GTA creator leaning on Microsoft

Grand Theft Auto's creator Dave Jones has said he believes Microsoft has done enough with the Xbox 360 to be on an even footing with Sony this time around.

Speaking in an interview in the latest issue of Edge Magazine, Jones – who is currently working on 360 exclusive Crackdown – said over time he has found himself siding with Microsoft more and more – "I seriously question Sony's policy of leaving it down to publishers to come up with their own standards for each [online] game," Jones began.

i have to agree with his last statement. i like san andreas...but i like the more mafia feel of the GTA series than the gangsta type.

i still liked it though...just like i am loving saints row. in saints row i can make a mafia looking guy though.

8 - I do not want to flame here.

But it is really going down for Sony. There is no excuse any more. But think about it in a positive light. When Sega flopped all we had to fall on was Nintendo and Play station and they both got old real quick. Back then if they had an Xbox when the PS1 was out I would have chosen xbox then too. So look at it as if you were the gamer (PS3 fan bys/girls) who had to let go of some thing you loved and you also thought you had control over how much it loved you. What people need to realize is that you can never put trust in what man creates, because it will never quench your thirst for more. Sony got to big for their own good. They really took the stand point of “ Lets go all in even if all we have is hype they will bite hook line and sinker, and we will also get media format royalties BWAHAAHAHHAHHHAAAHAHAH!!!!” They think people have gold fish memories. No one I know fell for that emotion engine crap.
You know what else the only people who are die-hard Sony fans are
A. The guy who can’t use any other joystick outside of the dual shock.
B. The kid who so young the first console they remember is the PS1/2 About 9 – 13 years old.
C. The guy who is like 17 – 24 whose only friends are 9 – 13 years old.
D. The gamer that could play 007 on N64 but could not play halo on X1.
E. The kid who beloved the PS2 was really a super computer and then found out the X1 was more powerful
F. The kid who parents do not like Bill Gates. Why do people hate him? He is just rich and made life choices not to be a slacker. Oh yeah they are slackers themselves.
Bottom line get over it the 360 is sweet there is no need to try to justify being a PS3 fan boy any more. If you like the PS3 so much you are blind to the 360 your missing out bad.

Without his work on the first 2 GTA's their would be no other GTA's. Most of the things that people DO in GTA were in his first two GTA, stealing cars, doing missions. Those things were his vision of what the game should be and you can say there are 100 other games like it but why did his succeed over the rest? GTA 1 and 2 were well liked and reviewed games in their time and I played both of them when they came out. GTA 3 did more it to more regular 3d style and open world but it was still this guys game evolved into the next thing. Thus it is like if Kojima stopped making MGS games. Kojimas vision and input are what would continue to drive the game, and maybe people would evolve it to the next thing. Just as an example. He is doing the same basic GTA thing again with Crackdown which should tell you something about who influenced the GTA 3 change. Before saying he isn't relavent you really need to think more. Of course he will talk up the 360 in an exclusive release you just have to be smart enough to see that and all those who are not total blind fanboyts doo. But maybe just maybe in his experiance the 360 is the best system to make games for. If you as a gamer like the PS3 more buy it. It IS YOUR MONEY!

I played both as well and not to take anything away from him but you have to admit that from GTA3 is when the game became revolutionary and changed the game biz (ask any dev). Crackdown has to be 3D its not like he can make a 2D game right now and get away with it because it wouldnt sell. Lets be civil about this and not turn this into a fanboy post war. Im a 360 owner and a PS3 fan and I just simply stated a fact that the above dev is basically a 1st party dev for MS (at least at the moment anyway). So his OPPINION may be biased. Keep in mind oppinions are like @$$holes everybody has ones and they smell!

Geometry Wars. 2d massive seller on XBLA.

Since like february. I think its that sticker problem. You can hear the fan stop working and then it freezes so Im guessing it overheats. It's in an open space so it is ventilated. Had problems with NFS, Live, Saints Row and other games.

PS.also the devs point of view might be biased isnt the devs of Crackdown a 1st party dev for MS?

i have played 1 through 4. he created GTA. his GTA 1 & 2 have the exact elements that 3 & 4 use...or i should say 3 & 4 use the same elements of the first two to be exact.

anyway, all 3 & 4 did was turn it to first person and add cut scenes...plus more real estate.

this guy deserves full credit for the creation of the IP and formula that makes up the entire series.

12 - The title is misleading

I tell you when i read the title i was shocked because it says :(GTA creator leaning on Microsoft) I thought that they were talking about the guys that have created GTA III, Vice Cty San Andreas and the new one. But nooooo, it's been known since last year when Crackdown. What this article is not telling you is that The GTA creator that they talk about was the creator for the 2D ones on the PS1, he didn't even work on the ones on the PS2, furthermore he is no longer with RockStar he 's now based in Europe where he 's developping the game he thought GTA was going to be like Aka : Crackdown.

go ahead and brag but this article is misleading you all just like many others, you gotta be careful how you write and what you write because right now this article is making the 360fans believe that Rockstar is leaning toward MS.

see my reply to #9. he created the IP and the formula for the entire series. IF you played one and two...then you know that 3 & 4 are just first person views of the first two.
i mean they even play almost the same...same type of missions everything.

i would argue that really the first two had better missions than any of the others...i wish they would go back and remake the first ones in first person and in next gen graphics.
