Gears of War Jacinto's Remnant dated

Epic Games has announced Gears of War Jacinto's Remnant, the second Gears of War novel authored by Karen Traviss, will hit shelves July 28th.

The book picks up where GoW2 left off, "following humanity's struggle to survive after the destruction of its last bastion on the planet Sera."

The first novel Aspho Fields was fine. Except for the part where Traviss made Cole into a crybaby at the end, and including that retarded Grandma Gear.

Plus the Halo tie in novels were exceptionally good. Ditto with Mass Effect.

Everyone knows Gears (1 in particular) was light on story....scripting isn't exactly Epic's strongpoint. I think a book/novel is a great way to flesh out a lacking storyline. And yes...I'm sure the success of the Halo novels had something to do with this too. :p

I just wish MS would pay the same attention to detail in the game's plot as well as the books. I don't mind books, I think reading is only a good thing, and it helps to lift the stereotype that gamers are unsophisticated, but still, there is no excuse for the lack of story in titles like Gears and Halo.

I do love me some graphic novels though. World War Z is the best piece of lit I've picked up in a while.
