Virtual Suicide by publisher Rockstar

What's happening to the Max Payne we know and love? He's being replaced with this carbon-copy action hero that we could transplant to and from a stockpile of other, similar games. Why, Rockstar, why?

1 - Carbon copy of who?
Oh yeah, slightly chubby bald guy with a beard. Pulled right out of Infamous / Uncharted / GTA / Resident Evil / Gears Of War.

1.1 - I have my doubts over this game
And they have nothing to do w/ Max Payne's appearance.

The fact that we know virtually nothing about this game worries me. Add to that the release date at the end of nov., they obviously don't think this game can contend w/ the heavy hitters this holiday season.

And why such a departure for the setting? A tropical theme in place of a grimy city? If I didn't know better I would think they were trying to emulate Uncharted.

Yes, Why Rockstar why? It is true that most computer hero's/ villains do look similar. Max Payne looked great as he was. This new one to me doesn't look right.

3 - I believe
that rockstar is trying to show the pain in his face and everything that he has been through. He is older now so maybe he doesn't have a full head of hair anymore. Now I don't know about you guys but if they release screen shots and Max Payne had that stupid smug look on his face I would punch him. I loved his games but a man should evolve, i'm glad that Rockstar changed his look.

3.1 - IN OTHER WORDS
max finally dropped that deuce taht he was holding in all throughout the first game. If I look at the back of the case for mp1 I can see the stupid constipated look your talking about.

I was looking forward to Max Payne 3 and, to a degree, I still am, but the whole setting and character change just doesn't make it that appealing.

4.1 - Agreed...
Personally I think that Splinter Cell:C should have been Max Pain3 and Max Pain3 should have been Splenter Cell:C, but it's not my call so ohh well.

On the surface at least, we finally are getting a game that looks like it may have an interesting story. The story may actually - perish the thought - have some depth.

But what do gamers want?

Gamers want the same predictable excrement they get in every single game they have ever played.

You people are idiots.

6 - Geezzzzz
since when did "gamers" become such sissys. I loved max payne bac in the day on pc. I still use the max payne mouse pad that it came with.

We should give the game a chance before we write it off as garbage just because hes bald and it takes place somewhere else.

maybe the ingredients for valkeyre come from some tropical country. Maybe max shaved his head because it was hot. Maybe his hair fell out because of the stress of having everyone he ever loved or cared about murdered.

having an out of shape character in a video game is pretty original, as every character in videogames now is some buff guy or a chick with huge boobs and a thong.

this game will be different because its a 3rd person shooter with bullet time.

Some areas may be bright but the game could still have a gritty and dark atmosphere as well.

give max a chance.

Also theres a chance that hes trying not to look like himself, as in "Fugative undercover cop with nothing to loose" only he might not be a cop anymore.
