lol console sales ARE NOT the only thing to look at. Software sales is really where you make your money. Ppl buy a Ninetendo for wii sports, this is the problem with looking only to casual gamers. They dont keep buying your product.

lol... the disagrees have begun coming in. However, show me anything anywhere that says that I am wrong. What is the attach rate for the Wii? look it up.

I own a Wii and have fun playing wii sports and super smash bros is gonna rock. However, you cannot deny the facts.

EDIT: Wow DubC I didnt know that about Japan. Ninetendo seems to be selling software over there like crazy, thanks for the info.

People need to realize that the world wide sales charts are going to change alot in the next 10 months if you think that NINTENDO will be the leader at the end of this gen then your wrong. Every analysis know that the WII is going to be the second in the race and that the PS3 is going to win in the long run, just look it up and by the time HALO3 comes out 360 will be first all over again.

This gen isn't just about who will sell the most consoles the fastest but who will sale the most in the long run to be the winner of the console war. And its about the games that sell the consoles like GOW,MGS4,HALO3,FF13&VS,GTA 4,AND GT5(i didn't name WII games cause i wanted to mention the real heavy hitters).Those games will sell consoles and change the world wide sell charts by the end of Q2 08.

To ItsDubC: Every analysis is saying that it will be determined by 2010 or 2011, but it will be very clear by end 2009 who will be the winner. You can look it up your self theres tons of articles and videos from the top analysis , its not like i'm making this up. I'm not a fanboy (i own a 360 I'll own a PS3 by the end of this month and i'm getting a WII in oct) its just that alot of people think that the way things are going right now means theres a clear winner, this console war just begun.

But judging from all the other posts on here, and public perception it seems that the Wii will have the most returns and exchanges if they don't keep their software game up.

Metroid and Mario, will keep them in the running for a while though.

This console race will be unpredictable in the next few years.

And then Apple will make a console with three graphics processors, and 10 Cell processors and absolutely SMASH THE COMPETITION

From like six months till now,everytime I check,360 is holding the 11M mar. When will that change?
I'm not trying to diss 360 or anything, but that is weird.If it trully was 11M from 6 months then I guess it would have been like 14M by now.

So while 360 and Ps3 fans have been fighting over which console is better, word of mouth has been pushing Wii's out the door like crazy! Before the Wii was released everyone was praising it and by doing so it has helped create hype that has stayed on the tip of many peoples minds! Rather than talking so much about how 360 and PS3 sucks we should be trying to push both consoles and hyping them up just like we did with the Wii! I'm happy for Nintendo but just think it's time for people to start putting the PS3 and 360 in the heads of people as the must have systems! Since Nintendo is so close to MS I just wonder how many games they have sold per console compared to 360! At E3 Peter Moore made a comment and I bet Wii is no where close to 360 in game sales but still there doing great in console!

The Wii attach rate is actually pretty close to where the 360 was at this point in its lifecycle, somewhere between 5 and 6 I believe. They are both moving similar amounts of software.

The 360 sales charts always seem weird - didn't Mircrosoft say the sold 10 million as of the close of 2006? That would mean they haven't even sold half a million in 7 months - which contradicts what we've been hearing. More likely that they didn't hit their goal last year I would think. I also wonder how RRoD comes in to play - I guess most people are getting refurbs as replacements so it probably doesn't have a huge impact.

I don't think Halo 3 will push as many consoles as people believe, I mean yes people bought xbox because of Halo. But it's Halo 3 now, the game is WELL KNOWN, all the fans of halo have already bought xbox 360 just for halo 3. I mean if you logically think about it, if you know a game is coming for a system, you buy the system and wait for the game, that's what most people do. I know that's what my friends did and a lot of people have. So, there might be a couple hundred thousand more people that haven't gotten it, so will Halo 3 reallyy push console sales that much? I mean, I'm not denying Halo 3 is going to be huge, but I'm just wondering if 90% of the people that want it...have already gotten 360?

Just a thought...I'm not bashing anything.

And also you can't say PS3 is going to win simply because it will be out for longer, because in 3-4 years microsoft and nintendo will probably come out with newer consoles, so then then they have the advantage of making their new systems better. Then again they might not have games, but then PS3 would be in it's on gen, if there consoles would be next-gen of next - gen, but if the tech in PS3 can has a lot under the hood (which is probably so) then yeh i guess PS3 would be competing in 2 gens you could say....I dunno...i'm bored :'(...and my head hurts.

Wii is not next gen. The POS doesnt play dvds, the online service is $hit, the graphics of 100% multiplatform look worse than ps2. SO other than the fancy controller it really is freaking BACK-GEN console. And before you 2 Wii supporters get up in arms, my bro bought the wii cuz he didn't want to pay so much for a ps3 and i already had 2 360s. Man the only fun i had was playing the sports game with him (yeah we were dipicted as Eggs with faces and hands). He picked up Pirates of C and Blazing Angels. On his 46" Bravia, blazing was running at awesome speed of 15fps in split screen with grafics which looked blander than standing in middle of sahara desert. POC was also POS and probably PS2 would have better graphics.

I pity the people who are real gamers that are stuck with playing Wii instead of either a ps3 or a 360. So what if it reaches 20million in next 10 months it doesnt make it a better console than a 360 or a ps3.

EDIT: @ Wii defenders below. Either you are in your early teens or have never played a game on either a 360 or a ps3. I'm sure zelda and mario will keep you guys happy with their next gen versions. As for me i dont have your idea of gaming but have only enjoyed gaming since the 80s from atari to C64 to amiga to ps1, 3DO, ps2 pc and now 360. Each gen offered a significant amount of improvement over the last gen specially in audio visual department. WHoever said that Wii's gfx are better than ps2 must be playing it on 14" tv screen cuz on a big screen it looks slightly better than ps1. For me next gen doesnt mean a step backward in anyway and least of all gfx.

Whoever said graphics dont matter have never experienced what difference a 3d voodoo card made to the original Quake or Descent on the PC. I'm sure you would love playing racing games on your cellphones as well.
