Sega Putting Chromehounds Servers To Sleep

Xbox 360 mech sim Chromehounds is about to have its online component put to sleep. Sega will be taking the game's multiplayer portion behind the barn, hopefully ending its life with the first shot.

2 - This is why MS should have dedicated servers. Especially considering that people pay for online.
At the very least they should be being people the option of using their own PCs as severs.

2.1 - They
do have dedicated servers, but it's up to the devs if they want to use them or not.

This game is a mmo of sorts so using dedicated servers wouldn't help very much :P!

They do have dedicated servers but this is a SEGA game not an MS game. This is the same as PSN (for example), it is up to the developers who make the games to use dedicated servers. That would be crazy expensive if MS hosted every game released on the system with their own dedicated boxes.

Maybe this new X-Server thing MS is doing will allow folks to still play it on a smaller scale?

dedicated servers IS the reason why CH is being shutdown. Sega hosted their own. xbox live is a player-to-player service in itself, but Sega decided to pay for their own servers.

like EA, they apparently couldn't justify the cost of running the server with dwindling players online and decided to shut it down.

i really dont know why Sega and MS dont get together and released a patch to maybe implement a player-to-player option to at least have the ability to play with others online, like you know, 99% of all xbox games on xbox live -_-

not one of Sega, or EA's, best decisions

One of the few down sides of dedicated servers. When the company decides to pull the plug it's game over man.

It's had a good 3 year run. One of the only compelling mech games this gen.

9.1 - yes
Sega, and EA, sometimes host their own servers. the downside to that is that once they shutdown a server, the online portions of the game gets nixed (i.e burnout 1+2 etc)
