Unreal Tournament 3 - PS3 exclusive… timed

Epic's ability to create games of AAA quality is unrivaled, making them a perfect partner for Streamline Studios digital content service. Unreal Tournament 3 will be the fifth next-generation that epic has worked in this generation.

Today a rumor has started that the much anticipated game which was previously announced on the Xbox360 and PC and later on the ps3 will be a timed exclusive on the ps3. More Details shall be unraveled at E3 this year.

Geoff Keighley basically confirmed this last week. According to him it is because Sony is allowing user created mods, and Microsoft thinks it could be used to undermine their Xbox Live service. He says PC and PS3 versions release at the same time, and the 360 is coming sometime later after they sort out some issues.

I have a kick arse PC, so I will be getting this for the PC myself, but if I HAD to pick - which console to buy for?

It would be the PS3. Even though the PS3 version is going to have watered down graphics, the ability to play with a keyboard and mouse on a console would be too cool to pass up.

3.2 - I got addicted

to the whole gamer score thing in the begining, but I noticed I was buying bull$#!+ games just to boost my score. That's when I started my 12 step program to get off the gamer score. I can now afford games I actually want to play for the game, not the score. If you played Turtles, Kingkong or Madden for the 360 for an easy 1000 points, you need the 12 step program.

rent there games, they don't buy them. I am not an achievement whore but if a game came out on all systems I would pick the Xbox 360 for the achievements (just to get more out of the game), the graphics, and quicker load times.

Halo 3 is being released in September, the same time UT3 was supposed to be released for the 360. This MS's way of controlling just how much attention needs to be focused on Halo 3, I guarantee this is the reason.

The user created mods part sounds very cool. As for it being made on PS3, I dunno because it is DirectX 10 optimized isn't it? So it's probably PC main platform, or maybe simultaneous development/optimized for consoles and PC separately.

The stranglehold Halo has on the Xbox. Gears found it's footing because 1) it is a very good game and 2) Halo was a while away. If any shooter hopes to get a footing on the 360, it better time it's release between Gears and halo.

Sure, most will prefer the 360s controller over the PS3s, but you forgot about keyboard/mouse. Any true PC FPS gamer will tell you that keyboard/mouse is almost always preferred for FPS over any controller.

I think it would be a stupid move on MS's part to delay a game(s) because of Halo 3. I would much rather have UT3 than Halo 3 anyday and I do not plan on purchasing UT3 for PS3. This game is not be developed on the PS3 since so many game assets are already existing from the Gears of War development.

Epic are really good about debunking BS rather quickly so I hope they come out and debunk yet another rumor about their games..

People don't like buying old games for full price. It will sell when it hits the 360, but not like it would have if it had come out at the same time as the PS3 release. No big deal. Epic is rich. And I am not in a hurry to give them my money. So it works out in the end.

The PS3 needs this like New Orleans needs re-building. I know it'll make it to the 360 as well, but it seems as if it's being built for the PS3 rather than the recently opposite of what's been hand me downs from the X360 to the PS3.

This is a good sign for SNE's system and the belief that dev's have in it if this is truly accurate. Insomniac, Team Ninja, Epic, Kojima - not bad company to have "in your corner" when you're system is off to a rocky beginning.

If this is true then I doubt it would be mircosoft dictating when the game should be released. If anything they (Epic) are seeing it as a chance to not be shadowed by the behemoth that is Halo. Wait until the craze for Halo has passed and then release.
Still though, this is surprising if it's true.

Well it's kind of silly to hold off on releasing a game because of Halo 3. Not an Unreal fan. I think it's good shifting the date away from Halo 3, as more people may be interested in it once their tired of Halo 3. It's a shame it's because Microsoft and are being so tight on the online mods. More fun please Microsoft.
