SFX-360: Red Faction: Guerrilla Review

SFX-360 writes: "Red Faction, the story of a miner uprising over their evil oppressors on Mars. The original game back in 2001 on the Playstation 2 was extremely innovative due to the introduction of the Geo-Mod Technology. This new innovation gave gamers a whole new meaning to blowing stuff up and feeling good about it. Personally, it made me feel like I was Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall. The sequel released one year later however was something different. Sure you can still blow stuff up, but I felt that it detracted from the original storyline of miner liberation to more of a military operation. Now Red Faction Guerrilla is here. The game takes you back to Mars and it's time to continue the uprising.

Red Faction Guerrilla takes place many years after the original game. Mars is now controlled by the EDF (Earth Defense Force). Like the first game, the EDF has become quite viloent and oppressive to the workers on Mars. You'll take on the role of Alec Mason. Alec is a miner who goes to Mars looking for work. There he finds his brother who is involved with the Red Faction. Unfortunately, the EDF finds out about your brother and kills him. Alec decides to avenge his brother's death and joins up with the Red Faction to liberate the workers and to eliminate the EDF's control over Mars. OK so the storyline is kind of cheesy, but for a game of this caliber your not going to care. In the end it's all about shooting and destroying something beautiful. Sounds like my kind of game..."
