Original Mass Effect Characters May Yet Return in ME 2

Koku Gamer writes: 'BioWare's Marketing Manager Jarrett Lee has told fans that the reason for next to no announcements on the fate of the original Mass Effect playable cast is for the sake of wanting players "to be surprised at who is available as a squad mate when you play the game".'

This game is gunna rock, whether the characters make a return or not.

ON TOPIC: I think that it will certainly add an element of nostalgia having others make a return. It worked good in KOTOR 2 and it will work for ME 2 also

That's a good point about KOTOR. While we did see many of the original cast, (mostly) they were not playable.

It doesnt matter if theyre playable or not, if the main character is awesome then i dont mind. Take ZOE for example, Vic Viper was a likable character, and when ZOE2 came out I liked Dingo, and seeing Vic return was awesome to see.

(I did wish Vic would have been the main pilot in all honesty)

I must agree with Wong, if the same characters don't return Bioware will find a way for some new ones to come in and offer another solid epic experience.

It is that good...and people want to see their moral choices in Mass Effect have some, well, mass effect on the game's storyline over the course of the trilogy.

Hey Buljo,

Not sure if you played it buddy, but the cast is what made the story so good, you had Shepard, Ashley, and few others you recruit to your team and build a relationship. Through the game you interact with them and they are necessary in your survival, also in your emotions as a character.

Garrus was alright, But ashley really got on my nerves. My least likable character. She was a good character, Well written. But personality wise I hated her. and would always treat her as bad as the game would allow me.

the whole vibe of the game is special. It has that whole 80s sci-fi thing going on with it, especially the music and sounds. The Citadel reminded me of that movie Logan's Run...

dude didn't you know it's forbidden to mention the 80's.......i said that i like depeche mode and new order the other day and was cut down.

90% of people on here are 15y.o, the ps3 and 360 is teh best because they're first time gamers (pats the little tykes on the head)

the character development in bioware games is truly unrivaled if they do return, mass effect 2 will only be a more fulfilling game for it

I wish Wrex would return but its probably going to be Liara, that Asarian jailbait(she is only 100 years old). Even people who haven't played ME know her as she has been featured countless times on Fox as a hot blue lesbian alien chick.

11 - Yeah, I think they'll be back
They said that the decisions that you made in ME1 will transfer to ME2. ***SPOILER*** so if you killed Wrex, Ashley, or Kaiden, they won't be in ME2. But because you had the choice of saving them, that decision will carry onto ME2, meaning that they'll be in the game.

I'm not 100% sure (none of us are), but that's what I think.

I'd like to see the loss of one of the two make a difference as well. Like, for instance, if you killed Kaiden, Ashley would act differently when you bring up Kaiden's death because he sacrificed his life for her pretty much. Like they said, the decisions you make in ME1 will affect ME2, and I'm very interested in how much of a change there will be.
