Top Five XBLA Games (resumeplay)

resumeplay writes: "For a lot of you out there, the Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) offerings are either too expensive or not appealing enough to warrant inclusion in your game collection. Personally, I look at the XBLA games as a great supplement to any gamer's repertoire, as well as an opportunity to boost one's gamerscore by up to 200 points per game."

Well, I'd say some of the best are Trials HD, Geo Wars and Geo Wars 2.

Sure on the most difficult levels but when it comes to the game all around it's quite fun.

I loved the demo of Trials so I bought the game. The harder level become too tedious. Bunny hop, crash then repeat. Worth $10 but just for the speedy levels and bonus games.

I know that everyone has their own opinions, but any "Top XBLA Games" list that doesn't include Shadow Complex = fail X 1,000.

They need to let XBLA Games have more achievement points.

agree, they give 1000 points to all the pixar games but high quality titles like battlefield and shadow complex only get 200 points. i would be happy with even 500

Good point, mau. As a true gamerscore whore, I've played a few games that I'm less than proud of (Avatar: The Last Airbender?). None of those games are arcade titles, and they were worth a lot more points.

It'd be nice to see some arcade games (that are significantly more developed than some terrible retails) get the respect they deserve in the achievement department.

I am surprised as hell that Braid has stayed at 1200 this long. Or at least that it hasn't been their Deal of the Week for 800, or even half off. I guess it speaks for the acclaim, and perhaps the developer, for trying to suck as much out of it as possible for as long as they can.

I'm pretty sure the game was the brainchild of a lone guy, Jonathan Blow, so it doesn't seem surprising that an independent in the games industry wants to reap as much as he can get for his time and effort.

I'm surprised that Shadow Complex isn't on the list, but they're all good games. Braid was certainly captivating, and i think is a good choice for number one.

As the writer, I assumed that Shadow Complex would be the most popular "not included" game in this list. Sadly, while I wish (and assume again) that it could be included, the reason it is not... is simple. I haven't had the extra money to be able to play what I can only believe is a great game. I wish I did. :(

These xbla focus games need to stop pointing out the obvious games.

There's plenty on there beyond those 5, nevermind the indie games. Uno Rush, small arms, splosion man, puzzlequest and n+ all well worth their money.

XBLA is a platform unto itself, nevermind the retail side. There's plenty of great MP games, Solo games and even big budget games like shadow complex or battlefield.
