Online Multiplayer Patch for VF5 PS3?
27
Xbox 360 owners rejoiced when Sega and AM2 announced that their version of Virtua Fighter 5 would incorporate long desired online multiplayer features, but PlayStation 3 gamers who'd picked up the game earlier in the year felt left in the cold. A Games Convention 2007 interview with AM2 Assistant Manager Tohru Murayama at Total Video Games, however, provides hope for the future.
Murayama acknowledged that PS3 owners are disappointed and suggested there was "no doubt" AM2 could theoretically release a patch to add online multiplayer features to the PS3 version.

It will happen sooner or later, the game did well on the PS3 considering the current user base number. It would be poor on Sega's side to not release the patch.

2 - Cool -
Everyone knows the reason it wasn't included was because AM2 wanted to hurry and get this game to market. What a great gift it would be for them to give to players who play on a free online service. It just makes sense.

7.1 - i've said this before and i'll sauy this again for for the hearing impared like this guy above
for those of you uninformed swear they know it all tech fankids out there , that think online play being added by means of a downloadable patch isn't possible then you need to stop and look at Motorstorm. the jap version of that game was released without online, 2 months after the US version was released The japs got a gift from evolution on the PSN, can you guess what it was? an online patch enabling online play onto the "onlineless" Japanese version of Motorstorm.. and the same thing is about to happen to tekken DR this month with the online patch being added. the patch exists. because the game code is there. on the PS3 version there is VF tv which allows you to record your fights and upload them on PSN... so dont talk none sense...

not gonna happen, because for one sega has already made the money on this game when it was newly released for the PS3. their not gonna set up servers to run this game after all this time, especially at their expence.they dont have to spend any cash to run this game on the 360 an the 360 version is gonna sell more copies, so setting up online for the PS3 at this point is only gonna loose them money!!

good point but perhaps they could set up 1 server just as a lobby system while the players actually hosted the match themselves?
1 server is line a drop in the bucket even for SEGA.

12 - Microsoft is all behind this
Microsoft pay Sega not to make VF5 online play and later there's going to be online for the Xbox 360 version, Sega rethink and finally decide that it (might) release a patch for PS3 version.

you clearly have no idea about anything, in Japan the Virtua Fighter series is a phenomenon but it seems SEGA may not release it for the 360 in Japan so your theory of payment is flawed.
The VF series is the ultimate 3D fighter with more depth than the other 3D fighters put together, i'd love to know why you think an online patch cannot be done ?? please give your reasons for this ridiculous comment or haven't you time as it's time for mommy to take you to nursery

14.1 - agree with you on that
Tekken is way better then VF5.
Why Tekken is better? online play/customize characters/great gameplay/great graphics and enviroment. fight anywhere
Why VF5 suck?
no online play for PS3(Sega might release a patch for PS3 version)/fight in a ring/graphics are good but not that great/characters are pretty much bore with it/styles are not my type of playing HAHAHA
VF5 is pretty aite!!
It's just that I like Tekken a bit more than VF5.

VF5 owns all 3d fighters. Tekken is for noobs. Ask anyone who knows about
fighting games.

16.1 - Very true.
Tekken just appeals to the mass audience because of the INTERESTING characters and it's also easier for gamers to pick up. Most just put Virtua Fighter 5 down because it's too difficult to master and most of the fighters in the game lack personality (very boring).
