Just wait untill you saw the demo for real, or play the game on a 360.

The PC using 60 FPS might be in perfect conditions with a dual SLI card who know what kind of 6.000 dollar PC.

I knew you would come around. Having no PSZero to play with, seeing games cancelled because it's too expensive to produce on a PSZero, CPU might be downtuned from 3.5 Ghz to 3.2 Ghz then to 2.8 Ghz... Man even don't start, the console you're waiting for is a year to late for next gen. Go watch Warhawk now that looks pretty ain't it?

Seen the walking character? That would even be worse as a PS1 trying to run a GTA game.

There is even no ingame footage that shown us games like Prey let alone to justify 600 dollars expensive console that doesn't exist.

To all the geniuses out there who think that 60 fps is a big deal for some reason....go check your TV signal and get back to me on what Hz it runs at....

Here's a hint : it is about half of 60 fps...60 FIELDS per ssecond is the signal on a television, but since every FIELD is 1/2 of a FRAME in an interlaced TV source, it really runs at.....30 FRAMES per second.

To insist that the developers limited the game Prey to 30 FPS because of hardware limitations is assinine. The real reason is simple - the intended display devices for the MAJORITY of the consumer base. Non-digital, non-HDTV owning homes have TVs as their main display device - these sets do NOT have the capability of showing anythign greater than 30 FPS regardless. Since HDTV is NOT the accepted widespread standard we wish it would be already, game manufacturers, especially CONSOLE manufacturers, must account for this by programming their games to take advantage of the least common denominator of technology that the game will be run on.

On the PC side, it is a different story, since all PC monitors are inherently progressive scan and can handle 60 FPS (that is FRAMES, NOT FIELDS) with ease. On the PC side, the developers do not have to worry about customers using antiquated displays to vuiew the games and as such they can make it run at whater refresh rate they want.

Do not be fooled, the XB360 hardware is NOT the reason the game will run at a slower refresh rate on the console side, the dispalys used by 90% of the population IS the reason.

If the screen (frame) refreshes twice in the time the display can only display one frame - as is the case on analog, non-HD TV sets - does running at 60 FPS matter? Sure, it does on an HDTV or on a computer monitor, but not on a regular TV. The percentages of people who own HDTV is low, so naturally the percentage of XB360s running on an actual HDTV is also low. It is a business decision - not ahardware limitation.

Now, all of that said, as an HDTV owner and an XB360 owner, I think it does suck a little bit that they would do this on the developer side. especially when it has been shown with COD2 that a 60FPS FPS with intensive visuals is very possible and beneficial on the 360. MS should take some of the blame for allowing it, but they also want to see the best possible images on the largest number of screens. While I understand the logic, I am not happy about it....

30 fps is playable but it's the average frame rate , when it comes down to 20 or even 15 then it won't be playable... (Quake4 anyone?) Nearly every 360 game has frame rate problems. I'll be getting Prey on PC instead of this piece of junk.

Man 30 FPS no one will see the difference with 60 FPS. If it's a fixed 30 FPS (which it looks like) it won't get down to 20 or something like that.

I think the developer is struggling with the triple core architecture that’s all.

You really do know nothing.

Developpers and researchers have stated, PS3 and 360 are about capable of doing the same things on screen. BUT PS3 is harder to program and will take longer to get it out of the machine. Furthermore, the GPU of the 360 is better, also because of the 512 MB memory, where the RSX is cut up in 256 MB maximum. Don't forget about the 10 MB embedded fast Ram @ 360 GPU also.

If you think the 360 is weak, you'll be f*cked with the PSZero for sure

Too bad, but true. It's all based on time. When the 360 will be out a bit longer, when the gamerbase is one of the main one compared to PC, it will be developed for 360 then ported to PS3 and maybe PC.

See Gears of War. It's developed on and exclusively for 360. That looks mind blasting.

