If it had twice the amount of total usable cars, and twice the amount of cars on the road at once, it would ALMOST be GT5.

They're almost there though, maybe they should've had 4 CDs instead of 2, to add the rest of the stuff to compete with PD.

You can't use multiple discs for games like sandboxes, racers, fighters, etc. Everything has to be on one disc because you can't swap a disc over and over just because you want to choose a different track or city. The second disc is just for installation purposes. The 360's discs are maxed out.

Also, as usual, these pictures are bullshots. It has anti-aliasing and filters that the real game won't be running.

wasn't it the original GT or was it GT 2 that was on 2 discs? i believe you had to put in a disc to do career mode or something, i'm fuzzy on it since it's been so long.

edit: la chance, i didn't mean for it to sound insulting, i'm just saying that having multiple discs doesn't hinder a game in any way, it's just fanboy opinion. here's a bubble!

Big GT fan here. Being honest i have to say Turn 10 have stepped it up. Though i still think the graphics are close Turn 10 edges them out with forza 3 compared with GT5 Prologue (haven't actually seen GT5). What the deciding factor is to me is simply the tracks. Forza just has more track detail the GT does.

Regardless, GT5 will have more tracks and cars and i am still quite confident that in the yr between prologue and GT5 release some significant improvements have been made that will make GT5 look even better. So far the damage model for GT5 shown has been weak at least in comparison to forza.

Looks like 360 and PS3 fans will be getting their own exclusive sim racer and the competition between the two will be as tough as ever

All of the people complaining about multiple disc need to just shut up. It has been a part of gaming in the past and no one complained. Plus you can just load the entire game onto your hard drive. Liquid....From what I have read, when you are in photomode, you have the option to take the driver out. So, if you want to show some interior pic or something, I don't know. Maybe it is so you have have pics that look like that.

If you take a look at the sky in that image, it looks like they took an image of the sky and mapped to the interior of a sphere or dome....kinda making it look like you're in a dome with the sky painted on it and not in the real world. (does that make sense??)

See I personally like the realistic colors that Forza has. The gt lighting engine makes all the colors look muted compared to the real life car colors. The Ferrari red in gt look almost orangish. Also The cars don't have the reflection that real life cars have. To me the lighting in gt is one of its weak points. That and the sound and the environment.

hac, all games use an environment sphere. So you are correct that Forza is in a sphere.

Hey interested, What you are seeing there is the grass looking not so realistic (the IS-f pic). That road looks completely realistic though. None of that is lighting. I would love to see a picture of a road from a different racing sim that has that much detail though. I wish other racing sim game roads weren't just plain gray. As for that Mazda, I have shown that picture to 10 people in my office, all 10 area still confused. They all think it is realistic.

if youre talking about the 2nd picture, im sure the grass and the road have plenty of detail - but its the way that its actually lit that makes it look unrealistic, its like the car and the environments are lit two different ways, the lighting looks off to me - the car has tons lighting and reflections but the road and grass do not have as much lighting

maybe its just me but in this "shot" of gt prologue, u can see that the cars have a similar amount of lighting as the roads that theyre over, lower lit road has lower lit cars over it

i guess what im saying is that Forza environments make it seem like theres no sun which prevents some type of angled-lighting based on distance, in forza it seems like all the lighting in their environments is the same

EDIT for jolly - thats prologue, if u really want to see blur check out the trailer for 5, and that isnt a white sky, thats what happens when u look at the sun - like i mention in the paragraph above

I agree to be honest. It doesn't look bad at all, but it doesn't look "realistic". The label everyone is slapping onto Forza 3's graphics. The thing that seems to be bothering you (from what you described) is it shows a global lighting system that isn't matched with the dynamic shadows of the cars.

In short, the lighting on the environment is flat, while the cars have their various properties. Reflectivity, etc etc.

The game still doesn't bad though.

Though I have to disagree with Jolly1. Color's aren't that vibrant in real life. The way games like Uncharted and Forza look really colorful is because they take the actual color of an object and turn up the contrast to make it more vibrant. So you can see more colors. For example. I have never seen a car as red as I have on Forza. It's just not natural. While not bad, it just isn't the way people actually see things in real life. Yes, I understand it varies on how someones eye is but for most they see things faded. Also people claim things like "so and so HD TV looks better than real life" is because the enhance the colors on it to make it look more appealing.

That's what I love about Forza. The cars feel aggressive and the sense of speed makes you hesitate about wether you should accelerate more or not.

What I despise about GT is that the driving mechanics feel extremely static and when in the c0ckpit view it feels more like maneuvering a hovercraft than a car. The weak engine sounds and 8-bit sounding tire screeches doesn't really add to the experience either. But if you are all about shiny exteriors and hate customization it's the best choice.

Um, the game is being compared with GT because Polyfony has been tripping with its releases. 2 Forza MS games will have passed you PS3 fanboys by while we play the True Definitive Racing game of this gen! PS3 gets its shoes untied when Polyfony tries to run something this well detailed, so that's why it's been taking so long. They've survived off bullet shots and tech demos but GT5 will fall WAY short of your expectations.

If the truth has hurt you in any way forward all complaints to Polyfony. Get them to finally make you guys a game that competes with Forza 2, since Forza MS 3 has already won this gen.
