Joystiq Interview: Huxley project manager Andy Hong

Huxley was billed as the first MMOFPS to hit the Xbox 360 and PC, and it was to offer cross-platform multiplayer and promised 100-vs-100 online battles. Sounds to good to be true, right? Apparently. The game suddenly disappeared from public eye -- for years! And then, just as sudden, Huxley re-emerged from hiding through a handful of new screens and is now under the (hopefully!) steady hand of ijji.com (owned by NHN America).

Looks pretty cool. Can't wait to play it on PC.

Then again, ijji is not my idea of a primo publisher/developer. And notice how they won't even confirm a 360 version.

Yeah its strange that the hate is so great they choose one Microsoft platform over the other when being spiteful.

On topic they put the 360 version on hold the info on that is so vague its not worth mentioning or speculating.

MMO

" A massively multiplayer online game (also called MMOG or simply MMO) is a video game which is capable of supporting hundreds or thousands of players simultaneously. By necessity, they are played on the Internet, and feature at least one persistent world."

@ Journalist

Why would I care if Microsoft gets my money? The thought process of "oh, you refuse to get it for the 360 but you buy it for PC? Hah! M$ still gets your money! Boom! In your face!" totally boggles me. I don't buy PC games to help Microsoft. I buy them because I can enjoy them on a stable gaming platform.

Lost interest in this game once I found out it plays like Unreal. Then the player count was greatly reduced from what was originally planed.

1.7 - Journalist/Irobot, this isnt a 360 thread though. "s8anicslayer - contributor Published: 1 hour ago | Interview | Xbox 360 | PC" click on the PC tab, and bam. its like you guys want to put on blinders to the world of reality. What exactly are you all saying? Im guessing that you're saying PC gamers can't chime in ever for their exclusives?
perhaps if you looked up to the top, the lead platform is the PC. The stability argument of yours is thrown out of the window considering a 360 dies at every gaming expo event. Sure, everyone here at n4g has a bullet proof 360...... but outside of n4g its a different story. Where RROD/class action lawsuits are a reality. Are you really going to pretend that a 360 that dies on you WITHOUT ANY USER ERROR, is more stable than a personal computer?? That was just sitting with the ON button? I mean really? you're going to stand behind the build quality of a console--known to have severe hardware problems-- vs pc's in general?

You don't need an expensive rig to run a game optimized to run on a 199 dollar system without a HDD. So lets just put that silly argument to rest. Wake me up when the specs of a PC/360 game are at crysis level, Then its a valid argument. Pretend you have to upgrade to run the unreal engine or the source engine just shows that you shouldn't be commenting on the subject at all.

Maybe one day when someone is trolling a 360 only game, then there would be a leg to stand on. Clinching onto multiplatform games and trying to knock PC is beyond ridiculous when all of your main "zomg" titles are PC exclusives.

Maybe PC owners should start putting our noses up at console boys coming in to chime in on our exclusives. Everyone is all about superior performance until it comes to the PC. Then silence.

edit:

"Hah! M$ still gets your money! Boom! In your face!" totally boggles me. I don't buy PC games to help Microsoft. I buy them because I can enjoy them on a stable gaming platform" -GWAVE

Exactly. Its the same argument people try to pretend they will buy 1 version of a multiplat over another, but for some reason it dissolves and makes no sense when talking about the pc.

ungrateful console owners.

"Also a PC is unstable as they come. Viruses, crashes plus being Expensive to replace"

I'm sorry, but a person who replaces a computer because of a virus, let alone let a virus on the computer in the first place, is an idiot. Crashes tend to happen only if you're using beta drivers, fooled around with some settings, or have faulty hardware. The first two points are user errors; the third point exists with consoles as well.

You know his tech? Strange (athough yeah, obviously having a dig). Still, the UE3 runs well on even the most average PCs and MMO are generally built to appeal to as many people as possible so they're rarely intensive.

Either way, when it was announced I was quite excited as a UT fan, we'll see how it goes, but to be honest there other games on the horizon that interest me far more now. I certainly wouldn't be up for paying for a subscription.

360 Version has actually been put on hold to see how the PC version goes. http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

Cool!.... He came in here to speculate on the 360 version because he takes jabs at the 360 when he can. I don't care about what you posted I'm not reading it. I know what Gwave is doing. Sorry you wasted your time posting that sh*t.

Not sure what you're talking about but Huxley is a high profile game.

Your logic suggests if Wardevil was put on hold it wouldn't be high profile hypothetically speaking.

You're so busy trying to call me out you twist what I said to do so. I said High Profile articles to begin with

Why do PS3 fans say things and not it think through?

At this point the only reason Huxley is high profile, aside that it will the 1st (2nd after FFXI) MMO on the 360, is weather or not it will be on the 360 at all. As a PC-only MMO, its only going to be crushed by WOW. Drown in the sea of lesser MMOs trying to be WOW.

I know it's a bit depressing really but they do seem to have run into all kinds of trouble with this game. When I first heard about it I imagined that it might be possible to play with/against people on either 360 or PC at the same time and all together. If not that then I hoped,at least the 360 version would be getting the same in game numbers and full support that the PC game is still getting.

IDK though, the 360 game could still be a winner(much could depend on their pricing strategy as paying to play on top of a gold sub might not sit well with a great many console gamers)and I'd rather play it there if it isn't either too poor a relation either graphically or in terms of numbers as I've had very poor experiences of late with a few really snobbish PC gamers in MMOs(were these peple born playing WoW?!?)and would've liked to give it a go with a different crowd and a game with a different idea.

All we can do is wait and see what arrives and hope the 360 game gets sorted as we've been promised a lot, disappointed a lot and don't seem much nearer right now. Anyway, we can but hope.

EDIT:@GEC-mate, as they're kind of lamenting the lack of concrete 360 news for the game I guess they couldn't put it in PC news and leave it there. I get your point but the article is more aimed at the 360 question and you don't know we might yet see the game on 360.

yeah i agree with you. As a matter of fact they stopped all their other games just to focus on huxley for the pc. I was really looking forward to this on my 360 cause i have two brother and two high end pc so i was hoping my brothers and i could play it together.
