dont worry its impossible for the PC version to be cancelled out of nowhere. Maybe it wont get out at the same time but still it'll be out at a momment.

my guess is they are trying to put as much hype behind the X360 version to get more Sales as possible and when it reaches the desired number of untis sold they'll release the Windows Game version on PC.

Yeah, that seems pretty in-line with how MS has been regarding PC gaming these days. I can deal with a timed exclusive but it'd just piss me off if they only did it for marketing reasons as opposed to taking the extra time to make the PC game look good and polished on all graphics settings.

I doubt it. It's Microsoft. Games for Windows is their platform. I think they want to keep the focus on the console version to encourage console sales. Alan Wake is going to be one of the XBox 360's must have titles. This is what Microsoft does. They keep the focus on the console version of titles and then release the games later on the PC.

They won't cancel it, no. What releasing the PC version can do is bulk out 360 sales for those who really can't wait and also helps both give a reason(above the obvious one)for why the PC versions are sometimes better to look at AND means that, even if the difference is big 360 gamers still had the advantage of first play.

The thinking behind dropping the PC version of Gears2 entirely shocked me though-were they sick of the piracy on PC or what? I know a few people who loved the first game but wouldn't get a 360 for the second as they felt MS were trying to force their hand and as they already game on an MS platform I can ,kkind of see their point esp afer being allowed to play the original.

The console/PC release date thing is very odd at times.

all the tech demo's you have seen of the has been of the pc. the console verion compared to the pc version was junk.

the physics in the game will be dumbed down for consoles you will not even have the tornados or the kind of lighting they showen at the intel show.

sorry a console adventure games don't imporve it's fact. They have been the same over the years and have never ever changed. You can only do so much genres on a consoles. Your not going to have the same graphics or phisyics on console like you do on the pc. You can have the same kind of tornado shown at the intel show on the console it can't be done. If it's done it will not be the same. notice alan wake is not going to be an open world like said said befor for consoles ND PC. It is because the xbox 360 has a limtied hardware space for that kind of game,basicly they can't handle it.

I don't believe MS make any cash from games on Windows.
XP, vista, mac ,, etc. are OS and not hardware like the Xbox,
when developer finish with a console game (such as Xbox's) they need certification for the game to be relased and here where MS make money from the games.
PC games doesn't need any certification , that is way you see many unknown devlopers releasing their games on the PC regardless of what OS there is.
of course, unless MS is involved somehow in the game development, that is different story.

mircosft knows pc gaming is the best platform. However microsft has lost billlions on the 360 xbox.In fact both sony and microst is in the red. 2008 is the only year that microsoft was in the black since the xbox 360 has been out. In my opinion they want pc gaming dead. However they did come out on big down load and said other wise.

microsft has a poor track record going on for 2 years on the pc. In fact it's was microsft game devs that started the pircay junk agisnt pc gaming.

Yeah I get that, I even get that they want to be more successful than Sony which is why they'll go for exclusive/timed exclusive content over the PS3 but you'd think with both the 360 and Games for Windows being their platforms they'd be comfortable in allowing the game to release day and date on both platforms. It'd be annoying for any PC gamer who at the end of the day would still be a MS customer.

To me it makes about as much sense as Sony saying they would release Motorstorm: Arctic Edge on the PSP first of all and then on the PS2 6 months or so later. They own both platforms and are gonna make money either way.

Of course, I am speculating. I never said that I had inside info or anything like that. You should have realized that I wasn't stating facts when I used the word "probably."

And anyway, so what? My speculating is as good as anyone else's. But I did make my inferences based on things that I have seen. I did see that gameplay vid from many years ago on the PC quad core. No one can deny that there was that video. It was running on a quad core. So let me put it this way. It's obvious that the game was being developed for the PC. Because if it was not, then Remedy would not have designed the game to be on a quad core. Also. The fact is that Alan Wake has always been slated for a PC/360 release. It has only been recently that Remedy has been focusing on the 360 version.

That says two things to me.

1) Either the 360 version wasn't up to par with the PC version, and Remedy had to re-focus their efforts on the 360.

or

2) Microsoft told Remedy to put the PC version on the backburner in order to work harder on the 360 version.

That's what I interpreted from it. Also, just because a developer says something doesn't mean he's telling the whole truth. Square Enix explicitly said that they would not start any on the 360 version of FF13 until the PS3 version was complete. Then we say the demo at E3. So, the developer only says what pertinent at the moment he says it. Tomorrow, Remedy could go right back to working on the PC version. Who knows?
