Colin Mcrae: DiRT Sales Top 500,000 in First Week

With week one sales out the door, Codemasters is proud to announce that DiRT, the company's critically acclaimed new racing title, has exceeded expectations across the board. If DiRT's early review score of 9/10 from Official Xbox Magazine (U.S.) wasn't any indication, Codemasters is now reporting that week one sales of the game have surpassed 500K copies globally, and the playable demos for the Xbox 360 video game entertainment system from Microsoft and the PC have been downloaded over 500K times worldwide.

Software always sells extremely well on the '360, for some reason. Huh. Not often that you see a game sell as many copies as demos downloaded, though. That's impressive.

Dirt has most definitely NOT done better than Forza 2. If you compare North American sales stats at VGchartz.org you'll see that Forza 2 sold 2 to 3 times as many copies and is still at number one on the UK charts after 3 weeks.

NORTH AMERICA:

Forza 2 sales to date: 380,195
Dirt sales to date: 69,715

Dirt has been out one week, Forza 2 has been out 3 weeks. Assuming worse case scenario where sales were the same all three weeks, Forza 2 sales in week one would have been at least 126,731. Nearly DOUBLE the sales of Dirt in week one.

Forza's a hell of a game its well made. Dirts a heart pumping thrill and is the best non sim i'v ever played its different but its fucin great. Dirt is off the hook with its blistering speeds inches from tree's in enviroments so real if you get a wiff of outside from your window being open and smell car you'll think its real. No kidding a smelled car while playing Dirt and my brain for a minute acted as if i was driving for real(real sense of danger). Every car does hanlde different in dirt and some like the buggy have physics hair pulling hard, MotorStorm who?. Like i said weeks ago The offroad part of the game shines its also a fairly large game for DVD9 lol.
