Bioshock makes Halo look 'amateurish': Review

A reviewer at the Vancouver Sun might have gone a bit overboard in his Bioshock review, calling Halo amateurish in comparison.

"It is a crowning achievement for 2K Games and makes Halo -- widely considered the most influential first-person shooter of all time -- look amateurish."

Halo 3 makes Bioshock seem like Duke Nukem.

Both games have AI but Halo's co-op & new vehicle based combat(game within a game) will put Bioshock to shame.

Playing through Bio now and the claim that it's better than Halo, is apart from being a little pointless anyway, simply not the case.They are both quite different in their aproach of course but Bio isn't as great as the staggering amount of 10's suggest it to be.9/10 i'd say.

I'm very much enjoying my time in rapture and this game certainly needs to be played through at least once - more like a few times at least i'd say to get the most out of it.

Bioshock is art and HALO is not? You know nothing of art or you would realize that HALO is masterful, artistic storytelling. Here is the best part.

It is the art of enjoyment and a world of fnas are not wrong about that. Let's see which game manages to have a social impact despite one ogf the titles being offered on 2 platforms. Bioshock is a good game but it misses the greatness HALO has achieved THUS FAR by a country mile.

I sense sheer snobbery among people that would give anything to see HALO dethroned. Well I have news mr pretender-to-the-throne. Ain't happening.

4.2 - Haze is going to be another Killzone!

Overhyped as a Halo Killer and end up flat on its face. While Halo 3 might not have a great single player or look as fantastic as Bioshock. The replay value of Halo 3 will out shine any FPS coming out in the next 3 years. I'm sorry but even Unreal T can't touch Halo on Multiplayer madness. If you disagree with me its only because you suck at Halo or are a sony fan flat out.

Haze will be good I think but not another HALO. Not by far. Part of the problem with Haze isn't the game, it is the dev team. There is such a thing as too much info. It is like seeing those trailers that give you the entire movie. What's left to see.

On the otherhand, Haze isn't going to be Killzone. But it won't be Killzone 2 either.

Why compaire Haze with Halo?.....

Haze isn't the same as Halo...
Its more of a FryCry game...

It should be compaired with TechLands...

that game looks great. The only game I've seen even close to matching that quality is Crysis.

Personally, I don't see why people compare FPS games anyway. Each game is built of the same ideas but just adding weapons/story/levels etc etc.

I look forward to Halo 3 just as much as I look forward to Haze, UT3, Bioshock, and Killzone.

a bit different look but project offset looks amazing as well, but I cant remember exactly which consoles its appearing on.....probably 360, pS3 and pc's. deffinetly my pick for powerhouse graphics engine to watch out for

Comparison with Warhound is more useless. Warhound is a game steeped in realism whereas Bioshock is a Science Fantasy shooter.

but the kind of mayhem you'll find in a Halo is far beyond any other other game currenly out there, the author clearly hasn't done his research, and hugging big daddys package so tightly has seriouly obscured his objectivity.

but thats pretty much the only advantage bioshock has over Halo3, graphics...or maybe not, halo's campaign usually have huge expansive worlds, and bioshock only has the underground setting....halo 3 has u flying all over the place and bigger battles with vehicles and AI companions..bioshock has no replay value really, maybe it does, once or twice....halo 3 has a campaign mode [with 4 player online co-op], and multiplayer with forge where the options there are endless...i think bioshock will only be making headlines for now but once halo 3 comes out, bye bye bioshock, and pretty much everything else

When you see so many writes writing about Haze, COD4 and Bioshock telling how much better they think those games are than Halo 3? It's like they HAVE to mention Halo 3 everytime they write a story about another FPS.

That just shows how important the Halo series is. Everyone is comparing their games to Halo. It's like in football....everyone wants to beat Man United =) But it's not going to be easy.

I always wondered if the halo fanboys ever played half-life 2. Put aside multiplayer (which is riddled with 12 year old trashtalking idiots that sit there and play the game for 15 hours a day while some of us actually have to work) and there isn't ANYTHING in Halo 1 or 2 that comes close to the experience of Half-Life 2.

Is it completely out of the realm of possibilities that Bioshock could be a better single player game than Halo 3? It is entirely possible.

But like has been said before, They are two VERY different styles. Halo is a first person shooter in the strictest sense. You run around and shoot the other guy more times than he shoots you. Thats it. You can play bioshock all the way through with the idea of busting out a weapon as a last resort.

If you like online games with cars, planes, tanks, helis, etc ... there are only a few games that have that. Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 are among them. Halo games are good (i have played them both), but don't even try to compare the online with the Battlefield series. Battlefield is in a deferent level.
