which game is better, it is about allowing the option to try both, or several for that matter.

Thank the Lord! I used to like Madden and all but the game has gotten so god damn stale its disgusting. I can't wait for this contract to end to open up doors for 2K, and other football games so I can see some damn variety and to finally get EA off their lazy asses and make better football games.

17 - EA SUCKS

I USE TO SUPPORT EA BUT WHEN THEY PUT OUT A CRAPPY 08 VERSION, THAT CROSSED THE LINE. I WANT TO SEE WHAT 2K COULD DO WITH THE NFL. AT LEAST BRING THE CONTROLS THE PS2 HAD TO THE PS3. NOT THE 360 CONTROLS TO THE THE PS3, I WAS SO CONFUSED AND DISAPPOINTED WITH THE GAME. ALL OF THE PS2 OPTIONS ON THE CONTROLS FROM FORMATION SHIFTS AND PLAY ACTIONS WERE GONE. I WENT FROM AN OK MADDEN 07 GAME TO A MADDEN 02 GAME. AT LEAST TRY AND MAKE A PS3 MADDEN NOT A PORT.
