Gearbox had 8 hour Borderlands demo planned

Gearbox have said that a demo was planned for their critically acclaimed shooter Borderlands. The thing is, it was an eight hour long demo.

Wow. Not trying to be stingy but that's just too much game for a demo!
It would get you addicted though. You'll want to upgrade your gear, level up etc.

lol yeah it would be wrong to bring out a demo that is longer than most single player games!

Though if they just wanted to bring you to Nine-toes they could have blocked off the rest of the area for just those short few missions before him and it'd be an hour demo... well unless you just sat around waiting for mobs to spawn back.

Total BS.. If they released a demo they would have shot themselves in the foot, because it would have clearly shown that the game was broke before it was released....they really think gamers are stupid

They should have just stuck to testing their game before releasing a totally broken game...The games central point is online CoOP which DID NOT work when the game came out and there are still BIG problems with friends...
want to yuk..go over to their forums and watch them ban and ignore the problems posted...
they are clearly to busy working on DLC, instead of fixing the problems.
GearBox and Slant 6 are the 2 on my list NOT to buy games from

some of what divideby is saying is true though. i have the PS3 copy. i knew there were going to be problems with that version when i bought it but i didn't care. GB will fix all of the issues eventually so i'm not worried. until then, i'm just playing through with every character once so when the co-op is completely fixed, i can help my brother with his first playthrough :)

edit: the part that i agree with is that GB should have tested the game more. they def shipped this game broken. the only other game i've ever seen this broken is, funnily enough, the other example divideby listed... Socom Confrontation (Slant6)

there is no way they could have released a demo based upon the broken product we purchased...thats what I call BS from GB...imagine releasing a demo in the shape that our game presently is ?
even a SP demo, there are horrific frame rate drops..and the main go of this game is online CoOp which is messed up and as you say, still does not work

Well depending on the size of the demo it could have cost them a bomb to put on the PSN. Remember Sony charges publishers for online content by the Gig.

So probably both XBL and PSN prevented it for happening.

And by the way, borderlands is only 3.2 GB of data. Thats the ENTIRE GAME as only 3.2 gb. I know because I installed it to my HD and it only takes 3.2 gb to install the entire game.
