LGC 2006: Ubisoft Using Assassin's Engine for New Project

The Scimitar Engine, the one powering Ubisoft's beautiful Assassin's Creed, is going to be put to work on more games from the French company. Claude Langlais, technical director on Assassin's Creed (and the chap who dropped the Assassin's Creed demo tidbit to us), told 1UP that the engine powering Assassin's Creed -- the Scimitar Engine -- wasn't just going to be used for the Holy War killing game.

Well said Mart. I went through 4 PS2's.
1st PS2 had a faulty drive
2nd PS2 had a cracked case. 5 weeks it took
Sony to send me another.
3rd PS2 i actually broke when i dropped it. I had to pay £75 for another one, even though i had a warranty.

And, finally after all that, my 4th PS2 just wouldn't work full stop. This was two years after its release in the UK, so you can't blame it on a defective launch unit. NEVER again will Sony get my money. If i get a new TV i choose every company over Sony. They overprice things and cut down on features. I don't mind being shouted at for being sad and overreacting, but seriously, Sony Customer Services are the worst on the planet!!

I know man, I hear ya.

I had a PS2 just after launch. My DVD drive broke down after just a year. Sony wanted to charge me too much money to repair.

I just dropped it in the closet and got an XBOX, which still works. You and I are not the only ones. If I look around in my surrounding, the 12 year old child of my sister got a PS2 and is sad because he doesn't have the money to buy a new one, his games won't play anymore. Best friends of me or have a non working drive or have regurlarly 'dirty disc' errors.

It's known widely, so any Sony fanboys saying theirs work, go look up PS2 in google type the word wikipeda with it and you can all read about it.

Sony service sucks. And that with products with these prices. MS gives in Europe 2 years of warrantee for free.

If a 360 breakes down, even after 1 year and 360 days, UPS picks it up, it gets repaired for free or you'll get a brand new one in just 1 or 2 weeks time.

Now that's service. Oh yeah and then about Sony lying, I'll give you this little story:

AC on 360. Yeah how hard Sony fanboys cry that it won't.

AC was called Project Assassins on X05 in Amsterdam. It was announced then and Ubisoft never said it is cancelled.

The only thing they say is: "At this point in time only the PS3 version is ANNOUNCED".

If it wasn't for the 360 for sure, by Sony paying them for the exclusive (Ubisoft is one of the main suppliers of games of the 360) then they would say:

"Assassins Creed is a PS3 exclusive. No timed one, just exclusive"

or

"Assassins Creed is only announced on PS3, it won't come out for 360, period".

They are turning around it like bad politicians though, speaking of at this time and everything else is a rumour. Like everyone expect: it will be a timed exclusive for a couple of months and maybe it's even more fun:

MS could have a big coupe in the making. Like GTA and Fifa 2007/PES6, they could just announce Assassins Creed for 360 on X06, a year after Project Assassin was announced.

That would give a final blow to one of the few games to get a PS3 for. So short for launch, it would give a huge boost to buy a 360 instead of a PS3

It's just getting boring now hearing people fighting each other about MS vs Sony.

Does it really matter!??

MS has a great console, with some fantasic exclusive titles all ready here and arriving in the next 6 months, and no Sony fanboy can deny that, no matter how much they love Sony.

The same goes for MS fanboys as well. Sony has some great games coming out as well, but not just at launch.

All it comes down to is jealousy. One console is getting Gears of War and the other is getting MGS4. One console is getting Halo the other is getting Heavenly sword. All parties involved would love to play those games on one console, but can't so they have to defend the console they are going for.

Personally, I couldn't give a rats ass. I own a X360, and love it. I'll buy a PS3 eventually, but not initally because of the lackluster of launch titles. Call of Duty 3 is the only title I'd buy for the PS3 on launch day, but I'll buy that on the 360 because it will be basicly idential, but once MGS4 and FF start arriving, that's when I'll invest, and at a cheaper price.

You people keep fighting, but at the end of the day, both consoles are great console. Sony will have initial problems like every console does.

1. AC was announced on X05 as Project Assassin for the 360. Nothing has been cancelled by Ubisoft officially so just say 1+1=2

2. It's not only the engine for future development. It's the engine.

3. Nothing to be desperate, but every game extra is nice. And you know what, next year you jajajajajaja will be desperate when the few games that are worth getting a PS3 for will be on 360 also. The only difference is: 360 got real exclusives no timed ones because MS has the money to arrange it.
