Exclusive Gears PC Content 'Unlikley' to Arrive on 360s

AMN ran into Epic's Mark Rein and lead game designer Cliff Bleszinski during today's E3 2007 events.

When questioned on the possibility of the exclusive Gears of War PC content appearing on the Xbox 360, we found that the while technically possible, the chances are looking rather dim. While Mark Rein dodged the issue more or less, we found Cliffy B to be a bit more cooperative. "If we didn't have any exclusives on the PC, why would anybody have the PC version?" 1.2 - look closely at E3 when cliff played the game ???

when they showed off the extra content on E3, he was playing the game with an xbox 360 controller, so what the hell are they talking about its not coming to 360? , his friend played it on the pc version, but cliff was playing it with a 360 controller? unless they hooked it up with a pc system, can someone explain this to me?

Console gamers have MADE Gears what it is today - I can understand that they would hold back the extra content so we all buy the PC version but plz, Xbox 360 owners have made Gears the #1 Next Gen Game, EPIC should SERIOUSLY consider rewarding their true fans with this extra content after the PC release.

I figured this would happen, too. But couldn't they just release the PC content to 360 users with XNA?

I thought MS made XNA so it'd be super easy to port game/content between the PC and 360? What happened to that? Poor 360 users.

Doesn't the campaign come with 5 more levels? That's what I heard. *shrugs*

Come on, M$ -- get your head out of your butt and allow user-created content for games, not just stupid pictures.. Sony has this, there's no excuse--I know you're trying to protect the bottom line, but give up the protectionist attitude!! Oh yeah, and bring the extra levels to the 360-- Where's VelocityGirl's extra skate parks?!? And (while I'm swinging for the fence), give us news/weather & a browser also! While my Wii browser isn't ever going to replace my laptop browser, it is very fun to watch YouTube/N4G on the tv (and also the Wii weather/news). Don't fear something that will bring in even more happy 360 owners!!! gCM

I'm not going to buy Gears for the PC just for a couple extra missions and new achievements. I'd be more than happy to download them, but I'm not paying full price for something that I've 95% played already.

Seriously, I don't even see how they think that's fair.

The PC version price better be at least $80 or more because that's what us 360 owners have already spent...$60.00 for the game ($70 if they do the CE)...$10.00 for the second batch of multiplayer maps. Throw in the five extra chapters, new gameplay mode and a map editor, and us early adopters feel very cheated. They're basically saying, "F*ck you, we don't care that 4+ million of you bought the game and made it as popular as it is."

8 - I can tell you this.

I will NOT be running out to buy Gears of War 2. Not when they are pulling this kind of sh*t. The single player campaign on the 360 was lame ass short..short to the point of don't buy this game if you're looking for a rich campaign. 5 more chapters on the PC, all new maps, new multiplayer modes, map editor, etc.. The 360 version is completely gimped.. But Epic got their $$$$ they are moving on.. Thank you 360 owners now get out of the way... Very bad news for the 360 indeed and this is the flagship title now that Halo is wrapping up.. This is the problem with having your flagship title being dev'd by a third party. MS you need to strengthen your first party or just get out of the way for Sony because they are going to eat you alive.

8.1 - Microsoft did that to Halo 2 also!!!

They gave it a map editor and 2 exclusive maps. I hate it when this happens cause the PC always get the better version. I think PC should have more games of its own instead of taking other gaming system's games to make it better with extra content, while the early adapters are left hanging feeling like they got a half done version of the game.

does everyone really believe its not coming to PC??? are you guys serious?? they just cant confirm to get more sales for the PC,
BUT with over 4 million sold on xbox, extra content at 10 bucks a pop should be expected.

i'm not even worried.... either way, we got dark sector coming out too, which they say plays alot like gears of war....we got sh(t to us busy till they release the extra content.

but Cliffy B didn't rule it out completely. I personally would be happy to see it come to the 360 as downloadable content. He11, even if they integrate it into Gears 2. Hopefully they will make it happen in some way, shape or form. It only seems fair to the early adopters and supporters of the game on the 360. Time will tell I suppose.

This all depends on how the GEARS PC edition does. Obviously Gears already have a huge and strong fanbase on the Console, so if anything if PC don't push much software, I think these content might show up on the Box. Plus we have Gears 2, to look forward to and one of the greatest Fall/Winter gaming line-up known to man.

Yeah, I always wondered why I never fought that big monster with all the guns, when I escaped to the chopper. Saving it for the PC version I see.

Right now not many negative MS news can bring me down, plenty of games to play, I have yet quite figured out how I will afford them with X-mas and buying others presents and sh!t, plus my 1080p Samsung 40 inch LCD, in time for Halo 3, I hope.

These contents will be Milked if it does come.

14 - Wouldnt this defeat one of the primary purposes of getting a 360?

