Mass Effective Filled with Impressive Features and Innovations

Just as the novelty of Master Chief's exploits start to wane a bit, the Xbox 360 will receive its second must-have sci-fi epic of 2007 in the form of Mass Effect, the space-themed role-playing game from Edmonton-based BioWare Corp., due to hit stores Nov. 20.

It's true that this game is looking quite good. Face it everybody. This game WILL be nominated for the award. If it doesn't win best game, it will most likely win best RPG. If you disagree, say an RPG that has been released this year thats better. There are none.

In all honesty, I thought Lair was going to be the game that slaughters any games for two years the way it was hyped. All I could say to Factor 5 after that game is GTFO. That was a steaming peice of overhyped sh!t. Heavenly Sword? Very repetitive. Played the demo and pressed x the whole time. The only time I didn't was the for the times I was in active sequences so that people can't say all they needed for this game was one button. Thats all I needed. Killzone 2 better be good for the hype its getting thats all I'm saying.

My opinion: I think that the reason this game has been pushed back so far is because of space constraints with the DVD. It doesn't look nearly as good as what they showed even a year ago, because of reduced textures and whatnot, which also screams space constraint to me. Because it's not a linear experience, you can't put it on multiple discs.

Also my opinion: The game looks great. There's been a lack of decent RPGs for a long while now, and I look forward to this game to fill the void. That said, I don't think it will be what the developers initially envisioned.

Agreed. I love games that require moral choices and so far, Mass Effect and The Witcher are the best 2007 RPGs with such elements.

if anything its the other way around, M$ promotes Halo far too much and there other great titles suffer becuase of it.

ala Bioshock, I was with a friend helping him pick out a 360 *we settled on the H3 sku* and he asked me a game that he should pick out.

I said over and over BIOSHOCK, all he went on about was halo 3, and now he has Halo and world championship poker XP

That box art is pretty cool, but it looks a lot like the regular version.

Edit: Ah, so it's not real. I wouldn't have minded if they used that as the real one, but usually there is a very big difference between the cover art of two different editions.

Mass Effect isn't overhyped...You are just upset, because the visuals are better than anything your system has ever seen, makes me ashamed to own a PS3. Heavenly sword does not look better than bioshock......and sonydoesn't pay for the hype as well?!?!?!?! They certainly do. When will you learn, it takes money to do anything. Microsoft has planty coming in it's future, don't you worry about that. Any game is 5x better than two worlds, but you were right in comparing that with lair, 'cause that is all it is worth.

KZ2 looks better than any console game Ive seen, miles better. When its ready to ship SONY would be stupid not to hype that title.

Mass Effect's character models are great, but the backrounds are a bit bland at times, thats why I dont think its going to win any sort of graphical awards....besides UT3 should be coming out in nov and that title could easily take best visuals for 2007.

Im anticipating this too, but when people are already calling this Game of the Year, I get this sick feeling in my stomach. Hype has two effects. It can either:
1. Inflate a game's scores beyond belief because reviewers don't want to admit they're wrong
OR
2. Destroy a game because it can't live up to what the masses expected.

I think this game is deserving of the hype.
Its all about pedigree.
Bioware. constantly pushes the boundaries, From KOTOR to Jade Empire to here.
Its not just the graphics. They are doing what they know, And we all know they excel at what they do.
but there are mis-fires like Lair, too be sure. Factor 5, should of been able to do Lair perfectly, considering their past catalogue.
But that is a Chance to take. Along with Assassins Creed, Which seems to be a natural evolution from Prince of Persia.
Its just about the pedigree of the company

yes Bioware did Jade Empire, but they have different teams within Bioware, the team that did KOTOR is mainly behind Mass Effect. I think the "fantasy" team(Jade Empire) is making a new title for PC. And btw its not getting hyped, some of us here have been saying Mass Effect possible GOTY contender for a long time because KOTOR won GOTYs(I remember IGN, overall Xbox GOTY)

Don't speak so soon, There will be more "Innovative games" coming to the 360. What the PS3 is the only system with Innovative title's, Not by a long run. The biggest titles PS3 fanboys boast about so much have no Innovation, FFwhatever isn't innovative, now is it. Nether will KZ2, it's just eye candy, Is that innovation? hmmm...I think not. Where is the most amazing innovative game for the PS3?? can you tell me that?? I don't think that you can. Don't hand me MGS4, who wants to listen to snake ask a question every 5 minutes. Do you call that innovation? Not me. The only good upcoming titles I see for the PS3, are GT5, and KZ2, sure it's not an innovative game, neither of them are, but they will be fun to play. Drake's fortune, more eye candy.....You all rag on Gears of War......what the hell do you think Drake is, same type of gameplay. shoot and cover. Did I leave anything out?? I don't think I did, think I made myself pretty clear. Oh yes, one more thing, You can't predict the scores of what a game will receive you have no idea. The game isn't hyped at all its amazing and people do not forget about it like other games it has already won awards but no this games is not hyped or marketed beyond belief.

For the most part its fanboys trying to bash it, thats the most hype it gets doesn't even have as many threads as some games and the threads usually never have more than 20 posts in them.

Little is known really, sure they have shown some basic core stuff about the game.

Didn't even know some of the depth of the gameplay untill a few days ago(the GRAW real time order giving using the D-pad instaed of pausing)

Any of you losers that haven't ever played a Bioware game shut up. All of us who have must and will be excited for this game. My personal favorite CRPG is Baldur's Gate II. It was so cool that you could create a character in the first one and carry him/her over to the second one and eventually to the final expansion pack Throne of Bhaal. It's the only RPG that I've played from beginning to end twice. In the expansion pack, Throne of Bhaal, you can make a choice to either sacrifice a party member and gain +2 strength or not sacrifice him and gain a little xp or something not as great. Also, the choices you made were important. How many times have you played an RPG and realized that your party members would just follow you blindly into a fiery pit and have no personality or opinions or anything?? How many times have you watched your main character say things you disagree with or be the good guy and just say nice things? Bioware allows YOU to make the decisions. You get to say what you want. You can be an a-hole, a nice guy, or indifferent. It's definitely better than reading text boxes like other RPGs. Your party members have opinions, beliefs, and thoughts of their own and they will disagree with you sometimes. That's just PART of what will be great about this game. Also, how can some of you talk bad about the graphics of this game when it's not even out yet? You guys who talk bad about games before they even come out suck.

MS is not hyping the game but the gaming press are due to the fact that bioware always make great games.So if you haven't played a bioware game before then i don't see the reason why you should be arguing in this forum in the st place.

You PS3 fan boys talk about the stupidly hyped Killzone.nut if you are adults and not toddlers you will remember that in 2004 sony touted Killzone as a game to kick halo 2 ass.With massive hype and a big media campaign.And what was its best rating 8.0/10.

We 360 fans base our love 4 games on the fact that these developers have constantly delivered and bioware have delivered big time 4 us with Jade Empire and KOTOR.So until you all have played those games,just shut up
