Prototype Dev Working On Possible Sequel?

Split-screen: "Radical Entertainment's built a solid reputation as a sandbox game developer emphasizing more on all-out fun and enjoyment than rote missions and repetition. Their latest title, Prototype, has proved that to a T and come out a great success, even against more hyped titles like inFamous and veteran franchises like Red Faction. It seems we haven't seen the last of our friendly neighbourhood sociopath Alex Mercer just yet."

1 - this wouldnt have gotten attention if it wasnt for infamous and fanboy editors
which shows you the sorry state of gaming now, this was definately one of the worst games i played this gen or any gen, graphics wouldnt look out of place on a dreamcast, controls were crap, missions were repetitive, the buildings looked like lego. infamous destroyed this game in every way.

some fanboy sites gave this a hgh score just because of infamous which is sad games cant be judged genuinely and on their own merit.

Your opinion is honestly very biased. You say games should be judged on their own merit, yet bring up how inFamous "destroyed this game in every way". Uh-huh. Worst game of this gen? Tell that to the people at Gamespot, IGN, etc, who scored it high. Or tell it to the people at Penny Arcade, who forget more about games then you'll ever know.

It may not have suited your tastes, but that doesn't mean you should tear down a good game simply because it wasn't inFamous. Does that mean Dark Cloud sucked because it wasn't Zelda? Or that Zack and Wiki sucked because it wasn't Ratchet and Clank? Of course not.

Edit:

Disagree all you want. Facts are facts, especially when it comes to 7 PS focussed sites giving this good reviews as opposed to 3 that gave it below average reviews.

1.2 - ^is infamous not the yard stick it was judged by? so why wouldnt i
bring up the game it was compared to? unless you been living under a rock there are few websites(wont mention names) who before even playing the games said they will give prototype a better score just because its being compared to a ps3 exclusive, so basically you have totally missed the point so you can throw out your 'biased' comment, it seems this gen truth cannot be said or you are labelled biased or a fanboy.

facts are facts and truth is truth prototype would have gone under the radar if not for infamous, and ill say it again infamous destroyed this game in playability and graphics and storyline yet certain sites gave it a 9 or a ten? thats the reason why i am and can tear down this game is due to the fact the 'biasness' certain sites portrayed when reviewing the game not on its merits but because it was being compared to a ps3 exclusive. gaming journalism these days is bordering on retarded

You refer to people as "fanboys" when quite clearly you are one yourself, you only have to look at all your comments and not once have you said anything positive to anything thats to do with the x360

I was very disappointed with prototype and some of points you bring up a pretty valid. These sort of games would not have been put up with last generation but seem to get good scores because of this so called console war.

I suppose all those people bought Prototype because they were fanboys and wanted to stick it to inFamous?

Prototype wasn't as polished as Infamous but both were pretty repetitive as most open world games are. Infamous had a much tighter narrative and better story telling. After the novelty of Alex's powers wore off, you really had no incentive to play Prototype while Infamous' story and great presentation sought of pulls you through the mundane and repetitive parts. Still love Alex as a character more than Cole though. Hope they make a better sequel and update that dated engine.

Oh I can hardly wait to find out what happens to Alex next, its tough not invest some real emotion in a protagonist as charismatic and fleshed out as Mr.Mercer.

Seriously though, dreadful story and A**hole character aside it's a fun game, I own it and only played it for a few hours before I returned to a certain other game to play as evil but I'll definitely get back to finishing it some time over the Winter months.

The ending of Prototype is a real cop out, but it was a fun journey to get there. I actually played Infamous for a few days, went to Prototype and got addicted like I did on Crackdoown so many years ago, finished Prototype and went back to Infamous.
Prototype was a good start for the franchise and I hope the next game is fleshed out more in the way of plot, because well, the ending just wasn't a conclusive ending.

I really enjoyed Prototype and I think it did have enough to go against Infamous, but both sit side by side in my collection.

3 - Good
The first was fun.

Because it wasn't thought to be quite as good as InFamous doesn't mean it was a bad game.

The action was great as was the way the story was told by absorbing people. Unfortunately it turned out to be a bit like Assassins Creed, too much repetition. AC2 looks like its sorting that problem maybe Prototype 2 can do the same.

I've got this on my PC and although I've heard of Infamous I haven't really seen it, so can't really comment on similarities.

Personally I'm really enjoying it, it seems like they've crammed as many ideas into it as they can, and it really is a lot of fun to play.

It's got it's flaws, the storyline could be a lot better and it's a bit rough around the edges sometimes, but overall it's excellent, best game I've played this year tbh.

Looking forward to the sequel.

The problem I have with Protype is the graphics. You talk about gameplay all you but the graphics suck.

8 - it wasn't just the graphics....
BS lame story + some of the worst boss fights i have the misfortune of playing.

