The Darkness demo has gone missing from XBLM

The Darkness has apparently gone dark on XBLM. The demo has recently disappeared from the network and Joystiq is attempting to verify the reason for its disappearance. Major Nelson states, "The operations team pulled this ... it will be back up later today." 2K Games is investigating the retraction from its end as well.

1.1 - Wow guess I got the demo just in-time then.

I must agree I was going to get this game too, but after the demo I'm done. I don't need that game.

It was cool the way it started and the idea and concept of the game was cool too, I even like the look of it the feel of the guns and how animation changes when you bump into stuff as the guns point up.

However that's where the fun stops. The whole time the controls for some reason are slow and that makes the game suck, you don't turn fast like you would in a FPS and aiming is weired as it somewhat auto aims. That part sucks too.

The feel of the game should have been more like Max Payne, the monsters on your side should do more but they are more like eye candy then real super powers.

I walked away hating the game even though it seemed like a good concept. The dark parts are too dark and pointless... all this stay in the dark is cheesy if you ask me. But whatever I'll pass.. too much good stuff coming out soon to be wasting money on a rental. (but thanks to the demo you don't even need that)

I like it! Though it reminds me in many ways of Prey (which was good too), I think I'll wait for the $30 price drop simply cause the multiplayer will get old quickly.

I'm glad I got to play the demo, save me 60 bucks which I intended not to buy. If you ask me, the game is so so. I deleted it after about a minute of playing time, no fun.

its one of the best storytelling games you could ever play. I dont know how a demo could do the game justice.

At least rent it, and play to end of the Orphanage level. If you are not hooked on the game by then, its not for you.

Why are you guys basing this on the demo? The game's INCREDIBLE! Just read ANY review of it! The storyline's one of the best in years, the added touches (especially the PS3 version) are a great draw-in, the music is good enough to have a bestselling soundtrack, and WHY ARE YA'LL SAYIN' THE DARKNESS IS JUST EYE-CANDY!!! Those things don't just have one power, you know! You gain powers throughout the game!

Definitely worth 60 bucks!

There are just too many new good games, I personally am saving that 60 bucks for Lair. As for the PS3 Version, all I heard was the graphics were not that good, meaning not a good port. It might have been worth it if it came out in February or something but not now. I will give you bubble though for trying.

9 - This is hilarious

This game got great review after great review but then the demo comes out and everyone think it sucks.

I guess I should play the demo and compare it to the full game but I probably am not the best person to do it because I, in fact, was not as impressed with the game as many other people. For me though I think it had to do with the theme and the overwhelming oppressively dark/depressing feel of the game (for me). I also had VERY HIGH expectations because of how much I loved CoR.

I still thought the game was good, was VERY impressive looking graphically and I got used to the controls to the point it was pretty fun and even easy to wast mobsters and corrupt cops alike. If it wasnt for the theme of the game I would have probably liked it a lot more. The story was good but was "darker" then I prefer my storys to be.

For those of you who have made up your mind to "skip" this game, I would suggest you keep it on your list to "pick up when cheap" because I do think its worth at least one playthough and some of you may find it funner then you think. Thats what I did (am still doing) with FEAR whose demo underwhelmed me to the point I skipped it.
