They have dedicated severs for unreal tournament 3 they should do gears of war 2 as well . That would help people with bad connections.

Maybe epic will think about this.

I cant believe this is the stance Epic is taken with these issues. It's poor individual connections and not our code. Come on man SERIOUSLY!

Why is it the people I know that complain about Gears match making don't have problems with lag and connection issues in most other games. For those of you that live in the U.S. you know FIOS is about the fastest connection most of us can get. Even my friends with this speed are having issues connecting.

Epic it's your game and not individual connections.

I really wish they would pony up for dedicated servers. This is one of my favorite titles but for some reason P2P just doesn't cut it. When I time isn't an issue I jump on Gears 2 but when my gaming time is limited I steer clear of it because of matchmaking.

What is weird is when I am with a group of friends it's a lot easier to find a game than when I go it alone. At least this has been my experience with G2.

1.6 - This reminds me...
of Killzone 2. It had lag BUT they did the same thing as Bungie did in Halo 3 and many more developers are doing today (except Epic, apparently): an infrastructure that eliminates lag when aiming at the opposite players. Simply, the game detects every shot that was supposed to hit the other player inspite the lag meaning that if you aimed at your enemy when you fired, the damage is recognised but is dealt with lag.

Why couldn't GOW 2 follow the way GOW 1 did their online play? Just create a room and have people jump in it, THATS ALL.

I played GOW 2 with a full party and we tried to find another team to play online. We sat there for 20 minutes and could not connect to anything!

We all just decided to drop out and jump on Hord mode. Super fail on Gears part for trying to make their online similar to COD 4 and Halo 3.

I havent played since then which is a shame because i really love the game.

Gears online system. At least for unranked games. I think it would bring people back and raise their popularity on XBL. Just jump in a room and go through a map cycle. It was awesome when you could create your own map list and play with friends all night long.

Yes I do agree that Host powers are dumb, but ill take them over not being able to play a game at ALL.

I also hated being booted for no reason, I got booted from a lot of games just because i chainsawed people. They called me a newb or weak, yet I was the one who took them out!

Screw that Gears1 ranked matches ruined the game for me. Not being able to join friends unless you do a search then the only way to find a friend would be to have them make the match for 7+ rounds. So your stuck playing the same map for a hour and the map will always be Gridlock because it was the only one people would join.

Unless your someone that plays by yourself ranked matches blew.

wished thy left the gameplay as it was from gears one yeah they were some annoying instances but they were still fun. i havent touched multiplayer in ahwile(6 months to be exact) and check it out again see with all these updates they have released see if i can get back into loving this game as i once used to.

i have major issues with the matchmaking ... as opposed to a few months ago the matchmaking now a days is really slow for me ... it take more than 5 mins to get into a match ... sometimes 10 mins and still nothing ...

but once the match does begin ... its really some of the most fun i've had ... i actually got to wave 30 on day 1 in a public party today.. that was FUN!!

when something like this happens ... as in when a game gets terrible matchmaking or laggy multiplayer ... i would usually put the blame on the guys that made the game... in this case epic...

i bought their game... a collectors edition no less.. so i would expect from them to have a good matchmaking system online ... from my experience and net connection people like activision (cod 4 and cod WaW, valve(team fortress 2) and hell even thq (smackdown vs raw) have made well balanced matchmaking systems online... if they can do it so can epic..

i couldn't give a rats a*s about a 2 $ a month fee for live (50$/ per year) thats just negligable for me

despite the issues in gears' multiplayer, it is a much better game than halo3 online and offline. They all however need to be tought how to make a multiplayer by ps3 devs. Yes, I say this at the risk of losing another 4 bubbles fanboys.

If I even say anything remotely pro-PS3, Xbox fanboys reduce my bubbles...

Or vice versa, especially if I say Xbox Live is better than PSN. GOD FORBID!!!

Even though I have BOTH systems and acknowledge in most of my posts that they both have their pros and cons, I still get negative feedback.

But fanboys pay no attention to reason or logic. All they know is that their respective console is the best and nothing can convince them otherwise.

And pertaining to your comment, I stopped playing Halo 3 about a year before re-buying it because the entire game was full of sh!t. I picked it up again after playing at a friend's house, and to me, it's like a whole new MP experience. Most of all, they fixed the sub-par hit detection (especially with melee) and got rid of all the crap I hated like flares.

8 - This is my favorite franchise I loved on my 360..
Even with all the lag u went through and mediocre story. The multiplayer for gears would have been the best multiplayer experience on the 360 if it didnt have so many issues.

The only thing holding this game back are dedicated servers. The reason I stopped playing this game online was because of standby cheating fu**heads who ruined the fun for me. I mean how in the hell is it possible that my team was up 4 rounds to 0 and all of sudden our bullets aint even hurting these guys anymore and they are running right at us not even taking cover only to see them run upto me and kill me and my team mates for the next 4 rounds which obviously made us leave.

I swear gears 2 is 1000 times funner then halo 3 but wit no dedicated servers it will never compete but in my opinion gears 2 towers over halo 3 especially when u kill sum1 der is nuttin more satisfying den sniping sum1s head off or taging sum1 with the torch and seeing there body splatter all over the place. I can go on with the satisfactions gears 2 brings but

I hope when the next gears is out they fix these issues because I might not play gears 2 online anymore but i still play horde when friends come over which is alot of fun.

Well, for me its faster to find a match than before. But when the match starts, it becomes a complete lag fest. You have people looking like they are crap walking the entire game. You also notice that your teammates guns just keeps shooting and shooting and shooting... and shooting. Epic seriously need to fix their servers. Gears 2 does not have the same fun feeling that Gears 1 had.

Btw, does anyone else seem to notice that the shotgun also feels a bit.... Slower?? Oh yea, I think the chainsaw vaccums are still their!! Ok Epic, please release a damn Beta for Gears Of War 3.

people need to stfu about the matchmaking i have no problems what so ever with it . it takes me 2 min. tops to connect. the only issue i have wit it is the lag that i get every 1 out of 9 matches. other than that GEARS 2 FTW

Because almost every game I have played of Gears 2 had been plagued by lag and connectivity problems like when searching for a room.

I've tried the game at the house of multiple friends too, same problem.

Gears 1 was a laggy piece of sh!t too, and apparently the apple didn't fall too far from the tree.

I'd play Halo 3 or Call of Duty any day over Gears of War or any other title made by that scumbag Cliffy B...

don't worry about it, the fanboys love to hate, i have mostly lag free matches too and matchmaking doesn't take longer than 3mins at most.

There are underlying issues with "host selection" for example people with sh*t ISP's who start parties and host. i have noticed anyone hosting from mexico gives me the crap lag everyone talks about.

I always wanted epic to change back to server lists like gears1, at least we could see what the connection was like before choosing to join the game
