some of them games are coming to x box and ps3. well apart from crysis

But looking at some of them u would think
Crysis is able to be done on Consoles

if not Just the Ps3.

Neither console can pull off Crysis even if they were DX10 compatible. Hell, my 8800GTX has more memory and juice than either console, and it is just a video card.

It's running at 30fps because EA mad eit that way, not because it can't handle it. A Sony guy said so in an article I read about it a few days ago. He said don't look at us (meaning point the finger at EA because they made the game).

It's possible because previous sports games have run at 60fps on the Cell so using Madden (A game I won't touch anyway) and saying the cell can't handle it is utter bull.

...Mark Rein said that the PS3 version of UT3 is going to be 60 fps at 720p I thought...could be wrong...but the pace of the game seems like at least 60 fps is almost essential...he did confirm that the framerate of the PS3 version is right on with the PC, its just that the PC version will support much higher resolution...

and @ 1.1...the only thing that matters is the optimization of the engine...CryEngine 2 can definitely be run to some degree on a console...and the only thing all that extra memory supports is higher resolutions...meaning neither console could ever touch a PC in that department...

both the PS3 and the 360 are capable of visual effects that DX9 PCs are not...while a DX10 system has the potential to get even more complicated code wise, both consoles can do a lot more of the effects than most people realize...The Cell is most likely capable of the physics that CryEngine 2 can support, especially considering all those physics still do not need a physics card for the PC yet...the point when seperate physics processors, or entire physics cards are needed, is when the PC will blow the consoles away on more than just a slightly higher resolution...

The Cell can run Crysis on its PS3 CryEngine 2 SDK. Crysis IS NOT coming to the consoles though. Crysis is PC exclusive.

As far as UT 3 goes who came up with 30 FPS its been 60 FPS since I heard about it.

Madden 2008 is only a ported game. When will developers learn not to port their games? PS3 can definately handle games at 60 FPS.

Yah, I mean the level of detail in Crysis is comparable to that in Unreal Tournament 3, and UT3 is coming to the consoles, so I don't think it's impossible to run Crysis on consoles. Obviously, some of the aspects of the game would need to be heavily modified to make it run well on the consoles.

Crysis, comparatively speaking, certainly looks more realistic though.

Handles lighting better, UE3s lightings are alittle....
unrealistic(ironic...)....
(example-Look at the 5(the ones with the planes and choppers...Look at the shadows)...

so...white engine isn't even on the radar then, huh?! Well it looks like this generation of game consoles will be largely dependent on PC developers' engines. That said, Last Remnant looks to be indicative of the future: strong 3rd party developers having to license PC oriented enignes (I guess they must be that flexible/superior) in order to make games go multiplatform.

8.1 - Epic can make games look very well but

They use unrealistic Lighting to make it so.
They use a darker tint so then the light hits objects they look
alot better (killzone2 Does the same)
The reason Crysis(and others like it)
look(to some people) alil worst is because its set out doors, where there is alot of light and the Color tints are bright.....

You can try it in most games...in dark areas use a flashlight(ingame durr... if its avaliable) and you'll notice the details are ALOT more defined....

So yeah, Graphics rely on the artwork and setting as much as it does on
the engine it self...

9 - Hard to compare

Chopper picture looks better on cryengine, but comparing ut3 with the cry footage it´s hard. Ut3 has that Gears look but a little sharper and crysis has a little more realistic look to it. It´s Artistic agains t realistic, i think this is kinda the same as when u compare Gears with Kz2. It all depend on wich feel you like moore.

UE3 looks good but CryEngine looks more realistic and pulls off the better effects.(lighting, shadows..etc.)

It would be more fare to compare games with the same art style. Epic games are more Sci-fi in nature.

Unreal has better looking charactors while Crytec has untouchable over all graphical edges in enviroments consoles just cant do in my opinion they don't have the RAM.

You should get your eyes checked. Textures and lighting are much more realistic and doesn't look have that CG lighting look. Then there is a little matter of the physics which will be better with the Crysis engine.

crysis has a slight edge in detail and texture quality, but i love the crazy sci-fi style of UT3 over crysis. id say crysis looks more realistic, and UT3 has the flash/wow factor. Crysis can mix it up tho, with the snow environments and sunset in the jungle looking hawt

why do the games Frontlines Fuel of War and Huxley look like crap compared to UT3 and Crysis? is it true epic is selling gimped versions of its engine?

Unreal is the most widely used next gen engine right now so it was bascially created for wide application for PC and Consoles. Crytek however is so advanced and powerful that only a handful of PC will even be able to run it let alone 360 or PS3. I don't see how Crytek 2.0 can compete with Unreal on consoles. I mean in order to run Crysis on consoles you will have to water it down which in turn brings it to the level of Unreal engine.

Two different approaches
Unreal is made for the masses
Crytek only for a select few

In the long term Unreal will become the most sucessful engine because of the amount of high quality games being produced on it. Crytek so far has 2 to 3 games including Crysis, Far Cry and new MMORPG.

Wow you talk about a tough one to call... This is really hard. Both gaming engines seem amazing... and they both have reasons why they are good.

As far as bringing Crysis to the PS3, Of course this is possible -I am pretty sure that once the PC version of the game is released and does well they will put their focus on a PS3 version of the game, I don't know if they will make a 360 version but the PS3 version is being focused on.

You don't have to take my word for it you can do a google search (Crysis on PS3).

The game would be amazing on PS3, some clever tricks will have to be done to get the effects that Direct X10 bring to the table but the game would look amazing and definitely be a huge seller for PS3.

CRYSIS could be easily done on both consoles.

Its scaled back 2-3 years and scaled forward 2years as well. Meaning later on when g92 comes out, you'll see better fx with it.

And dx10 is just an api, doesn't mean anything, it only applies to windows and xbox360.

PS3 doesnt fully work that way. It is not limited by that api.

Thats why in the end, you'll get more from the ps3.

Cell does most of the work in Lair, thats whats clever about the ps3.

The rsx is basically a pixel painter.

Cell is the real power.

You'll see this more and more with ps3 as time goes on.

I'm not knocking xbox360, as alan wake, and many games to come will still look excellent.

But you have to remmember 360 is done in the conventional way, whereas the ps3 isn't.

And its for the reasons above, that if i say crysis on ps3 would not be a problem, all dx10fx, would be done on the cell.

The only thing I care about is...if Cell is so great then why can't it run UT3 at 1080p 60fps, hell can it even run at 1080p 30fps with the same details as it would with 720p?? The PS3 IS a 1080p machine is it not? If Crysis is coming to the PS3 then I want it to run at 1080p 60 fps too. All this crap about Cell is just that, crap. If Cell is such a miracle do-all processor then it shouldn't break a sweat running nexgen games at the system's listed resolution.

you dont know what you are talking about, your whole idea about dx10 and the 360 is stupid. every one knows the ps3 is superior on paper but when it comes to developers having access to that power the xbox 360 clearly outperforms the ps3, thats why you see most ports look and play better(madden)on the 360.one thing i got to give to ps3 is that the cell cpu is really powerfull and developers can do amazing physics but then it also has its weakness and you dont want to know about them, just put it this way, remember that headcahe that hurt like a mother??? and it just wont go away???

Both engines are great neither sucks in any shape, way, or form.

And seriously judging a game engine looking at screenshots is probably up there on dumb things to do when your bored... Atleast match trailers at the min.

Cant wait to Play Crysis, and just about any game now a days; as far as the UT engine goes :)
