Call of Juarez - the best textures on Xbox 360 so far?

A member of the Neogaf forums has posted up some of the textures evident in Call of Juarez for Xbox 360, they look very realistic, so much so that they are being hailed as the most realistic textures on the 360 to date - what do you think?

Depends on what the sky is doing if the Sun is glaring of them or if the Sun is being blocked by cloud cover(its that advanced)lol.

lol yeah... boulders arent as shiny as the 360 would like you to believe (well most at least) granite and limestone just dont shine like glass. But it still looks cool, which is what counts.

Man i was thinking the same thing while looking at rock on hill sides up close on a HDTV looks real the layering texturing and shodowing Plus lighting are top-notch.

(((#3.1))) these screens are like watching a movie on a old TV with rabbit ears vs the same movie remastered and viewing it in HD in comparison. The game isn't all dull, dark and blue. I can't find any pics that come close to the real thing but i promise you its up there with Mass-Effect charector detail with texturing better than GoW in areas.

very impressive. I picked it up a couple of days ago. I wasn't epecting much bc it is a PC port. I was wrong though, I would put this up with Gears for best graphics on 360.

9 - I love the Game....

And the textures really do look spectacular on my 1080p 61 inch TV. I read in the xbox magazine that there are more and more PC games that will just go over to the 360. They are just now learning some of the architecture and extreme advantages of developing with the 3 PPU processor and the advanced GPU features. In the article they go on to say that many developers don't like making PC games that have to run on low end to mid range PC's. They would much rather just develope it the way it was intended to be seen and played...and right now the 360 is doing that. Of course resolutions are higher on PC's by default...but at 1920 by 1080....the 360 is starting to show a glimpse of what its capable of. I'm very very curious on how Unreal will look on the Ps3. It should be very very interesting when the comparissons come out.

P.S. dantesparda ...Obviously it was you who disagreed with me. I must be smoking? WTF....I was quoting an article in the latest xbox magazine...I was quoting developers who are tired of making PC games for all types of computers...PC programmers understand that the people with High end computers are in the extreme minority...and low to mid computers don't compete as of now with the 360. The article also goes on to say that developers are just now seeing what the 360 can do...and they are impressed.

my roommate has currently been playing this game, and aside from it being very fun, and i think the textures are good, but what point is having good textures when the environments look like they were made in 3D Studio Max?

my point is, the environments look like *GAME LEVELS, not actual locations.

if it was more natural feeling, then sure, the environments would be great. as it stands, it feels like you're roaming around a movie *SET.

fun game though. the old priest guy is badass. the young guy...eh, not so much, though i do like how you see the story from both perspectives.

i definitely recommend it as, at the least, a rental, but best textures? i just don't see it (and this is *ON my roommate's 46" 1080p LCD Samsung).

j/k The water looks really pretty, and tree bark is the most realistic tree bark I've seen to date. I think they need to feed the horse though, 'cause it looks damn skinny.

To Figboy: I've noticed that too. A lot of games are using the same technologies and middle-ware, and thus end up looking nearly identical. I've only seen a few Unreal Engine 3 games that look truly unique, such as Monster Madness or Coded Arms.

there are very few Unreal Engine games that are looking different.

Brother's in Arms: Hell's Highway is a title that looks to be differentiating itself from other Unreal games, though. at least it was the last time i saw anything on it.

hell, who knows. by this point the guys could be wearing gigantic robotic suits that make them look like Rob Leifeld drawings.

20 - DJ still must hate himself for choosing the PS3 when everyone was telling him to get a 360 (jealousy)

On topic I have seen this game (cough tester cough) and it's graphics are pretty slick but the AI are freaking brain dead. It's nice to see UE3 being used in outdoor enviorments though. UE3 isn't realy known for it's lush greens but the devs are getting better at it. Everytime you come to a river or lake in a UE3 game it just makes you want to take a swim. Yeah folage renders arn't what thise engine is good at but it's 9 to 1 in areas where it shines more but as you can see with this and some upcomming games you can see them get better.

But I base more of the graphics from a game that's in motion vs a still picture. An N64 game can look good from a still photo, real time game play is the true telling.

I picked this game up about a week ago. It's a great buy. A lot of fun.

Graphics are killer texture-wise. But the characters and horses, and other animals just aren't really that impressive to me.

Concentration mode is f**king cool! I love rabbit hunting.
