OXM UK: The Worst DLC Of All Time

OXM UK writes: "Shivering Isles. Lost & The Damned. Rock Band 2. Left 4 Dead.

There has been plenty of awesome DLC on Marketplace that has helped extend the life of your favourite games thanks to new game modes, weapons, cars or whatever else. Good DLC will rally the Xbox Live community back to the old favourites and provide the perfect excuse to blow the dust off a long neglected game.

Even so, there's been plenty of tat too. Some publishers have seen it as a cheeky excuse to try and squeeze a few extra coins out of eager gamers while other DLC has just been... bad. Plain bad. So which ranks as the worst?

5. Vampire Rain Mission Pack
Description: Extra single player missions..."

Didn't tales of Vesperia have dlc for 1 million gold and to increase your level by 5 of something like that?

I think that was the worst dlc with horse armour not far behind.

Yup, you're right. They did have purchasable money and levels. Sad really.

Don't think that can count as DLC, though, as it's not really content. They did count the money on The Godfather, though, so I guess it'd be fair game in this site's list.

Looking purely in terms of what you get, the Stranglehold map pack was good, it had a lot in it as well, the pricepoint may have been a bit too much though.

Street Fighter IV's alternative costumes are really a scam. First, the game costs 70€ where there are just the characters from SFII (plus Dan and Sakura) and few "meh" new ones (Abel is nice, but Rufus? The mexican spaghetti?).

Then you have to pay 3.99€ for 4 costumes (and as there are 4 costume packs it makes around 16€ for all) that are already on the disc and half of them are not even worth it. Cammy's costume is nice, but Dan, C. Viper, Saggat,... are terribly lame. I've never feel so frustrated since i realized how much crappy was Rise of the Argonauts.

basically EA with all their 'unlock everything' packs. why bother playing the game when you can just pay to unlock everything! I really don't get who would buy one of these packs lol

In a odd way I agree, companies like EA, Capcom, etc have done far worse at this point.

Remember when Itagaki got really vocal about publishers charging DLC for stuff that was already on the disc? Everyone dismissed him, and now look at what happened!

Plus, people forget that the infamous "horse armor" was pretty much the FIRST EVER dlc for this gen; Bethesda was just "testing the waters" with the horse armor. I think they've MORE than made up for it, with all of the other great dlc they've released since then:

Mehrune's Razor
Knight's of the Nine
Thieve's Den
Frostcrag Spire
Dunburrow Cove
Shivering Isles
Operation Anchorage
The Pitt
Broken Steel

I think it's safe to say that Bethesda has actually PIONEERED AND OVERACHIEVED, where dlc is concerned. It's the publishers like Activision, EA and Capcom that have committed the TRULY HEINOUS crimes this gen.

8 - I was hoping for RE5 Versus mode.
I guess they didn't want to slaughter capcom here. Come on, Versus mode in RE5, 2 weeks after it's released? I could see if we were paying for like Call of Duty 4 multiplayer, but standing still and shooting each other, yeah, I'd rather buy the horse armor.
