The Darkness. You work best when you're in the shadows, it's a grisly and occasionally gruesome tale, and it also happens to be the name of the demon festering inside of you. Yes, for multiple reasons, The Darkness is a perfect name for this first-person shooter from 2K and Starbreeze, the developer responsible for The Chronicles of Riddick. Based on a comic book from Top Cow, The Darkness weaves an interesting and authentic tale of mobsters seeking revenge together with an otherworldly force with an insatiable appetite for human hearts.

I have it right here. It is pretty nice.
But again, wtf is the deal with the black borders on top and bottom of screen? (standard TV/ Ps3)
Anyone else have this? I know allot of you out there don't have HDTV like me.

1.1 - That's just HD content scaled down in a letterbox format.

If they did it without the borders some of the screen would be cut off at the sides.

This game truly feels Nex-Gen in gameplay and in story driven action. I strongly recommend you to check it out.

3.2 - Thats funny

I dont really understand that statement. I know when i started playing it, it gave me 6 different color Variation to chose from. Since its purely subjective (picking which color scheme looks best) i dont see how one can have "better color"

3.3 - I don't recall them saying 360 graphics were better. Just that PS3 had better colours. 360 was a "bit sharper"

@above, it's probably when you pick the same colour scheme on both, as I assume they did, PS3's colour scheme looks better than that same scheme on 360.

4 - sure about that...

i sacrificed force feedback for the extra stuff they put in the blu-ray.. the ps3 version includes a nice "accomplishment" system, reminiscent of Resistance's, so i'm not missin the achievements so much... the graphics are supposed to be "virtually identical", the same textures from the HD vids of the 360 version, there are some frame rate issues that may be absent in the 360 version as that is the lead system after all.. but starbreeze knows what they're doin on the ps3, unlike some devs *cough* ubisoft! *cough*

@ Hikiki..: I have no such problems, i have a 27 inch standard def TV

You mention extra stuff but by your list its exaclty what the 360 version got. Im i missing something? Extra Movies, Weopens or something?

4.2 - Blu-Ray Content

They put a few of the comics on the disc that look to be HD resolution. Also full length versions of all the TV shows/movies playing on monitors in the game.

We watched about an hour of a movie in Jenny's apartment and made a few phone calls that were hilarious :-)

I also purhased this game on my ps3 instead of my 360 simply due to the extra content and i wanted to check out the accomplishments. Have not tried the multi player yet, but i will once i get better at it.

You beat it already? Damn. I just have to ask because IGN claimed it only takes 8-10 hours to beat the single player campaign. How long before you beat it, if you don't mind me asking? I was looking at this game in my local Gamestop earlier but I wanted to hear from people who actually beat it if its really only 8 hours long because if it is, I'll just probably rent it. I'm choosing between Darkness and RV6 that's why.

7.1 - Why can't we expect PS3 games to be better? Not ports obviously, but side by side releases.

Sega, Free Radical, Criterion, Konami, Square Enix, Starbreeze and Pandemic have all jumped on board (PS3 version of multiplats=superior), most everyone knows PS3 is superior tech but the issue is utilising it. And its nothing like Xbox/PS2 where PS2 had an insurmountable lead in all 3 regions. 360 is dead in Japan, flailing in Europe and average but slipping to flailing in America month over month.

PS3 can only go up from here, having stabilised at 80k after selling under 100k in America for only 2 months, not 3 as of yet as Mart will have you falsely believe. (NPD>Vgcharts)

Sony dudes, this is what IGN said:

"The PlayStation 3 version is virtually identical to the 360, other than the occasional aliasing issues and sporadic slowdown."

Sounds to me that the 360 version is better, on doing better aliasing and framerate. Haven't we heard that before, framerate issues on the PS3? Go watch some multiplatform games, also you Astaroth. Even not with HDMI you get more blurry games sharper on HDMI, that's a sort of wish, but games like R6, COD3, this game, won't look any sharper on HDMI on PS3, then component on 360. Just because the 360 versions are having sharper textures, less blur, more draw distance etc etc

Plus, you have seen the retail version of VF5 on the 360 already? You know sh!t. Previews have said the game looks better on all points. Think you'll have to wait untill fall when the bomb drops. Even PS3 ports to 360 look better on the 360. That would be hilarious

9 - cool movies

there's some really cool movies on the PS3 version.

like full versions of Flash Gordon, The Street Fighter, and To Kill A Mockingbird. not to mention various cartoons and music videos. only the PS3 version can fit the full length movies on the disc due to Blu Ray. it may not enhance the gameplay for some people, but it certainly makes the world feel more immersive and real. it was cool sitting on the couch, cuddling with Jackie's girl, Jenny, and watching To Kill A Mockingbird for a bit before getting up and heading back outside for some killin'.

and apparently the game actually supports Playstation Home, so when it releases this September (or is it October), you may already have some cool trophies to show off.

i'm definitely digging the game, and i recommend it to PS3 owners out there that were looking for a great game to play and show off their system besides Resistance, Motorstorm, and VF5.

As the PS fans call it therefore obviously the 360 version would be better, no? I mean come on The Darkness is a shooter so yeah the 'shooter box' should obviously be the better version.

But wait the PS3 also is getting shooters but poorer versions so what should we call the PS3? I know Peeshooter Station!

In Europe The 360 is a DISASTER;and TheMart stop lying about this weekly number.The only country where the 360 is selling well is the US,that's it.
In JAPAN the ps3 is killing the 360 4:1.

What are you going on about the 360 in Europe is a disaster. If it is, then the PS3 is a planet killer. The PS3 is doing really poorly in Europe at the moment, that's because of the price and the complete lack of games.

I thought I was the only fool to purchase a PS3. At this moment in time, it is not worth the £425 I paid for it. Its an expensive dust collector. Maybe it will be worth getting one this Christmas or in 08, but not now.

The 360 in Europe a disaster, you did make me chuckle.

Now all major sites and magazines have given Darkness a good score above 8 except IGN(7.8) and Yahoo(6). Personally, I think it deserves 8.4 or something. Great game but some bugs and control problems hurt. But Darkness mechanism and its voice ROCK!

14 - I feel like I wasted my money

Beautiful game but it feels slow and the maps are so awful. Not to mention the targeting is hit or miss. 8.0 man that review is off I would say 7 just because it looks pretty.
