Too Human DLC, Sequels and Co-op

Aimforthehead.co.uk writes: "According to a message board post on toohuman.net, a sequel to the Xbox 360 exclusive, Too Human, is currently in development. It seems that despite the mixed-reactions to the original, the trilogy will continue.

The post also suggests that such sequels will tout a 4 player co-operative mode – a feature that was initially hinted-at but never delivered.."
Updates:
Although it's safe to say that the 4 player co-op might be a possiblity, and that a sequel is more than likely underway, the topic poster appears to have mistaken the magazine publication date, meaning the DLC may not be coming.

PLEASE IGNORE: This story was rushed and not properly checked.

1.1 - Does anybody even play or own TooHuman anymore
I gave it a chance but ended up selling it. It was very repetetive with the environments. Bring on Part2 and lets hope its better than the first.

It will be funny to see the DLC priced higher than the game, I believe the game is around £8 pre-owned at my local store.

1.3 - They need a major overhaul
If they want this game to sell well.

They were one of the best studios last generation (Metal Gear Remake (Twin Snakes) and Eternal Darkness) and have got the talent to do it somewhere.

TH was an average game, but needs something special to sell a sequel to an average game.

Although it initially look interesting, it failed to impress me especially after trying the demo. In my opinion, the control scheme was pure cr@p!

Agreed, this game became more of a chore than anything towards the end. The enemies who became invincible when near the big spider enemies, who had unblockable attacks. They seemed to make the learning curve based on just throwing larger waves of enemies at you.

And the story was seriously under-developed, it just seemed like one minute something was happening, then suddenly it tied into a dead wife we're supposed to care about etc... The camera was also pretty infuriating on the later stages of the game. That said, i picked it up for £10 and i got a good crack out of it so it's not too big a deal.

1.10 - This game is a lot like Lair
in that it was very polarizing. The people that love it really really love it. The people that hate it are opposed to even looking at the box art.

It is a bit surprising to hear that Too Human will be getting some DLC this far after release but I'm not complaining!

Unless the Government of Quebec is subsidizing Silicon Knights, the game is over for Too Human.

Funny ~ most ppl either loved or hated this game.

Personally I like the story & zero loading screens in co-op was cool.

But, too repetive perhaps, the controls were alitttle wacky. Hopefully they will focus on gameplay & co-op & it could be a much better game.

It does seem late to be releasing DLC. Might be good for people still playing the game. The rare few.

5 - I liked too human
Glad to see Microsoft actually continuing something and not just quitting. Suppose Sony had quit with Killzone after the first?

Microsoft just gave up with alot of their titles last gen. Grow some balls and produce.

5.2 - ..............................................................
I hated Brute force, LOL. But to each his own. None of us are just alike and we all like what we like.

I think Too Human and Lair suffered mainly from their controls. Suppose Too Human had a regular control scheme and Lair came with Analog controls from the get go? Both games would've scored better.

5.3 - i like brute force
but for me, the biggest problem of the game was it was released before it's time. Had it had 4 player online co-op the game would've been absolutely great.

I wish MS made that and some more of the wiseman collection, and a bunch of other titles.

I know what you mean Software Lover, I got that from mario galaxy.

5.4 - I think I got sick playing Brute Force
Not sick like the game sucked but sick like nausea. Thats probably one of the reasons I didn't like it. Couldn't really play it. Mario 64 was like that also for some reason.

lol i actually liked the controls of Too Human.it was easy and could be played by anyone but for me the character animations were clunky and stiff.the story was good but fell short because it was told in a very disjointed manner. The loot collection was awesome though.

@xi: Definatelly agree with Brute force being ahead of it's time.If that game was launched now (released with next gen coating) with it's unique characters, their abilities and an online co-op feature, that game would be a hit.

5.6 - I didn't have a problem with the controls either
But if a reviewer has a problem with controls then you can kiss a good review goodbye. Then the game scores low. Then the fanboys come on the internet and laugh or rebel. Then no one goes out and buys the game. And its just a never ending story. Too Human controls were fine to me.

Loved brute force, used to play it with 2 or 3 friends and it was cool. However, the level design wasn't always what I expected it to be and the multiplayer (competitive) could have been so much more, I hope MS will one day revive this franchise.

