OXCGN Review: Fable 2: See The Future

OXCGN:

"Whilst it may not have been the game of the year for some, I have no doubt that Fable 2 was one of last year's most important. The franchise is now established as one that will continue to push itself in style and form, and in turn broaden its appeal beyond its RPG roots.

Its evolution of long accepted mechanics and gameplay was largely glazed over by those expecting a more traditional RPG or an explicit blockbuster with a set list of PR friendly features.

The latest DLC package "See The Future" provides (perhaps) a timely reminder of Lionhead's ingenuity and endless passion for ideas, even when some are as flawed as others are perfect."

It's good they are still supporting this title and hinting at the future. I still have to get back into this game...

I didn't really like Knothole Island so maybe this will tickle my fancy.

Haha that's funny. I didn't rate this one much but actually really enjoyed Knothole!

Although this one's a lot more interesting with puzzling and fan made conspiracy theories... god game anyone?

Believe it or not, I've come to like this game, even though I've not played it that muc. From what I have, it does have a certain quality about it that many games seem to lack these days.

Meaning, the make games to suit the audience, which is usually very fickled, and then have a flop on your hands because they have lost interest in it already.

At least this developer stays true to his word as much as he can, and delivers.

3.1 - I know what it is!!!!
CHARACTER

There were two other games that really grabbed me last year with a similar self assured character that fed through every coded vessel... Little Big Planet and Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.

Between the three of them they represent something that has sadly been lost in the churn for FPS and same-ol sequelitis.

Imo Banjo: Nuts & Bolts was the most underrated game last year. It's awesome.

Agreed.

Nuts & Bolts is something people should play beyond the first couple of hours. For me it's easily one of the highlights of last year, if not this generation.

Maybe ppl who hit that disagree button should actually committ an evening to playing the full retail game first. You might be missing out! ;)

Being a huge RPG fan, there is something about Fable 2 that just didn't grab me. I think it may be its simplistic nature?

Looking at your pick I'd say it's your JRPG bias! lol

It's probably because it's more of an Adventure/RPG than an RPG/Adventure.

It's more about the adventuring and action and less about interaction.

I like it though. Loved the first as well.

I hate all these big DLC updates that RPG's are getting, I hate downloading them!

My plan is to just wait for the "GOTY" edition with all the DLC already on the disc, then I can avoid all that License crap that Microsoft likes to put on all its DLC.

RAAGE!

6 - I havnt played it since I finished it!
The (fukn) bugs made me restart the game twice when I was +70% done. . . .and it was such a crappy way to end the story.the game made so many promises it didnt deliver, maybe I'll pick this. . . . . .but I wont promise I will.very forgetable game.

7 - I liked 'See the Future'
The actual seeing the future bit was kind of unwhelming but changing the dog breed and getting those awesome creature costumes made it worth it. And having more areas to explore you can carry around in your items!
