I want nothing from Half-Life 3 since I haven't played a Half-Life game ever. The same can be said for the majority of non-PC gamers out there. Maybe, if they got it to work properly on PS3 id care.

That makes sense, I guess. No matter how revolutionary HL2 was, it'll never compare how revolutionary HL1 was. Still, HL2 had a better story and better characters (to me at least) and it had the gravity gun.

unfortunately we will have to wait until after episode 3 to see it. the original HL is my favorite game and most likely the best FPS there has ever been.

I cant wait to see waht HL 3 will be like on the new engine, maybe steam engine.

Is good shooting. Half life games are some of my favourite action games, but as shooters they fail because the gunplay isn't fun. If Half life 3 has good shooting in it then the game will be perfect, because valve have nailed all other aspects of the game.

By good shooting I mean:

* A good aimer (one that is indicative of accuracy based on movement speed, stance etc. the aimer on Half life 2 is one of the worst I've seen in an FPS game)

* Ability to use weapon sight

* Good "feel" to the weapons (make them have screen-skaing recoil, and a certain weighty feel to them)

* Possible cover system (Killzone 2 nailed this)

* Realistic weapon damage (A lot of games do this poorly, but games like the Call of Duty series understand that it doesn't take half a clip of headshots to kill someone)

* This is just my preference, but being able to only carry one or two weapons at a time makes shooters a bit more fun because you have to change your strategy depending on what weapon you have, rather than being able to just choose the best gun for the job out of your arsenal.

So if Valve can make the game have good shooting, more like how the guns are in Killzone 2 or even in one of their own games, Left 4 Dead, then Half life 3 will be perfect.

I'd gladly take the non-existence of the entire Call of Duty series in exchange for a new Half Life game, but Uncharted 2, God of War, and Gran Turismo will definitely get more playtime out of me than any current half life title. I better see some replay incentive next time around or at least some actual care shown to the PS3 version. I suffered through PS3's version of orange box because of my love for the first game, but if the new one ends up another sh*tty port that gets completely ignored by valve after its release, then I'll pass.

Valve DID make the orange box, and then EA ported it. The fact is they shrugged it off and left me with the poorest, least supported version of the title for the same price as anyone else paid, because they didn't want to deal with developing on an unfamiliar platform. I can respect a brilliant creation, but a brilliant creation handed over to a third party in the face of production challenges is far less desirable when I have access to titles that have been optimized for the format I use most. I feel they should have either put in the work or not released it at all.

Yeah they did just shrug it off but they don't develop for the PS3 so they can't patch the PS3 version. All the while EA watches Valve take the heat for a game EA should patch. Why doesn't anyone get mad at EA for not fixing it? They're the ones responsible.

That statement should be directed at EA, valve got them to do it as they were supposedly knowledgeable about the ps3's hardware, and they messed it up, once EA had publishing rights to port the ps3 version, it was completely out of their hands, it's not like valve could just un-sign the contract

My statements are not directed at EA because it's Valve's game! For example: I build bicycle frames. If I personally build my frames for customers in Europe and the United States, but am unable to create frames for the Japanese market (this is hypothetical, keep in mind) and another company wants to pay me to copy my frames but make them on their own equipment in their own factory for Japan, I would decline the offer in order to avoid a situation such as this, where my acclaimed product gets translated incorrectly and met with disapproval from customers I could have otherwise met the needs of at another time. Obviously not everyone will share my views, but I believe in producing quality product, even if you can't make it for everyone.

I hate to tell you this, man, but Half-Life 2 wasn't made for the console, period. Valve ported it to the Xbox because it's easy to do that with a PC game. Same goes for L4D. They didn't want to take the time to revamp it for the PS3, so they let EA take care of that. Valve is one of the true last remaining PC developers, and while I love my PS3, it isn't what Valve wants to develop for. You should really do yourself a favor and pick up a decent PC and actually spend a little time playing one of the greatest FPS this decade.

Half-Life 1 wasn't on the PS2. That was Half-Life: Decay (an expansion pack like Blue Shift and Opposing Force).

Valve really hasn't done much with consoles.

The only console game Valve actually developed in-house was Orange Box for the 360.

Half-Life 2 for the Xbox was made by EA, Half-Life: Decay was made by Gearbox, Orange Box for PS3 was made by EA, and Left 4 Dead for the 360 was made by Certain Affinity.

Half Life 1 WAS on PS2, and it INCLUDED decay. It also featured updated character models, textures, etc. That's how I was first able to experience the whole game from start to finish. See image - bottom right screen cap on the back says "also includes new co-op game half-life decay"

pandamobile, half life 1 was ported to the ps2. it included some gameplay enhancements and and extended gameplay segments. don't remember too much on what was included in the decay expansion, but i know for a fact HL1 was on the ps2.

don't worry i agree with you. i've played HL1 on PC and ps2 so i know it was on it. the ps2 version was pretty good, but it had that cheap lock on aiming.

I think you might want to actually take some time and play the game for a change instead of doing whatever it was you did while someone else played the game for you. Obviously you haven't played the game, because your argument is pretty retarded. That's not to say that Gordon isn't given a lot of responsibilities, but it is actually handled in a way that makes sense to the story, not in a "Oh noes we're stupid and can't do anything for ourselves" sort of way like you make it out to be.

He is suppose to be a mute scientist with a power ranger suit. He really has no special talent or ability that sets his as unique.

In part 1, it makes sense that he is trying to get out of Black Mesa alive.

In part 2, the suit is with the resistance, the so-called god sent crowbar is with the resistance. why doesn't someone just wear the damn thing and go crazy. why do they really needed to wait for freeman? its not like only he can use the suit.

and the whole romantic thing about Alex wanted to get into her dad's best friend's iron pants. yuck.

I now have a ps3 and never really said much bad about it, unless I was having fun in the open zone. I think I lost bubbles for liking other systems too. I think this site is full of kids who started gaming on ps1 or ps2 or even ps3. they think they are in some "sony club" or something. even though I had a ps1/2/3 they hate me because I like any system that appeals to me, not just sony ones.

you guys seem to like PC the most, and that isnt a ps3, so they hate you too. The first games I ever played were on really old 80s PCs back before I got a NES, so I love any platform. Unfortunately most on this site see a gaming platform as mutually exclusive, regardless of which one the have chosen.

Of all he games Ive played(especially FPS) HL 1 is my favorite game. Its funny to see the fanboys on this site act like vale should somehow become a console developer when valve owns steam and makes some of the best PC games. Valve also did make the best FPS HL1.