As for Too Human, happy to see it being supported and having a sequel, I just bought the game new for 10$. And just like when I first played it at launch and no, the controls are fine, however I'd prefer having to puch buttons for my attack and have good control over the camera rather than having some cool control scheme with below average camera for most of the game, mostly when using guns IMO.

5.8 - Brute Force was OK.
The weapons and combat were very good. The level design was very poor. The story also had problems.

It had incredible co-op and multi-player on system link and lan. It would have sold millions if it went online.

Good to hear that Microsoft is still committed in funding a sequel to Too Human.I did like the game but will admit that the game was seriously flawed.Hope they use a new/better engine and actually make the sequel much better.

Good news. Too human was flawed but cool. The only thing I really didn't like was the mandatory-to-watch archangel animation after every death. A waste of time. Other than that, I liked the game. I welcome sequels.

I'd forgotten about the death scene! Haha, thinking back, by the end of the game the music during that little scene with the angel taking her sweet time as if i'd interrupted her coffee break. It became a bit of a "f*ck you, as if you're dead again" scene. It just seemed to be rubbing it in your face, although i'd be pissed off if i was that angel...

11 - hopefully silicon knights learn from their mistakes.
and listen to what their fans want. No 30 second death sequence, a longer campaign, and improved visuals, and a better camera system. I would keep the stick movement because it's unique and I think it works, but I'm probably part of the minority.

Maybe they'll make it right this time...and ON TIME.

13 - IGN
has the best review for this game, they gave it a 7.8. Despite it being somewhat repetitive, it was FUN!! The controls take some getting used to though, but if you take the time, you will be rewarded. I played around with the demo for about an hour until i learned them, then i went and bought it for $24. I was surprised!! i would GLADLY pay full price for this game, it has so much replay value!! Guys, dont believe the bad reviews, try the demo and buy this game!!

I'm not surprised that they'd rather waste money on a sequel to a pretty mush useless and failed franchise , than admit they failed .

Then again sometimes when corporation are stubborn and egocentric that way , game as mediocre such killzone 1 becomes great , excellent even in their sequels .

Despite my utter comtempt and dislike of the title from well probably the beginning , i can only wish them to turn it around and make it good and possibly great later .

I'm surprised about the controls comments , i didnt have issues with it . I was just bored by the game and some tedious things like the character's respawn and the fact that i didnt enjoy the settings or pompeous story . at least it tried in a few areas like the controls

That's good news, believe it or not. I've actually enjoyed the original...great frenetic combat, reasonably deep RPG elements.

However, I can see why some people didn't like the game.

So for any sequels, the following changes need to be made:

1. Clear up the inane storyline. The awkward melding of Norse myth and futuristic tech did NOT work well. Tell a tighter story that players can actually get into.

2. More varied environments. One level blends into another after a while. More levels, too. Four-player co-op would be great.

3. Fix the imbalance between character classes. Berserkers are AWESOME at combat, but can't take more than a few hits.

4. Keep Dennis Dyack's mouth shut. He spent so much time hyping the game that people's expectations were probably abnormally high.

It's not so much the mix of the two i'd complain about . Hell anime and comics do it all the time well .

Even though , little HS time , i'd just love them to frickin' do simply a norse myth inspired game once without altering it so much . And it's annoying cause norse myth is the one that always get mixed with something else like sci fi , and never really get a chance to shine as is , in a game or anime . Vikings and the valyrie chronicles games , are pretty much the only attempt , and not bright or in Valkyrie's case truly respectful ones

Back to the topic , the real problem was it used norse myth for very little reasons , and werent even good in the sci fi area neither . They tried so hard to be philosophical and deep yet failed , wich in the end just felt pretentious and nauseous to me .
At least when a xenosaga game pretend to be inspired by Nietzsche , they do keep a lots of ideas and concepts from it , and dont make it sounds as if the german title was just there to look cool and deep . they try to make it work .

19 - I must say i was dissapointed
with how Too Human turned out as it was one of the game i wanted to play the most on the x360. I just love the concept and SK.

Its great though that SK have stuck to their guns and are developing a sequal. With lessons learnt from part 1. Part 2 could only be better and prehaps deliver on the original vision.

19.1 - But the question is,
How close will they be sticking to their guns. The main reason the first failed was problems with the UT3 engine. Are they going to be using yet another and how will it effect gameplay?

20 - Didn't the studio close down?
Because Too Human 1 wasn't the hit it needed to be?

Guess if tis happening it'll be said at E3.
