MW2 allows 8yr olds to become terrorists says Fox News

The media's at it again, blaming video games for society's woes. This time the target is Modern Warfare 2, particularly the scene which allows the player to be a terrorist in order to convince the enemy that he is indeed trust worthy. Fox News doesn't see it that way, in fact on their morning show Fox and Friends, co-host Steve Doocy interviewed two guys, one defending the game, the other trying to prove why it's too violent.

you know , I hate that they like to blame Violent behaviors of some troubled childrens on Video games when Most of the violent stuff can be found On TV. As a Child I never had any Rules when it came to the things I watched on TV or played on PSone/N64. I grew up with older Brothers and cousins and they were always into that type of stuff to.

I started watching TV-MA South park at the age of 7 when it first came out in 1997.

Watched TV-14 Wrestling as Long as I can remember

Watched all Sorts of Gory Horror movies in early 90s.

and I never had any weird behaviors because of that. I grew up pretty good. lol

I plan to do the same with my children in the future. As long as they know it's fiction it'll be cool with me.

Blame parents, not the game. I watched Saw VI and I sat next a little kid with his parents, I don't remember a headline that said "New movie promotes torture to eight year olds"

You know, if you buy your 8-year-old a meat cleaver, you will make your child a kid with a very big knife. That's no good - let's outlaw meat cleavers immediately! Butchers will use giant butter knives from now on.

Seriously, Fox finds new ways to break the silly barrier every day. These are probably the guys that still want to ban The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from every library in the US. Move to Australia, guys! They ban everything down under!

I saw the video
"time to have a fair and balanced discussion."
-lets throw the games trailer out of context and call it a terrorist game
-give the view against the game more air time and give him straw-man questions
- Say the facts in favor of the game are wrong, and not let that position defend itself
-Close the segment saying the view in favor of the game is wrong anyway

- Then conclude saying all video games are evil and are making 8 year-olds terrorists...

For plays video games like politics.

I didn't really enjoy the terrorism level at all. I'm not precious about these sorts of things, nor do I link vg's to violence, but i found the mission a bit obsecene. This is regardless of being over or under age. I dont think the storys objective (oh we need to infiltrate this group) really justified it.

EXACTLY. The proper response should have been "Why are these parents letting their 8 year olds play our game that is clearly labelled for adults? Do they let their kids watch soft porn on cable as well? Do they let their kids drink and smoke?". The issue is the false assumption that video games are for kids. Just another example of how out of touch old conservatives are with mainstream culture.

I love the game but I'm sorry they did this to themselves. They didn't have to let you play a role in that segment. It could have been a video cut scene.

Also to the moron that wrote the topic needs to keep his biased to himself when trying to make a statement. Changing Fox to Fixed doesn't make you sound intelligent. I've watched Fox news for years and they show nothing but the truth reguardless of which side you agree with. Just because you don't like when someone talks about the truth doesn't mean it's wrong. I'd like you to show me 1 time fox reported something wrong and didn't correct it if they happened to be wrong. Just 1 that's all I ask for.

Well, I've watched Fox News longer than you have and I can say that what they do is "massage" the truth to sound like whatever they want. Fox News spends more time skewing the news rather than just giving an objective version of what happened.

I started watching Glenn Beck about a month ago and I gotta say, he tells the truth, and he backs it up with video and audio of the very things he is talking about. Why everyone hates on Fox I don't know, they just dig up dirt on our politicians, which is what the other news networks SHOULD also be doing, and would be if they were not in the pocket of a certain political party.

@below
Yeah in the only mention I ever heard Beck make regarding those numbers, he was indeed quoting someone else's count of the turnout, he never made any claims of his own. So if this is all you folks got to prove Beck is a liar, thats pretty weak. He has shown countless videos of our president lying through his teeth about a lot of more important things so maybe you guys should be more concerned with the presidents lies.

True. When you have one guy, Beck, saying "2 million +" people and you have local fire and safety officials saying "60,000" people and other sources putting it around 500,000 it's kinda hard to take his number seriously.

And the London Daily Mail is a tabloid who wrote that "Sarah Palin is as popular as Diana in the hearts of the American public"

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/...

Besides, if Fox was the only network people watched when Mark Foley, Larry Craig, Mark Sanford or any other embattled GOPer is in trouble, you'd swear they were Democrats--as Fox "mistakenly" marked them as such.

