Microsoft cuts Xbox price in Japan

Microsoft Corp., which trails Sony Corp. and Nintendo Co. in game-console sales in Japan, will offer its new Xbox 360 model at a cheaper price in the country than in the U.S. to help gain market share.

edited: many has not opened the link and just start adding comment , once you open the link you will realize it is not price cut it just states that the Elite will go in sale in japan for lower price than the US nothing more.

If they do, M$ is going for the throat, and trying to seal the deal.

9 - FFXIII would help...

If they want to improve their situation in Japan, they better hope they're able to land a deal with SE to provide Final Fantasy XIII on the 360. That's the only thing that might save them, and even still it probably won't be enough.

Not surprising at all. The 360 has had an uphill struggle in Japan, and with some first-rate titles coming out, this may be their best attempt at winning market share: Make those new games more attractive by offering the system at a cheaper price.

Xbox 360 profits $100 each system sold and they're still beating the ps3 in total sales so no hurry for Microsoft. Sony on the other hand are desperate for a price cut. If Sony does cut the price it will mean they wont make any profit from the console for a long time. Either way it's bad news for Sony. Microsoft has all the cards.
