Crackdown dev tops Industry Excellence Awards

Crackdown developer Realtime Worlds has picked up a whopping seven nominations, the most ever for one studio in the event's five-year history.

Due to be held on July 25, the Develop Industry Excellence Awards aims to honour those at the forefront of the development community.

Crackdown has been nominated in the New Console/PC IP category, with the studio itself picking up a further six nominations in the Visual Arts, Audio Accomplishment, Best Use of Online, Innovation, New UK/European Studio and Independent Developer categories.

You've got to be kidding me. While the game was fun in many regards, it was nothing more than an abbreviated easter egg hunt (orbs). You beat the game in about 3 hours, none of the bosses were difficult or presented any different challenges, and quite simply, the game is too short.

Crackdown is a good idea, just very incomplete.

4.2 - it was actually the orb collecting that i classed as the game.

the other stuff was for concept/story.

it was the prince of persia esk how do i get there to that orb stuff i like.

plus the sand box fun.

piling up 100 cars and some busses, trucks, people and blowing it all up was hella fun.
crackdown has the best explosions in a game so far.

So you beat the game in 3 hours ? Ok let me ask you this, do you consider as "finishing a game"...

1. Opening the package.

2. Reading the manual

3. Painting a smiley on the DVD

4. Reading a spoiler about the ending on some gaming forum

5. Trying to put the Dvd into a VCR, giving up, ask ebgames a refund

If you said yes to any of those, well im sorry to inform you that you haven't beated the game.

I guess you guys didn't mind paying $60 for the Halo 3 Beta. Never once did I say the game was bad, but it did nothing spectacular. It was short, the graphics were ok, and the length/difficulty of the game is a joke.

4.7 - Length of Game is irrelevant.

My favorite game in a decade. I've spent at least 20 hours on Crackdown so far, just beating it on Psychotic solo. If you can do it faster: here's a cookie.

There are plenty of difficulty levels for a reason, and the free DLC + Co-Op make this game much more than what's described in your post. Add the pay for DLC, and the game is one hell of a juggernaut.

APB isn't Crackdown 2, its an MMO for PC and 360. http:\\apb.com -think Cops and Robbers.

Crackdown 2, will be something to behold though, hopefully an MMO as well. RTW has Massively multiplayer gaming as their main mission statement.

I wasn't offended, more like annoyed, so no big deal.

Why you don't like humor ?
OK heres a few reason why I disagree about the game lasting less then 3 hours.
- It way longer if you push up the difficulty.
- It take forever to fin d every orbs
- Some of the achievements are time consuming
- Multiplayer add a lot replay value
- This is the kind of game that you'll want to play again in a few months and start from the beginning all over again.

Have to say awesome use of physics and firepower lol.

However wasnt too keen on paying 800 points to 'enhance' that experience...

Anyways I traded the game in today - I think many will start doing the same since the Halo 3 beta is ending on Sunday.

Can you say M Rated Mario on Acid? That's what I got with Crackdown,
*minus* cool bosses.

But the weapons/vehicles, and cooler weapons/vehicles in the DLC, and the Jumping, the Physics, and Awesome Co-Op are what make Crackdown a really great and unique experience.

If you've ever enjoyed a post N64 Mario game, Hulk:UD or GTA, Crackdown is the epitome of the cross-genre.

What I'm saying is give it a try. You won't regret it.

15 - Fun Level: Astronomical!

Crackdown before its recent downloads for additional content was tremendous fun. After downloading the additional content, new vehicles, weapons and game types, is simply one of the most enjoyable games ever made.

Crackdown deserves all the accolades it gets. It's a fantastic game; don't miss out on the manic fun!
