Analyst: Too Human 2008's Biggest Disappointment?

Gamasutra writes:

As part of Gamasutra's year-end 'Analyze This' feature, game industry analysts discuss the biggest disappointments of the year.

Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter picks out Wii Music as a surprise failure, while OTX's Nick Williams notes Too Human's quick switch to the "top-ranked game for negative buzz" soon after its launch.

"The biggest disappointment of 2008 was undoubtedly Too Human," says Williams. "In development for almost 10 years, Too Human was hyped to be one of the defining releases of this console generation."

"With such high expectations, it was no surprise that many critics judged the game harshly; the general consensus among gamers was that the game play was highly repetitive and the story fell flat."

Data from OTX's GamePlan Insights tracking study reflects that disappointment. The game quickly went from one of the top-ranked games for positive buzz during the months leading up to launch, to the top-ranked game for negative buzz soon after launch.

You can now read the full Gamasutra feature, with plenty of data-supported insights from the game industry's most prolific analysts on 2008's biggest hits and misses.

They game did offer something different, but it had to many downsides and Dennis did talk to much.

For me Haze and Too Human, both equally share this title. I was expecting a lot with both games, but was left ultimately disappointed.

At least Silicon Knights have a chance to redeem themselves unlike Free Radical.

Sucks I liked the TimeSplitter series.

If Denis is smart, he would take the Peter M. response with the sequel.
