Alan Wake: Not a first-party title for Microsoft

The official Alan Wake forum has just posted an announcement in response to the rumor that Alan Wake is the "big Microsoft first party title" that is getting canceled.

"Microsoft Game Studios does not own the copyright nor the IP to Alan Wake. Therefore, Alan Wake is NOT a first party title for Microsoft."

The forum moderator adds:

"Remedy is acting as a third party developer for Microsoft Game Studios. MGS provides outsourcing and development resources for the game, but has no development power over the title."

360 lost exclusives

Ace Combat 6, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata, Katamari, Lost Planet, Full Auto 2, Viva Pinata, Blue Dragon, Oblivion, Condemned, Saint's Row (like how apparently Ridge Racer was a lost exclusive when the title never appeared on PS3), Assassin's Creed (announced first for 360 at X05 - http://www.joystiq.com/2006... ,Enchanted Arms, the list goes on and on.

And we can safely add Alan Wake to that list (though it was already on PC, but since most good 360 games are, it's only fair that Xbots would be desperate to cling to a made up title of "console exclusive". NOT FOR LONG!)

it's now for both (during the premier of assassins creed for ps3 people that were there reported that a 360 was under a table playing the game, after the announcement jade and her staff admitted it was true). http://www.xboxic.com/news/...

RE5 was announced to be multiplatform , many people believed that it was all a hoax, it was later soon to be proven true.

ARMORED CORE4 was ps3 only until people reported seeing a 360 logo next to ps3's it was thought that it was fake but the developers said it was indeed coming to 360.

DMC4 (i don't think anyone saw this coming ) it all started by the creator of dmc saying that the game's engine was capable of going multiplatform, rumors began to spread "as if it was like smallpox" ,then he went out and said that there is going to be a 360 and pc version......this all happened before a TGS or a E3 announcement.

as of now ps3 already lost some of it's exclusive games.

Guys, it is ALan Wake... I don't care what some mod says. I know what our computers say and if Gamestop isn't selling alan wake, due to it being "AXED" then line up, line up. "ha" Alan Wake is gone, folks. The xbox 360 version is no more. I'm sad to hear it, myself... believe me. then again, I have a kick nuts AlienWare Pc. So it's alright with me.

Alot of those games MSFT payed to get first most of them were going to multi platform games anyways.

Ace Combate: is a Playstation franchise that MSFT payed to get it wasn't a Xbox game to start with.

Eternal Sonata: is a multi platform game the devs made for the Xbox first because the PS3 fanbase was sh*t.

BioShock: no real proof its going to the PS3

Katamari: is largly a Japanses PlayStation game that MSFT got from the PlayStation you have it backwards on that one.

Lost Planet: released at the wrong time for it to be one the PS3 at launch as many of the games on your list.

Viva Pinata: was allowed to be Multi platform so MSFT can make money on a platform it will do good on MSFT decided on that game.

Blue Dragon: isn't a multi platform game that I know of.

Oblivion launched: at the wrong time for it to be a multi platform game the PS3 was delayed.

Condemned: launched at the wrong time for it to be a multi platform game the PS3 was delayed

Saint's Row: launched at the wrong time for it to be a multi platform game the PS3 was delayed

Assassin's Creed: Multi platform game.

For the most part you're moronic reasoning doesn't make any sense its not the fault of devs that would have made multi platform games but did not due to the PS3 being 1 year late.

The way I see is many of those games on your list are PS games MSFT won over then went back to the PS3.

MS struggles in Japan (although they did have a good...week...in Japan lately)...and not only that but the 360 is considered for casual gaming anywhere...Viva going on the DS or whatever is a very smart move on MS's part in the first place; software is the where the money is...

if they can't sell hardware somewhere...make their software available on platforms that do sell...they end up making more money that way anyway...

most of the people commenting in this thread aren't even 360 owners, or even fans. One can't even comment in a 360 thread anymore on this website.

And in regards to Alan Wake being cancelled. There is an official reply from Remedy posted that it hasn't been cancelled for the 360. What more evidence do you need?? Not to mention Alan Wake is a 3rd party title. Microsoft is only the publisher.

I am posting in this thread because I am a fan of Remedy...whatever Alan Wake ends up being, its very likely that it will be very good...MP 2 still looks better than a lot of much newer PC games, and is one of my favorite single player PC games of all time......

First of all the game isnt cancelled... remedy have confirmed this and two the demo shown running on the pc looks fantastic, and remedy have said the 360 version is identical. Get over it. This is gonna be great.

1st party, 3rd party...I could care less as long as it sees the light of day.

And for the record, folks; Remedy has stated that the game is NOT cancelled and is still in development.

The ONLY source I have found so far speaking of its cancellation was on a Sony fanboy's blog, minus sources, which he concluded with a bunch of 360 bashing and a long "hahahahahahahaha..." ; So he's hardly a reliable source.

I don't see why people get so annoyed about whether games are exclusive or not. The more people who can play a good game the better. Alan wake looks like its going to be an amazing game so to say its rubbish just because its not on the Ps3 is just ridiculous and short sighted. A good game is a good game regardless on what platform its on. It's not as though we work for these companies or anything.
Also do people dont realise that even if Sony or microsoft don't own the company they can still own the IP. Gears is a prime example for 360 and Tekken for the Ps3. Microsoft don't own Remedy but they put up the money for Alan Wakes development hence why its pc/360 only.

BTW Killzone 2 looks better..and and im glad to know that people actually played the entire game to know that's all the levels have a greyish atmospheric look,,,so umm didn't Gears have a similar look in some levels..???
