I Chainsaw Soulja Boy In Half, But He Triumphs In Gaming Battle

"What can I say? On a day he was supposed to be promoting his new album, iSouljaboytellem, Soulja Boy ground his hype machine to a halt, stopped by our office with his entourage, plugged his Xbox 360 hard drive into one of my two 360s and spent more than an hour just playing and talking games with me.

The set-up was simple. I had picked one game: "Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2." He picked one game: "Gears of War 2." And we'd have a surprise game neither of us had played as the tiebreaker, based on feedback we'd gotten from the challenge online (people had recommended a fighting game)."

6 - It was surprisingly a really entertaining match...
Soulja Boy really surprised me, especially in Gears of War 2. I always imagined him as a newb who runs around with the chainsaw, but it turns out he hates the weapon and even refuses to use it. I have to respect him for that. It was pretty close, and I think a rematch, or a contest between Soulja Boy and another game journalist would be awesome.

6.3 - Using the shotgun in Gears does not make you a girl...
I don't think you've played the game. The shotgun is one of the starting weapons. Most people play the game by either running around with the shotgun or running around with the chainsaw. The chainsaw is cheap, but the shotgun requires a relative amount of skill, especially against another shotgunner. Also, it seemed like Soulja Boy killed the MTV dude with nearly every weapon on the map.

Just to clarify, I do think that Soulja Boy is an ass, and I really wanted the MTV guy to win, but after that game I recognize that the rapper is pretty good at Gears 2.
