Negative turbo. Problems with xbox-live and xbox-live only make the news because it runs so efficiently. And given that performance is generally great it is a shock to see it having problems. Now for the PSN thats another story. It's rocky network is nothing new.

Yep, it's happening to me as well! The only thing that pisses me off is I am having problems getting into a game of Gears 2 multiplayer. I can get into Cod 4 and WaW, Test Drive Unlimited, Far Cry 2, Midnight Club:LA and all my other games except for Gears 2!

I got a question. Since you and every other fanboy talk about how great PSN is, I am curious... If you had to pay what XBL gamers pay, would you still have PSN?

Keep in mind that the main reason it is free is because Sony couldn't get gamers to pay for their online service on the Ps2! So they made it free to steal fire from XBL!

I know you wierdo's are going to take my last bubble, and I am looking foward to it! This place is getting boring anyway! The idiots on here just get stupider by the day, and people with common sense who can have a normal conversation get shafted.

Sony never tried to charge for online play on the PS2 or psp. I played socom on the ps2 damn near everyday and the only thing that cost money was a map pack. Man I miss socom cause confrontation is trash.

It's a known fact that Live was down for those two weeks. It was around Christmas time if I recall correctly and it was a bummer indeed. Couldn't even play COD4 with my buddies at the time and in some cases, some folks made the switch to PS3 just in spite of the situation.

Live typically runs smoothly but looking around the web you can see more articles about Live being down for periods of time spanning 2 to 10 days or so more frequently than the PSN. It's not like it's the end of the world but I can see why paying customers get upset when their service goes down. Heck, if my phone when down for two weeks I would be ticked! I play online more than I talk on the phone too!

All of these articles are about the near 10 day downtime Live had over Christmas break. I'm not bringing this up to be a prick but you called me on it and here ya go.

This is not typical of Live but you do see where some folks get pretty ticked off for this kind of service when they do pay for it. If it were free, this would be a moot point.

I've been in the IT industry since the early 80's and I'm not a fan of M$'s products & services. I've supported hundreds of clients running a number of M$ products & services over the years. Dealing with many of the shotty/buggy workmanship of anything made by M$ has been frustrating beyond belief. The only good news about M$ products is that it has kept me busy & working over the years at the expense of frustrated customers.

The multiplayer aspect of it is working great, but the marketplace is seeing some hiccups. I've bought quite a few arcade games and I tried redownloading some of them yesterday. It'll say "Buy" but it'll be blacked out. Normally it'll say "Download Again", but I had to reset the console a few times for it to say that.

Not a huge deal, and I'm sure they're working on it.

@why dis fanboy : the only thing Live has over PSN is more lag, no dedicated servs, more offline time, a subscription fee, and cross game chat I don't use anyway. No browser either is a minus.

Paying for having P2P lag is hilarious.

@johnny : yeah, there's so much lag on Live you can't even play 32vs32, while PSN already allows that on Res2/KZ2, plus will allow 256 players on MAG. So clearly you don't know what you're talking about.

Xbox live has much better features than PSN and a much better interface however, PSN can handle more players online. Live is definately the laggier of the two. PSN can run massive multiplayer games with virtually no lag while live struggles with 6v6. Just stating the truth people. I can't even play virtua tennis 1v1 on xbox live without it lagging!

@Murder: Not everyone has a computer. My friend Mike had a laptop, but it's battery charge connector went kaput and he hasn't had the incentive to shell out for a motherboard replacement just to get it running again. So his browser is his PS3. He buys all his games from eBay right there on his PS3. It's not a useless feature any more than having FaceBook or Last.FM or Netflix on your 360 is useless because "we all obviously have computers."

FF11 is running mostly off the SE servers. The same servers the PS2 and PC users use. The Live portion is only a portal to the FF11 servers.

FF11 servers aren't MS live servers, the actual game servers are separate from live. The live features are stacked on top the FF service. If your FF connection go's down on 360 your live connection can remain working. Likewise if your live connection drops while playing FFXI you can remain on game as long as you don't log out.

If Live is down but FF11 is up it might be difficult to log on FFXI because on the 360 it uses live as a portal. There are several accounts of this listed on www.playonline where the FF servers where up but users couldn't log on because live was down. They also made it clear that users already connected to FF when live went down would remain online without interruption as long as they didn't log out or disconnect.

6 - XBL is better then PSN when it comes to all around features..

But..what I like about PSN is it is rare where u will see PSN down even for maintenance & because every game company has its own servers running, even if lets say warhawk is down for maintenance u can always play another game online. Unlike XBL (Which U PAY 4) they always have to have maintenance & when that happens u cant play any online games period. This is one of the reasons I havent been back on XBL for a while now. I still play alot of horde when my nephews are over but most my online gaming is on PSN.

Like I said, XBL does have better features then PSN but for a service which is free & is GOOD ENOUGH to have a great online expirience & always has updates weekly, I dont see the added features in XBL really needed for me to dish out money especially when most of the games are p2p. Heck even gears of war 2 which is microsofts 2nd biggest exclusive is ran on lousy p2p which sucks because thats my fav. 360 game to play online.

neither of those are RELEVANT facts, XBL is only down when being updated. if it's frequent, um, maybe it's because we get new stuff with each of those updates. yeah, i know it's a foreign concept to you PSN fanboys.

i can say that PSN doesn't have free vouchers for all you can eat spaghetti, what does that prove? gears has what it HAS, nothing more nothing less. and 20+ million XBL gamers means that 5on5 isn't the end of the world, whether or not they're all online playing against each other doesn't make much of difference.

also 256 players is actually done in teams of 8. i hope you enjoy you're poor model details and playing musical chairs to see who gets to camp in the sniper spot, lol.

service interruptions are just dealt with as they come, if you get concerned then by all means complain. but don't lie that psn is lagfree, and nor does is it even guarantee that all devs will have dedicated servers. that's just the way it is.

Been having a few errors myself, but they all seem to be related to the Marketplace. Online play has been working just fine for me.

I was having trouble getting Worms 2: Armageddon. I couldn't directly download the full game, but I could download the trial, then upgrade to the full game from within the game itself. Not sure if that's useful to anyone else, but there you go.

XBOX Live was running great till they took it offline for 24hrs last month now my friends get kicked out of a party chat, I get kicked from games and get an error code when trying to download a demos and an addon took 2 hours to download. Sony has troubles to I downloaded a demo for Red Faction and I got a numbered error code but thats it when compared to the troubles I have been having with XBL
