True dat! I loved Alone in the Dark and this looks to be shaping up in the same manner. Wish it was still open world but with the limitations to the hardware I'm glad they stuck with what would work.

That looks pretty awesome. The graphics are great for a 360 game, but I think it's the feeling you get from the game. It's dark, mysterious, is just seems to suck you into the world. With a long enough campaign, this could be epic.

EDIT: So after watching the video twice, it's really stunning. What's also surprising is that it's probably not the final build. They still have time to polish what looks like an already polished game. When the police start chasing the guy it feels like you're watching a movie. The music mixes very well, the textures and lighting are great. I think this game will show what the 360 is really capable of.

damn that atmosphere sends chills down my spine.
Graphics look truly immersive... great fog, great lighting... awesome!

I did notice a few torn frames here and there, though
Still, no worse than the obligatory torn frames on ps3 multiplats, right?

Just makes me glad MS put such a great GPU in the 360.
I am so looking forward to this game!

Oh please, that looks like something that should have come out in year2 of the 360 on going on yr5. That's looks exactly like what Alone in the Dark2 would be nothing more. Seemingly good looking game but nothing I'm pounding doors down to experience at all.

It would be really disappointing if this is they're giving us on the PC.

Apart from the average textures, the lighting and shadows are just bad. In a slow moving game like this it should be pretty easy to get real-time dynamic lighting and shadows. Most of the so-called "lights" have no effect on anything. Either they aren't actual light sources or environmental lighting and shadows are mostly baked and static.

The character animation is last gen. No doubt about it.

Very stiff. Same movements over and over again. Nothing dynamic. No expression.

How many years have they had to work on this???

Very nice to look at. I like how the included the trees blowing to enhance the mood of the game like uncharted. I hope they are able to work out the kinks with the frame stutter and screen tear. Definitely looking like an interesting game to play.

@addendum: Just saw part two. Amazing sequence, voice acting though is a bit stilted. They all sound like they recorded separately and possibly before they even saw the game sequence. And whoever wrote the script... yeeeaaah... that guy needs alot of work on his dialogue writing. If its trying to be funny, it comes at too tense of a moment...If its supposed to be belligerent, it's too whimsical to sound like a dialogue between a officer chief and a federal agent...

Sheriff Braker, this is Agent Nightingale, I lost all contact with the men you assigned to me. It's Wakes doing! Over.

Opin: (Wait what? Where do you make such an assumption? You can't talk to your men, so they're dead already? Your instant conclusion then is to point the finger right on Alan? How does this reflect on your professionalism and competence, considering you were the one managing Braker's men?)

Wait are you seriously telling me that [this?] writer just took out all my men. Are you kidding me? I mean have you seen this guy? He wears a tweed jacket. Over.
Opin: (Again... how does she instantly jump to the conclusion that her men are dead or disabled? Couldn't radios be broken or signals jammed?)

Nightingale
He's the guy we're chasing, if not who then? Big foot?! Over.

Opin: What about murder accomplices? Considering how he's conveniently forgotten casting a wide net to comb for Alan Wake...the dialogue is stupid. To me this type of stereotyped "fool agent retort" belongs in an B grade action film, and not in a tense thriller. It kind of throws the mood off and downplays the intelligence of a smart title.

Braker
I don't know yet, but I'm not in the habit of jumping to conclusions.

Finally: Alan's monologue: This horror was everywhere I went. Circling me. I could feel its presence in my head, like the shadow of a brain tumour. A change in pressure had made my ears pop. The cops didn't stand a chance. They were after a writer, not a monster.

(what? The presence in your mind isn't a brain tumour but a shadow of a brain tumour... right. what do brain tumours have anything to do with high altitude and ears popping in the next sentence? (And no, brain tumours don't cause ear popping, thats all in the ear). Next sentence jumps to a completely different subject: The cops don't stand a chance to ear popping? or presence of monster brain tumours? The monologue subject matter does not tie in cohesively)

The game looks gorgeous, the animations are a little "iffy" from this video but plenty of time to polish.

The atmosphere, I agree with Saak is very nice, I was tense while watching it, very outdoorsy Dead Space. I hope the sound team capitalize on that to the maximum.

Watched the video in hopes it would get me to want it, but alas it's not my cup of tea. Alone in the Dark and Silent Hill are in the same genre as Alan it seems. I do in fact hope it turns out amazing for the 360 owners and even those without 360s who want to play.

You're right. The animation is a bit stilted and stiff. It's not at all dynamic. When he turn or avoids an object is some of the worst animations I've seen. Which is funny since they're working with a mocap studio on the animations.

this looked sorta ok but dead boring... we're so spoiled on PS3