Hope they improve on those aspects for the upcoming sequel, as an overall package it wasn't that bad and was worth the rental.

8.1 - I kind of disagree
some of the boss fights weren't that bad. I found some of them to be down right frustrating like the mission you had to steal a tank to destroy the infestations on the building was down right crazy because you had to deal with so many enemies at one time

9 - I have played both and enjoyed prototype
A little bit more. Infamous was an ok game, nothing jaw dropping about it or what people made it out to be. The only thing I actually liked about Infamous was the intro and story. Once the intro wore off, I found my self doing the something to improve my character, repeated city designs, and so so Enemy A.I. A lot of the side missions were lacking depth, and felt more like a chore that didn't add to the over all experience of wanting me to continue doing side missions. The way of going about being good or evil was a great addition.
Prototype was a little bit less repetitive, and I actually enjoyed how the character moved around the city. I thought his powers were a lot better with the transformations and being able to take certain vehicles. The wack things about Prototype was the story, and I had an issue with the enemy A.I. and some minor graphic detail other then that it was a good game

Prototype's design may not have been of imfamous' graphical quality, but it wasn't as bad as many people would make you believe. I would love to see the improvements to the next installment, hopefully they will focus on the story

9.1 - In actuallity....
My thoughts are the exact opposite of yours! Props for buying BOTH games, because I did too. I got them day 1! I played Prototype MORE than I played Infamous. However, as time went on...I realized that I was enjoying Infamous MORE and at longer lengths than Prototype. Prototype, for me, was more of the constant action...which was GREAT...but only in short spurts! I felt like Infamous gave more development to the story AND encouraged searching and hunting AS WELL AS the fighting mechanics! Both games were good, IMO, and I am MORE THAN willing to give ANOTHER Prototype a try. But, I will ALSO welcome a new adventure for Cole in Infamous 2!!!

I agree with you on that one. I wouldn't mind having them both come out with another installment. I think thats what I really didn't like about Infamous was the pace of action. I found my self exploring the city, sometimes aimlessly looking for the next big fight, or explosion. Since the game is limited to the interactions that are found in grand theft auto, like stealing cars to move around the city. I found running from roof top to roof top was very slow paced. Now, I agree too, the story and pesentation of infamous is great. If there is a part 2 I want to see more depth and interaction of the city

I have both and Protoype was a huge let down. I could not get into it.

The Web of Intrigue was a nice touch, but tedious task to undertake.
It just seems the game goes all over the place. It looks more generic than Infamous and the graphics definitely falter to a point.

There are tons of people to massacre but that gets old. Throwing tanks gets old. Cutting people up in pieces gets old. The story was pretty transparent, there is a lack of direction in that department as well

Controls were pretty responsive, nothing to harp about but better than other games of recent.
Music is alright, there is a lack of it, but I don't see anything wrong in that department.

All in all, Prototype was a boring endeavor with very little substance to back up it's 'interesting story'
Alex Mercer is also a lifeless shell of destruction; when I think of him I think "re-skinned hulk"

If you don't like what I have to say about Prototype then hit me with your best neg bubbles and disagree. I don't give a F***! I couldn't even manage to get past 1 trophy on my main PSN account, after testing it on my *other account, racking up 15%.

To add insult to injury, I just traded for some credit towards Fallout 3 GOTY edition.

If they make a Prototype 2. I would hope for better combo system, styled combos, point system would be a +; better PS3 graphics, maybe for both 360 and PS3, cause if the game looks anything similar to PS3 version, I wouldn't doubt 360 owners wanna projectile vomit toward the screen.
Better story, more diversity in moves, not so many trees like in the first game(that was annoying)

I'm not even going tot alk about Infamous because I have played very little of it, but that will be the next game I Plat, after LBP. That and R2. (competitive for 6 months might gain me that plat, lol)

10.1 - Yeah...
That's what I was talking about with the "short spurts"! I could only kill, mutilate and throw things for so long before it became like GTA without doing missions. Everybody loves that aspect of the game...but I guess that thrill can only last for so long! Loved the "WEB", but it kinda felt disjointed at times.

I was dying to get this game before it came out and loved it for the first day or two, then I realised how samey the missions were, how awful the story was and how much of a boring chore the (so called) 'side quests' were.

I don't care what anyone says, I really liked Prototype. It was very fun, and the graphics on PC look much much better than it did on consoles when I saw the console version. Textures do tend to suck on the buildings though. Even if you don't have a good computer, you might be able to run it as it runs well with the older systems, and still look decent. Even though my friend who has a laptop with only a 7900GTX could only run this at low and only at 720p (his native res was 1440x900) without AA, and the game still didn't look that bad, and was still perfectly sharp with absolutely no jaggies at all. Now the only crappy thing was the story, but the web of intrigue was a good idea.