Oh heck.. here's a collage of graphical "mistakes"

My favorite of the pic is O'Reily's assertion that if you don't support the Iraq war you can "shut up."

Do you play Call of Duty AT ALL? Since when does the game put in cutscenes for the main story? YOUR PLAYING THE STORY! Your character was a spy, the game lead up to that point, it was letting you play the story like everything else. You didnt have to kill anyone, you didnt have to watch the scene, so whats the problem? Why is it ok to "kill" all the other people i nthe game, but because someone wanted to make a big deal about this specific level it becomes a problem? Its lines of code, nothing more, nothing less.

I grew up playing all kinds of games because my mom took the time to teach me "this is right and thats wrong" and "you dont do this outside of video games" why is it no one elses parents can do this? Or is it because the government wants to control every aspect of our lives now?

And when is fox wrong? Do you honestly believe every little lie they shove in your face? Same with CNN. They do it on purpose, it gets people to watch, and it makes people angry = more people. Remember Mas Effect when they said "oh its the worse thing i have ever seen" then when Geoff Kighley plainly asked "did you even play the game" and the girl got mad and said "haha NO! why would i do that?" that right there should set off a little alarm in our head saying "THESE GUYS ARE FULL OF BS!"

You can't be serious...

The London Daily Mail is a TABLOID: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
The man whom Glenn Beck quoted as estimating his march at one million people was a MARCHER! I believe he was even interviewed on Beck's program weeks ago!

If people disagree with these facts, then I must conclude that N4G is populated solely by republican and libertarian bottom feeders...

John Galt? Wow, an Ayn Rand fan in opposition to Fox? Would you kindly explain that one?

Maybe not opposition - I guess the comment was just describing what they do and pointing it out in an objective way, right? They're the rich movers and shakers, and they could do just as well without us have-nots, after all.

@Armyless/Darkstorn - Whoa, talk about a fight over nothing. @Everyone in this argument - Let's get back on topic before this train goes barreling over the Himalayas and we're left hanging.

This is MW2. That wasn't Glenn Beck in the interview, this wasn't the Mail, and there wasn't a march. It's "Fox and Friends," which is even scarier because Fox isn't putting someone else's name in the accountability section- this is clearly a Fox News-branded program.

I predict The Fail will have something to say about Modern Warfare 2. "This just in - Modern Warfare 2 Indecent, Has '2' in the Title, May Also Have Guns."

"I've watched Fox news for years and they show nothing but the truth reguardless of which side you agree with."

Says the guy with the redneck anti-Obama avatar. LOL!

Fox has been nailed countless times for fabrication and spin. There are unbiased media monitors out there that watch over all outlets and Fox is consistently amongst the worst perpetrators.

Hell, just last week Sean Hannity got burned for using old protest footage to prove how big some anti-health bill protests were. The protests in question were very recent (i.e. in the fall), yet half the footage showed trees in late-summer. Then Fox claimed that there were 20-40000 protestors, yet according to park officials/police there were 10000.

Olbermann is a hack but Fox News is sewer-residue in the honesty department, and this has been proven time and time again. Putting your fingers in your ears and ignoring it doesn't change it.

Video with made up facts is not "backing it up". I can show you a picture of 50 people in a small area, but that would not prove my claim that, say, 100000 people are there.

Their response would be something to the effect of "That rating system doesn't work," but no rating system really works, so their response would be idiotic. I liked the comment above about sitting next to a 9-yr old with his family at the theater during Saw VI. Good imagery toward how rating systems really work.

Actually, the pure Fox agenda here would be to remove the rating system and have a government agency purge indecency from all media, leaving bookshelves to house one translation of the Bible, Netflix to stream nothing but old episodes of Captain Kangaroo, and Gamestop to sell nothing but Singstar Faith+1. Not very small-government of the Reps, but that's how it goes, I guess.

For God's sake IS EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD MADE MY CHILDREN IN MIND? Is porn videos made by children in mind? No. Does most of the movies made by children in mind? No. Then why in the holy mother of a.. they make such comments like this when it comes to videogames. Box clearly says "this game is for mature audience" (or 16+ I don't know). If a parent of an 8 year old buys "Mature" tagged games to his son/daughter then it's their problem not ours. It's just like saying; "Zack And Miri Make A Porno" is going to make children to become pornstar producers in the future...