Oblivion is still a port. It's no hype. There's yet nothing on the market like the 360 GPU with 10 MB embedded ram on top of the 512 MB ram. The 48 pixel/shader pipelines combined makes it comparable to nothing on PC market right now. And don't forget: consoles are optimized to do only one thing best: playing games (at least, the 360 is, the PSZero is a PC according to barbie Ken)

So it's all about lame ports or bad programming. Wait and see

The 360 is capable to produce 60 fps. But the game is actually a port. It ports a 30fps because that is a base. Just like 780p is a base or standard. Pc dev. knows that PC are more flexible than consoles because owners can just up grade. But if your console is not upgradeable but the game is still playable. Ackira has yet to experience the next gen yet that is why he acts so ignorant.

48 pipelines? X1900XTX has more pipes than 48 already, plus you don't count the TMUs and ROPs in the GPUs. Current high end GPUs have 16 of them (7900GTX has 24 TMUs) while the 360 GPU has 8 of them. Also, It's RAM is 128 bit while modern high end GPUs have 256 bit RAM. It's "Triple" core CPU is not comparable to an dual core Athlon or Pentium. It's cores are very small. 360 can't touch the PC, never.

Again read my post. It's the total package combined.

1900XTX doesn't have MORE then 48 pipelines that's not right. It has the same amount of pipelines. BUT in the small extra's lies it's extra power.

The 10 MB embedded DRAM Framebuffer (256 GB/s bandwidth, 2GHz Bus). 1900XTX doesn't have it, PSZero won't have it. And it makes the difference.

And don't forget the PC looses power because of the problem programming on too much configurations. Consoles do just one thing: playing games (well barbie Ken says the PSZero is a PC but who still believes that guy...).

So yes, hardware is evolving on daily basis. On raw detail power PC will ofcourse get new products every day. If games are programmed on the 360 the right way it kicks *ss though.

It depends on how you take it can't touch the PC ever. It all is in the hands of producers at this time. Best thing is, that the 360 is known as easy to program. Could be that games are developed on 360 devkits and ported to PC and maybe PS3 in the end.

And one thing is for sure, buying a 1900XTX or any other new card cost you a fortune, then get the other hardware for a PC... You'll get all that for gaming for just 400 dollars/euro's.

I really think the guys that developed Prey are tooting their own horn a little. For a game that's been in development for so many years, it doesn't look much different from DOOM3. So the game already looks a bit long in the tooth. There's really not enough content to tax the 360's hardware. It's just not pushing the limits. As much pr as this game's been getting, it has alot to live up to. I'm sure the game will be fun, but it must shine in order to compensate for the development time. I did not use the word shine as a pun, but now that I've mentioned it, tone it down a bit and turn on the damn lights in this game. As for 30fps, that was more of a development decision when you consider crunch time, and has nothing to do with hardware limitation.

To me its a give and take with which is better. PC or 360. Oblivion is a better experience on a 360 in my opinion. It looks just about identical to the pc version "IF" you have a maxed out PC. But the 360 on my 61 in DLP TV with thunderous surround sound is unmatched as a complete HD experience. And the difference in the 30 fps refresh rate and 60 is minimal. And some of the textures on the 360 and the lighting, smoke effects, look better than a cutting edge PC. Its wierd. All in all even editors at IGN PC say that the pc version and 360 versions look pretty much identical. But to me for 300 dollars and sitting comforably in my living room with speakers blasting and a wide screen hd tv. I love it. You have to have a 500 dollar video card just to be in the same realm as a video console thats 200 dollars less. And some things the 360 can do is still not being tapped into yet. Also...No games for the PC can do some of the graphical things that Perfect Dark Zero could do. You will see develpers really getting the most out of the 360 the more they learn and work with it. So to be able to get up to speed and make games look the same as top of the line PC's and they are ports...wait till they actually take advantage of the 360. Keep in mind that games are only as good as the developers. Right now Prey looks spectacular for the PC and the 360. Nothing comes close to that level of detail. And its now. Games look better and better as long as the developers have the right hardware and software tools to realize their visions. So games will always only look as good as the developers make them. The 360 doesn't make games. The ps3 doesn't make games. Developers Do. Remember that. So you wouldn't expcect a pc ported game to look better than intended for the Pc using a cutting edge 3000 dollar pc. But if you can get it to look as good on a 300 dollar machine. That says alot with it being a port. Exclusives will show the difference from what is possible on a 360 compared to a PC.