The only reasons why i would ever consider getting a 360 is for Halo 3 and Gears, which halo 3 will more than likely go to PC(if it hasnt already been announced for PC) since halo's 1 and 2 are on it(i think halo 1) and now that gears is going to PC, i honestly find no reason for me to get a 360, so whats the point of getting a 360 if you have almost all the features on a PC? And before you bring up guitar hero... theres a free guitar hero for PC online, google it, and you make your own tracks for it, so there is no literally no reason at all to get a 360, besides you can hook up a PC to an HDTV and get it to work, or just buy a bigass monitor :)

So, what are the reasons for getting the 360 when basically every good title is on PC(halo, gears) seriously?! I own a PS3 and a Wii, and i kept away from the 360 because i knew those titles were going to PC, so why get one? If someone can atleast point out more than 5 reasons to get one, i may consider it atleast, dont mention any games because i have them on PS3 other than gears and halo :)

Well, if those are the only two games you care about, then there is no reason for you to get a 360. It would be pretty silly to spend $400 on a system that only has two games you want.

I personally am also interested in Mass Effect, Bioshock, Forza, Banjo Kazooie, Alan Wake, Blue Dragon, Two Worlds, Project Gotham, Viva Pinata, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Overlord, Eternal Sonata, and Dead or Alive.

Also, I would need a pretty nice computer setup to run gears as smoothly as it does on my 360...and I don't feel like upgrading my computer every time a new GOW or Halo comes out. Finally, while you will be able to play GOW (and probably Halo 3) on your PC at some point, it's going to be at least a year after 360 owners have completed it. I don't feel like waiting until October of 2008 to play Halo 3...but if you don't mind and it's the only exclusive you care about, then you're better off with your PS3.

Not every gamer games on a PC, paired with countless upgrades to play a game like the developers want you to, or in any fashion where it is not degraded, if your PC might not be up to snuff.

1. You have only PC games.(Expensive to maintain every 6+ months to a year)

2. You have only Console gamers(The best bang for your bucks there)

3. You have Hard-Core Gamers of BOTH.(They can really choose what they wanna get)

Pc's will always have the best quality and best graphics, over any console. It's always been like that but yet Consoles still sell very well. Why? because the casual user does not go out to purchase a $2000 rig, or neither does Moms/Gramps purchase a nice computer just for gaming or 2 games you might of heard coming on the Xbox 360 and PC.

You will get plenty games not on either or. Either way, if you have one your loosing out on some other potential games.

I just bought a QX600, 3 GB of ram 700GB of HDD space and Vista, and will be upgrading my card soon but, when was the last time I bought aPC game....a while ago. I rahter play games on a 40 inch LCD 1080 Samsung, which I'm getting, on my couch, and not sitting up close to my computer. Pc gaming have been on the decline, but some how MS thinks they can revive it with VISTA and DX10.

As for the content, did you miss the title of the article? He said the exclusive content is "unlikely" to come to the 360.

Is Cliffy serious with that quote? Isn't the PC version for people who don't have a 360? I can't ever imagine someone buying the PC version if they already beat it on the 360...even with a few more levels added.

I have to admit, I feel a little betrayed by Epic on this one. I'm willing to pay for the extra levels, at least give me the option!

That really doesn't make much sense, because the game still runs on MICROSOFT Windows XP/Vista.

However, Epic making UT PS3 holiday exclusive could be for the whole DLC fiasco.

Oh well. Like was said by someone else, I'm not gonna rush out to get Gears of War 2 if this is how Epic treats the consumers. Why pay $80 for a game, when it'll come to the PC later, with more content, for probably cheaper? Yeah right. Epic can kiss my ass if that's how it's gonna be.

but you know Gears 2 has a HIGH chance of being on the PC aswell. But I don't see that happening for 1 year or so after the release of Gears 2 for the 360. IF it does get on the PC, I hope Cliffy doesn't do what he's doing right now. Thats gonna piss people off even more :P But in either case, Gears 2 is going to be awesome.

Seafort. What sucks is that the 360 won't get the extra content. I'm not saying that the PC shouldn't get the game, I'm even not saying that they shouldn't have had it at the same time. I just want to fight that big b#stard.
As for RTS I agree. I don't like playing RTS on a console, but I disagree about mmorpg. Unless of course they are like Final Fantasy 11. That was just wrong.......

Pc gamers get a single game from x360 and its mass uproar.

Now u know how pc gamers feel when console gamers get one of the pc franchises exclusively such as call of duty or medal of honour. They were on pc way before any console version came out.

Maybe u all should think before u start typing. And halo1 or 2 dont count as they are mediocre games on pc no matter the hype on console it gets.

Another thing get the hell off RTS and mmorpg games on pc too. Console gamers get the best deals now. Epic is and always has been a pc developer and Unreal 3 engine was designed on the pc ffs but u still get gears of war first.
