Bandai Namco "Not Aware" of PS3 Eternal Sonata

More information and double-speak on whether or not Eternal Sonata is multi-platform.

Quote: "According to game site Siliconera, the controller and the graphics made bringing Eternal Sonata to the Xbox 360 a no-brainer. What about a PS3 version? Publisher Bandai Namco told Siliconera that it was "not aware" of a PS3 version at the moment. How could it not be aware of that? It's friggin' Bandai Namco! The Japanese box for Eternal Sonata (AKA Trusty Bell) doesn't have an "ONLY ON XBOX 360" stamp on it. Thus, the game should be treated as such."

I'm just reporting the story exactly as it appeared on Kotaku - same title and everything. The writer at Kotaku goes into a little bit of detail regarding the ambiguity of the "exclusiveness" of Eternal Sonata. As it's discussing the potential for this game to be multi-platform, it belongs in both the PS3 and 360 channels, right?

Don't want to stir up any fanboy nests :) Don't kill the messenger.

3 - ^^^ Speaking of nests, the only stiring is from the type of bird pushing eggs out of nests so others can feed its young.

You probably right I can understand if it were real 360 and PS3 news I guess its about both consoles. I guess people would put both channels about a post with somebody day dreaming about MGS4 for both PS3 and 360.

Paranoia (n): a disorder characterized by a continuing and unwarranted suspiciousness, mistrust of people, and hypersensitivity. It is not a psychosis but those affected have great difficulty with interpersonal relations. They are quite critical of others but virtually unable to accept criticism.

A little newsflash for you, POG. I just reported what Kotaku published. Oh, and just because I have a ps3, you assume that I am anti-360, which is wrong.

In fact, I'm all for gaming across ANY platform, the more the merrier. Keeps me from buying three systems and upgrading my PC (which is a $2000 beast built only last year, that is quickly becoming obsolete - annoying). My only beef with the 360 is it's reliability, their catalogue is indisputably great. And I wish that the PS3 had more JRPGS too.

So, with that out of the way, how exactly am I a fanboy?

the facts:
1)ps3 sales in japan is more than 1 milion.
2)xbxo 360 sales in Japan is 420000.
3)namco bandai is a Jap company.
4)many people in Japan who own a ps3 want it.
5)if eternal sonatra go to ps3,it will sell more than the x360.

Its great its on XBL many millions know about it and many like its realtime action plus turnbase gameplay.

Its eye candy with some good old fashioned adventuring( you walk around collecting stuff talking to people who warn you to watch out for the scary beast you must slash to death).

8 - oH!, I know why people are dissagreeing -

- They've read the PS3 version announcment or even PS3 being mentioned by the dev other than them saying PS3 what?. Sounds like they havn't even really thought about PS3. I wonder if this game's part of MS's Japanese agenda which would be under some sort of contract as if they would develope this type of game for a western console without some sort of deal to maximize sale's for a long period of time.

Will it even be the same game?, this game looks like Gears of War but with an Artoon art-style.

Thats because it's not comming out on ps3, the source of this roumour was the ERSB website which accidently listed the game comming out for ps3, but was quickly removed. If the site was 100% accurate we would of seen GTA:SA on gamecube.

It's probably coming to PS3 just as Encharted Arms does. But, in the end only N/B hold the last chance for this... Bamco (we) PS3 owner WANT Eternal Sonata on PS3. Oh, no chance to get a Xbox360 sooo guys don't insists to get a Xbox360 instead or something like this ^^ .

20.1 - Japanese developers are seeing their market share shrink...

As the world gaming market grows, it is growing faster *outside* Japan. So japanese developers are paying more attention to the export market and developing games that won't necessarily sell in Japan but will sell in the outside world.
That is what Capcom's CEO is up to.
And considering the million plus sales for each of the two 360 exclusives, he's laughing all the way to bank.
That is also why Ubisoft was granted a Naruto license *solely* for the west.
Western tastes are different but there's money to be made out here, even by Japanese gaming firms not named Sony and Nintendo.

Oh, and Trusty Bell/Eternal Sonata *was* funded by MS.
What the oh-so-polite Namco exec meant was: "I'm not aware of any Sony plans to pay for a port and since Microsoft's check didn't bounce we're not hurting for money."
In other words, no, its not coming to PS3 any time soon.
Namco has other uses for their PS3 developers anyway and, as pointed out, the game didn't really appeal to japanese gamers so there is no real incentive to port it.
